OKW Hospitality House Changed???

The OP mentioned building 15 as being HH category. Can someone please verify for me that it isn't? We've stayed in that building and loved it. We also love building 18. Although we've never stayed in 19, it's right by a pool, so I thought it might be noisy.

I noticed more noise from the buses than noise from the pool.

I think we have 2 different topics going here. HH = Hospitality House booking category. HA = Handicap Accessible room.

The HA rooms with roll-in shower do not have a shower door. They have a tiled, sloped floor and a shower curtain. Some folks complain about water all over the bathroom floor. We have found that if you angle the shower head away from the curtain, it is not a problem. You can also put a towel on the floor just outside the curtain if you want to catch any rogue spray.

But the bathrooms in the Hospitality House Area are different. All the bathrooms into the master bedroom have a second door that goes through the laundry room in Bldgs 30 and higher. The HH area are numbered under 30, so they do not have the second door out of the bathroom through the laundry room. Any guest using the sleeper sofa in the living room has to go through the master bedroom to use the bathroom.

you know you are probably right.

remember when they close the HH bus stop and told guests to go to Miller road instead of the closer Peninsular road.

is the HH bus stop still closed - or have they finished the work on the luggage area for bell services.

The bus stop was still closed two weeks ago when we were there. We had a HH studio and we were definitely in building 64. The walk to the Miller Road bus stop was definitely shorter than going to Peninsular Road but neither was bad. Walking to the main pool and Good's was short. We like to be able to go get our coffee in the morning and the teenagers like the pool. Although we discovered we were actually closer to one of the quiet pools and they liked that better.

Very true. However, I don't believe that all buildings under 30 are HH category. And when 62 - 64 are used as HH rooms they do have the additional door. The different door set-up doesn't directly correlate to being in HH category.

It usually does, at least up to now, when they suddenly seem to be using 62-64 as HH (still not sure if it's temporary or not according to the info on this thread).

Actually, when the HH category was announced using the lower number buildings, my first thought is that they were trying to make those bad bathroom 1 b/r's more desirable with the new booking category. Considering that hardly anyone books a 1 b/r for only 2 people, it's quite disruptive to have that single bathroom entrance through the mbr (even if it's only your own children traipsing through the room). But then again, I am a light sleeper!

I guess I am messed up on the numbers. I thought that buildings 15 through 22 ARE NOT HH category while 11 thru 14 and 23 through 26 ARE HH category. Maybe the coded map I have is out of date.
We like HH category for convenience, even with a car, and we book 1 bedrooms for just the 2 of us because that is the best part of OKW--the size of the 1 bedrooms!

I've heard this comment before. Are the bathrooms in the HH rooms different?

Thanks on the information regarding the bathroom door. I can see where a separate door into the living room would be an asset when guests are sleeping in both rooms.

The above link shows the HH buildings outlined in blue. But it appears that it might have temporarily changed, correct?

Thanks for the good discussion, everyone! I believe we have confirmed that the HH area as of right now is different than what was reported just a month ago. SO.... if you are making reservations just double check this with your CM. Maybe it is a temporary change but then again maybe not. Goodl luck.

Those of us who love buildings 45 dn 46 would never book in the HH catagory. Why book HH when you can have that lovely view in 46?:thumbsup2

I took a picture with my phone (screen saver) of the view with a DTD boat going by, sunset ahhhhh I look at it every chance I get. It brings me to a good place! So peaceful

We love building 15! It is NOT in the HH catagory, but is very convenient to both Hh and Miller's Road area. We like it because we can choose to use either bus stop, and we love the Miller's Road neighborhood pool.

Yes, 19 can be noisy from the pool if there are loud people there, but unlike others, we have never had issues with the bus turn around being right there. The views are wonderful from building 20!

So does anyone know when the bus stop at HH is supposed to be opened? We are booked into HH for this Dec. Trying to decide if we should keep it or just switch back to a regular room. I have been going back and forth about it before so its not just because of the bus stop, but it might be the one thing to make me switch for sure.

It will be done long before December. I would never switch because of that anyway. I'm not fond of the HH booking catagory either. Those buildings across the street from HH are not our favs, and while we like the Penninsular road ones, it's a crap shoot that you would get those. See, if you booked HH now and were in the Penninsular Road buildings, you would still have a bus stop right next to your buildings, so not sure why you would change anyway. ?????

I was thikning of changing because of the bathroom set up and having the one door so that DS didn't have to walk through the master to get to the bathroom since her more then likely will be in the living room. Plus the chances of us getting a refurbed room are better if we are not in HH, atleast right now.

At OKW right now and I am quoting from the letter given in our check-in package:

"In order to couble the size of our Resort Airline Check-in facility to reduce Guest wait times and prepare for the future addition of Southwest Airlines to the service, a refurbishment effort will be occurring in the Porte-Cochere area at the Hospitality House. This project will begin on Monday, May 3, and we expect it to be completed by early July."

Any bus will let you out at the sidewalk crossing by the bridge to the Hospitality area (called Turtle Crawl). Just let the driver know ahead of time else they will not stop. You can not board a bus here, just get off. To board they state you need to go to Peninsular Road.

None of the HH buildings have the second door to the bathroom, and wont after the refurb either. To get that second door, you need to be in buildings 30 or higher. If you want a building fairly close to HH with the second door, you would want to be in 62, 63, or 64.

I realized after I booked HH that none of them have the second door, which is one of the reasons we are thinking of changing. The second reason is that we would be interested in trying for a refurbed room. I still have no clue what we will be doing. But from the post isn't 62-64 a HH building now?

No, that was just an error on the part of the CM. Those are the only buildings with elevators and they were supposed to be reserved for medical needs.

No, that was some rookie desk worker's error. Those buildings will never be in the HH catagory, because they need to have access to the elevator buildings for people with mobility issues.

Are the Elevator buildings all HA? I am currently booked for HH to be close to everything and requested 1st floor. My FIL can not climb stairs all week, he has terrible knees and that would be agony for him. I am thinking maybe I should call and try to alter from HH to the elevator buildings. Are they a guarantee booking category like HH?

Thanks! This thread has been very helpful!

The three elevator building are not a guaranteed booking category, unless they are now included in HH. Bldg 63 has HA units, 62 and 64 do not have HA modified units, but are still often used for those with medical problems that can not walk well, but don't need the modifications, like roll in shower or raised commodes.

I would change your request to first floor or elevator building for medical reasons. If you need an HA modified unit, be sure to call MS and tell them you need to speak to special needs.
