Does anyone know how difficult it is to get tee times and what the fees are? Do they supply clubs or do you have to bring you own? Thinking of surprising DH & DS.
Thanks

Here's a link to the Disney section on Golf. There are discounts available for DVC members that you can find on the Member section of the DVC member site. Clubs are not provided but they are available to rent. Difficulty in getting a tee time depends on when you are going to be at WDW. If it's a peak time, like Spring Break, they are much more difficult than trying to book midday in August.

There have been some other recent posts here about golf, too. Maybe a search will bring them up. I think it's a great idea to surprise the fellows.

It would be helpful to know when you are going to give any info on rates as they range from $25 to $170 a round depending on time of year and time of day. Most expensive time of year is mid Jan through April) Least expensive is May to Sep. There are twilight (late afternoon rates) that are usually about half the daily rates and during "summer" (May to Sep) the "twilight" rate begins at 10 a.m. If staying on site, you can make tee times up to 90 days in advance (1-407-WDW-Golf). If you call 30 to 60 days out you can generally get anything you want. Moreover, if you are seeking after 10 a.m. tee time you can usually get what you want during a weekday by just calling the day before (weekends are a little tougher as many local residents play the courses).

There is a DVC discount program but if you are only going to play once a year, don't bother with it. To qualify for a discount you need to buy a DVC golf member card at one of the pro shops and it costs $85 plus tax (thus about $91). The card is good for a year and a member plus three guests can play using one card. The discount ranges from 20% to 40% per round depending on time of year and course played (larger percentage discount during the peak Jan to April season) but you need to play enough rounds so that the total discounts exceed the the cost of the golf card to achieve an actual savings. The discount applies only to rounds after 10 a.m.

There are 5 18-hole courses--Palm, Osprey Ridge, Eagle Pines, Magnolia, and Lake Buena Vista (many OKW units sit along the fairways of the Lake Buena Vista course). Osprey has the highest fee, followed by Eagle Pines, and the the other three charge the same price. If they can only play one, make it the Osprey as it is by far the most impressive course there, although all are very nice. You can rent clubs (Calloway's), $45 plus tax for steel shafted clubs and $60 plus tax for graphite shafted clubs. At that price, you should seriously consider bringing your own.
