We will be going home the beginning of April and we are trying to decide whether to fly down the day before so that we can be there for early check-in the next morning and we are also thinking that it will be easier to fly late afternoon/early evening for our one year old granddaughter as our son and his family will be coming with us. My question is are they still doing the early arrivals get their choice upon check in. We first experienced this in October although we have been members since 93. I have to say, I did like the fact that we could get in early, but I didn't have a problem with the other way either because we normally book 11 months out and I did like the fact that my preferences did matter because of the 11 month ahead booking. Anyway, just wanted to know what experiences people have had recently. Also, those with babies, which did you find easier for flying, early morning or late afternoon/early evening?

We went first of December and had to wait 'til 2:30ish to get a room assignment. We checked in but they gave us a card with their number on it to call "later" with a room number. The key they had already given us worked too.

I can't answer your check-in question since we haven't been to WDW since October (and our room at OKW was preassigned when we checked in). However, I can try to answer your question about flying with babies. I think the ideal time of day for flying depends on the child's schedule and personality. I always try to book flights that are at naptime or bedtime. My "energetic" one year old slept most of our mid-morning flight because it was his naptime. He was fussy during our late afternoon flight home because he wasn't tired and he didn't want to stay in his seat.

Went to OKW early Dec. and rooms were preassigned. I checked in at 7 AM and was told I could get a room then but forget any requests. I stayed with the assigned room and it was not ready until 3:30 but they did satisfy all my requests. Reserved 7 months out.

I went in early December also and I was in two different rooms because I went elsewhere in the middle of my stay. The first night we arrived after 4pm so my room was all assigned and ready when I got there. The last night that I was there and staying at OKW I got there like 10:00am or something like fully expecting that my room wouldn't be ready and I wouldn't even know what room I had. They had a room that was cleaned and ready but because I was solo was too far from the bus and I knew I was going to be getting in very late (went to MVMCP). So I told the lady why I didn't want that room and she kept looking, based on my requests, and was able to get me another room, in the area that I wanted and it was great. I did tell her that I didn't need my room right now if that helped. She was very good and great to be working with - I wish I could remember her name.
