OKW extension... any thoughts about other resorts?

Sorry if this discussion was settled months back... my search doesn't work (does it for you?)... and things move pretty fast through these boards!

OKW extension has been spinning in my head... so what does that mean about other resorts?

When all this was designed up until SS they all ended 1/31/2042. Now they extend OKW... no mention of others?

Seem like I heard this could be a test... I hope they determine it successful!

It's so weird to think through it... other resorts already were "shorted" on their contracts in the beginning... like BC roughly 40 years to start.

Of course, the only thing that matters is today... everyone but the new ones and OKW extension... after tomorrow (1/31!) have 34 years.

Using round figures... at $100/pt divided by 34 years = $2.94
divided by 50 years = $2
So you are paying almost 50% more to buy the other resorts!

Sorry I got to rambling... but it is just spinning in my brain...

It could very well be a test. Other things to consider, the other WDW DVC 2042 resorts are an extension of a regular WDW resort, so perhaps the resort division will want them back as suites in 2042. DVC/Disney may be waiting to see extended market projections.

As a freestanding all villa resort, OKW would probably not be as useful to Disney as a regular WDW resort, as the "expected" amenities of room service and valet parking aren't offered there, and to be able to offer them, woudl require some construction for a parking lot and another service kitchen.

I agree 100% -- this is another argument against going for the OKW extension as there is a good chance that BWV,BCV and VWL will not be options for reservations on those last 15 years.

I still cant get over how old i will be when this extension will begin.....I somehow feel like I would be making an impulse buy for something I most likely wont be able to enjoy....As far as passing it on to your kids, As far as I'm concerned, after i finish paying north of $200,000 for college costs they can get a job and pay for me

That's an interesting thought...

Of course, any of us, with dead contracts, and able to travel those last 15... will be paying big bucks for rooms... huge bucks for suites... wishing for the good old days... and probably envious of those at OKW, SS and AKV!

For more than one reason, all of us better enjoying the heck out of the next 34 years!!!

I say... let them get a student loan... imagine the points you could enjoy today with $200,000!!!

I'm with you on the student loan....but my wife continues to tell me about this responsibility thing, which is really overrated.....here's to 34 more years before I am sipping oatmeal through a straw!!!!!!!
