OKW gave my groceries away

I think for sure it's Bell Services. I had an issue a couple of years ago...can't remember which resort though. I had cases of water delivered from Staples and when we arrived at the resort I asked at the front desk where I would find my delivery. I was told Bell Services. I got to BS and they tell me 'no, we don't have it....go to the front desk'. I go back to the desk and ask again. That CM actually made some calls and physically went to look in a few places. Then I'm told it must be at BS and I went back there again. There was a bit more back and forth before I got an older guy at BS who then walked to the front desk and when he came back he said that they had changed our room assignment and not told them....no idea what that had to do with anything. Anyway, that CM told me to go ahead and go to our room and he would figure it out. I think we were in the room for 10 minutes when the water arrived.

There are so many issues that I can't believe they haven't put a stop to it already. Seems like an area they can fix and it would shut down all the complaints easily by requiring a guest to meet the delivery. I get they've done it as a courtesy, and it's great, thus far but by now, it's got to be way more a headache than stopping it and dealing with the few who complain about having to meet the driver. I know folks don't like the idea of taking their time out to meet the driver but goodness, it's your order, your stuff you want, it only seems right that you should deal with getting it not the resort. Who by the way, doesn't make any money on doing it. Yeah, they charge you plenty. I get that. I still don't believe handling of groceries, storage of, etc, should be under the resort room price umbrella. So having you meet them solves ALL their issues.

I have to agree with this. It’s a service performed as a courtesy, and it seems to have gotten out of hand. Just the cost of maintaining the storage areas with refrigerators and freezers must be tremendous, not to mention keeping track of orders that are divided up and stored in all three sections, and it seems they’ve outgrown their capacity. I can see why they started it for DVC resorts that have full kitchens and guests who cook full meals, but still it appears to have outgrown capacity.

Hate to be a debbie downer but. This service is very low on disney's priority list. This does nothing for Disney (people will still come even if we don't accept their deliveries) but their employees' time. Maybe they figure if the service is bad enough people will stop doing it. As one previous poster stated, the rooms were designed and built to store luggage short term while people checked out or in. The staff are doing more with less preforming a service that Disney makes NO PROFIT on. I am sure the powers that be would love for the whole idea to go quietly into the goodnight.

Bet they had delivered it to what they thought was your room and went to retrieve it.

Wouldn’t even think of this I’d it weren’t for walking into my Pop room one trip and having my owners locker already sitting there.

Sometimes bell/luggage people do odd things unexpectedly!

Meeting the driver only works when both the resort guest and the delivery driver want the in-person delivery to take place. A little over a year ago, I ordered groceries and a bottle of wine from Amazon. I chose a delivery time when I could be there at the resort to receive the wine. I left very specific instructions to Amazon to have the driver call me upon arriving at the resort so that I could show my driver’s license and directly accept the wine. The Amazon delivery person chose to ignore it. My grocery items were delivered, and my bottle of wine was taken back. I was a little bit annoyed!

Same thing happened to us October 2018 at BWV. Groceries were delivered to bell services although I included a message requesting a call so I could meet the courier. I was waiting in the lobby. The courier couldn’t speak English and couldn’t communicate with the amazon Prime now supervisor either. She arrived about 3 hours after the delivery window. She was obviously overwhelmed. Perishables were in an insulated bag but weren’t cold. I am done with Amazon Prime Now. We now do a car service with a grocery shop.

Not if Disney refuses to accept any deliveries. In person will be the only option

I personally expect Disney to stop taking groceries, except from an authorized vendor in the near future. And it probably will only be one. That is what happened with the mobility scooters and strollers, just this May!!

Im surprised the groceries didn’t come first and years ago to be honest. It always surprised me Disney had no problems handling that. Seems more complicated than the strollers and mobility devices.

Hopefully if they switch to needing to meet a grocery delivery, this is communicated to Amazon Prime Now. I’ve been told more than once by bell services that Amazon Prime Now deliveries tend to get left anywhere (as opposed to Garden Grocer, which is a little bit more organized) and I’ve personally had the delivery driver choose to not contact me and instead decide it was easier to just return my bottle of wine. :rolleyes2

I can see Disney maybe, maybe not expanding its own grocery delivery service but either way not allowing any outside vendor to utilize Bell Services.

Well, October :D, but yeah.

My thoughts exactly! I could see them announce Garden Grocers as their authorized vendor, since they already have allocated space in Bell Services.

We’ve always used Garden Grocers and never had an issue. Love that you don’t have to be there and they will pick up alcoholic beverages, too. It’s a premium price but will continue to go through them in the future.

We just figured that they had stashed it someplace else and the original guy we dealt with couldn't be bothered....but the older guy actually wanted to be helpful. I do see that they could have taken it to the original room. Once I had ordered a really expensive pair of custom tap shoes for my DD from a place in Florida and arranged to get them delivered a couple of days into our trip. We came back from a park and found the box sitting on the bed.

I personally do not use Magic Express. By the time I get to Orlando I have been travelling a long time (hoping the Dramamine works) and I do not want to sit on a bus. I use a towncar service with a grocery stop to get from the airport to the hotel. There is a liquor store next to the Publix where they stop. I have not gone in the liquor store but the driver always points it out. I must look like I need a drink! Anyway, I'm not telling other people that they should do this, just that it works well for me. I can pick out what I want at the grocery store and take it with me.

If the room isn't ready, the items have to be stored at Bell Services. That is a different Bell Services issue (elminates the problem of drivers just randomly dropping stuff off, but does not solve the storage space issue.)

Good point, if Disney is really going to shut grocery delivery down due in part to “storage” will they continue to hold our groceries with the luggage, etc. ?

At least left with Bell Services.
They can't stop you from meeting someone at the resort to pick it up.
That’s what I did the last time. I met the Amazon grocery driver at the door.

(edited) I ordered through the Amazon Now app and it worked flawlessly. I had a number of bags delivered less than 2 hours after we arrived. My delivery included beer and wine. I did not include the tip in my order, I tipped the driver in cash.

If you order for home delivery do they just leave it on the doorstep? Or do you have to meet them? We don't live in a big enough city for Amazon Prime Now so I have no idea how it works.
