We've stayed at OKW in a dedicated 2BR on our last vacation and thought it was awesome - spacious, great view of the golf course, quiet - perfect!

This year, I've reserved an OKW Grand Villa in honor of our dd's golden birthday and was really, really excited, until.....

....reading some not so great reports about OKW Grand Villas on this and other sites - dead bugs in cupboards, dirty/sticky floors, grimy bathrooms, etc. :scared:

Now I'm a bit concerned -- for those that have stayed in an OKW GV - what have your experience been?

Thank you!!

We've stayed in several and had about 30 OKW stays...Only had a problem one time, and that was with a 2 bedroom that needed to be rehabed. As for bugs....It's Florida and it's summer....THERE WILL BE BUGS!!! We haven't observed bugs much in the rooms though, but we have had a tree frog or two come in uninvited when we have had the patio door open. In one instance, we had one who came in the door and hopped into the front hall closet before we could shoo him out!:lmao:

We stayed in a GV at OKW last month and had no problems with insects or a dirty room.

We did have to wait until after 4:00pm (actually almost 5pm), but the villa had been thoroughly cleaned - in fact the carpets were still damp from the shampooing. We checked in at 8am (we were already at OKW for 2 nites before) but found that all GVs were occupied from the nite before (our GV reservation began on Sat) - so we just waited in our 1BR until 11:00am and then stored our bags with the Bell staff until our family arrived at 3pm. We spent the interim visiting AKL and having lunch. When our family arrived and the villa was still not ready we just changed into swim suits and enjoyed the pool.

The GV was spotless and we had a great week. There are 27 GVs at OKW and for every bad experience reported there are many, many more great experiences - but those reports don't get nearly as much attention.

Have a great trip! :)

Thanks for the reassurance!

Live bugs and critters don't "bug" me much! :rotfl2: In fact, we had a very small "pet" lizard in our room for most of our stay this past January in Jamaica.

We are going the end of January and don't fly in until around noon. We're taking ME, so will be packing our swimsuits with us in the hopes it'll be warm enough to swim (that's relative - we're from Minnesota). If not, we just make take your advice and visit AKL - haven't been there, yet.

Thanks a bunch!!

We were in an OKW GV in May. It was spotless. We couldn't get in until after 4:00, but we didn't mind. It was jaw dropping beautiful. We loved it.

It's been about a year since our OKW GV stay but I have to say it was in excellent condition - clean with no signs of wear. We were there in September and had no issues with bugs.

I will join the chorus of praise for OKW GVs. We stayed once this past March. Ours was also jaw-dropping. Perfectly clean. (The fake plant leaves had a slight veneer of dust but I'm probably the only one who noticed.)

I have to admit I read a few of the disparaging posts and was slightly nervous, too, but I expect those problems, if they were true, are rare.

We stayed in a GV in Nov of last year - the full week before Thanksgiving. Arrived on Sunday at 12:30 and was able to get into our villa immediately - what a treat :cool1: :cool1: We were in bldg 49.

It was in a word - grand !! We had family staying with us and there was plenty of space for everything and everybody.

It was clean and in great shape.

You'll have a great time!

We stayed at an OKW Grand Villa twice. Both times the place was in perfect condition when we arrived. Though both times we couldn't get into the place until nearly (or just after ) 4:00.

We stayed in a GV in 2004 for two nights. What a TEASE that was! OMG! The place was GORGEOUS! I did not notice any houskeeping issues, but I see everything through rose colored glasses when I am at WDW.

I will say, my sister noticed the glass in the picture frame in the bathroom was broken. I only called the front desk to let them know it was like that, and that we did not do it. We left for the afternoon, and when we returned, the glass had been replaced.

We are staying on a GV for 5 nights in August. Based on what I have read here, the first thing I am going to do is walk in barefoot, and have my kids crawl around on the floor. I'll let you know if we end up dirty! :)

Looking a lot better for you. Have a great vacation.

:rotfl2: Yes, please report back!!! :rotfl2:

And yes, it IS looking like an awesome vacation. I'm realizing how incredibly lucky were are to be staying the the GW.

Thanks to everyone for your comments....wish we were leaving tomorrow!!

We have stayed in several GVs at OKW...it is our home resort...and have never found them to be problematic.

Truthfully, I have always found that if I do have Housekeeping/Maintenance "issues" that a quick call to the deaprtment takes care of things pretty readily.

We've stayed in OKW GVs several times, members since 93. We've never had any problems. We will be in a GV next June for 6 nights.:goodvibes
