Actually, this is for my DM and her fiance. They're renting a condo in Fort Myers for the month of March and I just booked them the last 3 night of February at Old Key West in a studio so they can spend some time at Disney. They'll have a car. They'll spend some time in the parks, and they're also into shopping (well, my DM is), eating, and relaxing. Do the buildings have elevators...wondering if they should request 1st floor? Any recommendations for a building or location they should request? Any tips I should pass along about the resort? Do you really recommend Olivia's? Thanks in advance!!

Only 3 of the buildings have elevators. We are 60ish and DH has bad knees, but he doesn't find the stairs at OKW to be much of a problem. They are fairly low rise stairs.

I wouldn't necessarily request 1st floor, since that means you COULD be under a GV, and that is a noisy place to be. Especially the studios under a GV, because they are under the kitchen/dining room area, and with the wood floors above, there is alots of noise from moving chairs etc.

We like Olivia's a lot. I guess I'm wondering if they are doing the parks at all. Three days isn't long, and if they intend to do parks, there wont be much resort time left. OKW is a great place to relax though.

We really like OKW, the rooms are bigger than other DVC and we like parking so close to the rooms. We have stayed at Southpoint a couple of times, our unit was right next to the bus stop and a very short walk to a quiet pool and laundry. We had a 2nd story room, my brother had a 1st story room. The walk up the steps isn't too bad. We also stayed in a 1st floor studio on Old Turtle Pond road, right across from the bus stop. Very convenient. OKW is so relaxing and wonderful. And we love Olivia's for breakfast. Never tried any other meal there.

If your mom likes to shop downtown Disney is a good place to go. It's very close to OKW and has tons of stores and restaraunts. My Mom is a shopper too and she loved DTD.
