Thankfully, we'll be staying at OKW this fall. It's one resort we always visited having stayed at SSR several times and we are looking forward to enjoying everything OKW has to offer - especially the beautiful palms and the peaceful atmosphere it seems to have.

Having said that, I would like to know from the experts which building in your opinion is THE worst to stay in and why. And if you feel liking sharing which building you think is the best, too, that's great!

Thanks so much. :cool2:

We stayed in building 62 on our most recent stay at OKW. It is right across the road from where you check in with quick access to Olivia's, a pool, a bus stop and the boat dock to DTD. Here is a map that might help...

The absolute WORST building I have ever stayed in is hands down, building 29. There is no view from the balcony, and you are totally hemmed in. I would say our second least favorite 36. We stayed in 36 last December, and our 1 bedroom balcony overlooked building 33 and directly looked into the windows of that building. I never felt comfortable enough to actually use the balcony that trip, and those OKW balconies are my favorite.

Our favorite buildings are 45 and 46 along the canal. Very peaceful. We also like 15, 16, 20 and 55.

I have found my expert!! Thanks for the quick reply. 36 sounds awful. I'm not on vacation to stare at my "neighbor" either. And like you, I look forward to spending time out on the balcony. Why is 29 so awful?

Thank you SAINTSTICKETS for the map!

Also, are there three floors to all of the buildings?

We stayed in Bldg 36 several years ago and thought it wasn't so bad. We also thought 29 (or it might have been 28) was horrible. The trees and shrubs were overgrown and blocked the view. We also stayed in 55 and liked it a lot. The one bedroom had a nice canal view. But the studio next to us (we didn't have it booked) had a totally blocked view.

We stayed in 55 once and it was horrible. We were on the end and had a view of mostly trees, with a bit of water in between them. Worst of all, it was right over the hot tub, and loud groups of people were there all hours of the night. It was the loudest OKW room we ever had.

We like 12,13,15,16, and 43. Of course, any building will have some rooms with good views and some with less than good views.

Hmm. Room overlooking hot tub? We had that over at SSR. Thankfully it wasn't a direct view because we were on the corner, but when we sat out at night and heard undefined noises, we knew where it was coming from. Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it.

The "hot tub" room at 55 is on the left end of the building, so would end in 10 or 20.

Deb, I suspect building 36 wouldn't be bad if you were on the other end of the building, but we were on the right hand end, so our view was building 33. The other end would have a golf view.

I just wanted to add that for the most part, that map is a good one to check on possible views. The buildings along the Miller's Road area have really nice golf course/pond views as do most of the buildings in the 23-26 Peninsular Road loop. Building 15 is also a favorite of ours with a golf/woods view and in a great location for accessing both Miller's Road and HH bus stops. Some do not care for 52, 53, & 54 but we don't mind those either. Building 14 is just okay. Not awful and not great. I don't care for the Turtle Pond buildings we have stayed in. We have stayed in 36, 39, & 40, and I didn't care for any of those so much.

If after 10pm, it should have only be loud for as long as it took to call security and have them come over there.

My favorite would be 45 or 46. Wife thinks it's too far to walk to the hot tub, but she likes the view, so we aim for that if we can get it. Really didn't care for 29 at all, and we haven't stayed in anything on Turtle pond that we liked.

I agree about bldg. 29. I also would not want to stay in 19 which is basically right on top of the Miller's Road pool. We were put in 54 in February where the golf view was pretty well blocked by trees, but was right across from the South Point pool. We prefer 30-33, 62, and 16. 45 and 46 are also really nice. One time when we stayed in 45, some of our party were returning from DTD by boat, and the captain pulled right up to the bank and let them off there. She probably shouldn't have done that, but it's a nice memory of that stay.

Brenle, you don't mention what type of accomodations you are getting. Studios tend to have the toughest views, often due to overgrown vegetation and being on the corners. We had an OKW GV stay planned and arrived a day early, booking a studio and the room was on the bottom floor, near the a/c's, it was so dark, the shrubs were so overgrown, light didn't even come in. The only request we've made at OKW has been for GV's, over the years I've found Bldng. 15 is the one we like best. Our typical stays are in 2 br's, and to date w/out requests (20 +/- stays) we've never been disapointed with the location or the view.

I love and use our balconies, and OKW's balconies really extend your living space. Over the years we've gotten Bldngs. 15 GV, 19, 45, 46, 49 GV, 53 GV, 55, and I guess thankfully never 29 that I can recall! If we plan on BBQing it's nice to be by the quiet pools where they are located! We'll be there in June, hopefully we get #15, if not it will still be great!

The building 15 GVs are our favorites too! We actually requested that again in January and loved that we got it!

The bad building is the one with the kids jumping up and down on the floor above me, the parents who think that "junior is so cute when he runs up and down the stairs screaming at the top of his lungs at 6 am (or midnight)" or where the couple has WWIII on the porch/patio.

Other then that I have done well :) And you can't control the other guests put near you

LOL! We haven't had that happen often, but when we get the early morning or late night noisy upstairs kids, I find a well placed broom handle to the ceiling gets the point across just fine.;)

We just stayed in 19 over Easter. Our room was on the left side of the building and we weren't bothered by the pool at all. We couldn't see it from our room and only once, around 11AM did we hear noise coming from that area. We did like the convenience for catching the bus.

It was loud past 10, that's for sure. I didn't call security, didn't even think of it because they were doing nothing wrong. The sound really carried, like they were standing right outside our second floor window, I think the acoustics outside that particular room really amplified the voices.

I've only stayed once at OKW and was assigned Building 52. While we enjoyed our stay, our time on the balcony was a little annoying with the constant roar of traffic from the highway.

Also, buildings 52 and I believe 51's parking lot also act as the bus turnaround. It was downright scary loading our kids into the rental car with busses wizzing only 5 feet from us as they made the turn around for their stop.

If it is loud enough for you to hear them, as long as windows and doors are closed it is loud enough for security to remind them others are sleeping and hold it down.
