My wife and i are palnning our first stay at OKW with our three boys(9,8 and 6 years old). Looking for suggestions on the best units and rooms to stay at.

Thanks

have you seen the resort map? http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/OKWmap.jpg

with children the ages of yours you may want to request near the hospitality house for easy access to the main pool. but if you prefer something less busy, the turtle pond road neighborhood is great because of the pool with the snack bar.

wherever you consider, i DO NOT recommmend bldg # 44 since it is where the buses turn around and you suffer from bus traffic from 6am to midnight [later during summer park hours]. we are here now and are in said unit...and we are MISERABLE!...the good news is that the weather is GREAT!

What size unit are you getting? If you are getting a 1 or 2 bedroom, there aren't many bad ones. If you are getting a studio...not many good views.

We just booked our August trip with friends (8 of us) and requested the same building we had two years ago #26 by Peninsular Road stop. We were on the second floor in a two bedroom, gorgeous view of water and golf green. Walked out our door to the bus stop in like 30 seconds (first stop for drop off), two minute walk across the bridge to Hospitality House, pool and ferry. Great location. Turtle Pond area is really nice too - we liked building 33 there. You can just use the map to see where you'd like to be, or when you check-in, ask which units are available and they'll point them out to you.
Also, if you're not happy for any reason when you get to your room, just go back to the front desk and they'll change rooms for you - we've done this several times and avoided being disappointed with our patio view.
Enjoy - OKW is our favourite! And you'll have so much room for the kids if you're in a 1-2 bedroom!

We have stayed in 55 and 46 and really enjoyed it. It is as far away as possible from the HH so if you want to be close to the big pool or restaurants, this isn't a good choice. But it is close to a small pool which I have never seen crowded, there is a playground, and a hot tub, and the bus stop is close. It is also the closest you can get to DTD and we love walking to that area rather than messing with buses.
Wherever you stay, I think you'll love OKW.

One of the reasons we love the back area so much is the view of the water and the wildlife. There are birds and willdlife running around and boats coming and going. It's just very relaxing compared to the run and crazy of the parks.

we will be in a 1 br
I would ask for building 30 or higher---29 and below do not have a door between the LR and the bath. 30 and higher do.

Unless things have changed, there is a "change fee" under those circumstances of asking for a new room.

You can no longer just "request" building 26 unless you have booked the guaranteed booking catagory of Hospitality House. If you booked HH catagory, then you can go ahead and request that.

I agree with the previous poster, with young boys I would want to be near the near the hospitality house and probably on a bottom floor so they would not have to worry about bouncing around and distrubing others.

It's just a slightly different layout. In the past year, we've been in 1BRs in 35 and 27. They looked identical to me in all other ways, and I'm not aware of any other systemic issues.

Are the rooms smaller or older in building 29 and below or is the door the only issue with those buildings?

The only difference is the door. While the resort was being built, the design flaw was discovered and changed for the buildings 30 and higher.

We just booked a trip and were told by the WDW representative that one can only request to stay near the Hospitality House, no guarantee, only a request. So we are on hold right now so we can talk to a second representative and get a second opinion. Anybody have anything to add, or can you only be guaranteed this if you are booking through the DVC (we are DVC members but this trip are paying cash).

Thank you in advance for any advise!
