Please; if there is a thread on this please point me to it.

We just returned from a week at WDW and stayed at OKW for the second time (different room, 1333 1st trip, 1323 2nd trip) and we are sore because of the hardness (seems to us) of the beds. We hardly (pardon the pun) slept because they are so hard. Anyone else find them uncomfortable?

What about the beds in the Villas at Wilderness Lodge? We will be staying there in October.

:surfweb:

i know they are a lot firmer than those at AKV and SSR...(but if you've been hitting the parks hard enough during the day, it's still very comfortable for sleeping...;) )

Yes you are correct. We stayed in SSR last November and the beds were much softer and we slept much better there. :goodvibes

We stayed at OKW in October and found the beds to be less than comfy, so I don't think its just you.

Totally agree that the beds at OKW are hard and uncomfortable. I stayed there February - March 08 and had a very sore back each day. The floor was softer.

On the bright side of it: I had tried sleeping on a sleeper sofa at SSR before my OKW experience and thought they were hard. Well, after OKW the sleeper sofa at SSR seemed alright.

I'm hoping that OKW beds will get more comfortable as they "break in" a bit. Maybe we should all jump up and down on the OKW beds to tenderize them?

You are too funny! OKW is… What? Ten+ years old now? I hope the mattresses have been replaced at least once in that time. My DD WAS jumping up-and-down on one bed in the second bedroom and stopped and complained that they don’t have a good bounce. My DH refers to them as “spring loaded slabs of concrete!” :rotfl2:

My last stay at VWl was in 2007, I thought the beds were very good! I even said to my husband how well I slept. I love the beds at AKV's Concierge. I don't know if the other rooms have the same mattresses or not, but we slept great!

Last stay at OKW was for 7 days and I was ready to go home for my nice soft bed.

Long time lurker. First post :-) We bought AKV April 08 and are staying at Kidani for the first time NOV 09.

Are the beds different at various disney properties? One thing I was hoping with DVC was a better quality bed that the Disney moderates (where we typically used to stay) provide. If anyone has stayed at a Marriott the last couple years that is the quality of bed I would expect with the sort of investment DVC is. We stayed on developer points at SSR Oct 08 and I was a little disapointed. I thought the bed was about the same as other disney properties I stayed at.

Nope, not the only 1. I have never rolled out of bed and called to complain, but our OKW bed was hard as a rock the last time we stayed there which was about 2 years ago.

We didnt check in until after 3am and by 6am I was calling for an eggcrate! MK did bring one, but no bed should be that hard.

OTOH, I really like SSR beds. Most of the resorts seem to be on par.

We should start a "Bed Thread" and everyone can post pics of their assigned unit's beds and sleepers. (Mattresses of course, not the made up bed:goodvibes)

Last time I stayed at VWL the sofa's were still the old style with the bar across the back and my boys complained. We have not stayed there since, so beds are definitely important. We stay for 2 weeks at a time and I could not bear it.

I started a thread just like this when we came home in January. Our king size bed was almost unsleepable until they brought an egg crate.

We've owned there since '96, and it's the first time I remember the bed being uncomfortable.

The queens in the other room were fine.

I've had the same thing at BCV. A deluxe resort should have deluxe beds. The one we had was like sleeping on a pile of bricks. I didn't sleep all week.

We just returned from OKW also with achy backs, which is unusual for us. Glad to hear it wasn't just us!

Yep - we were there in Feb and had a rock hard bed......back was sore every morning.

But - it didnt stop us from book OKW again for our Oct trip.

I will inquire about an egg crate for our bed this time......

I travel alot for work and am usually not picky about beds but the king in the 1 bedroom at BWV last fall was very firm.

Sounds like we should start writing letters to complain to DVC!!

Those beds should be deluxe pillowtop beds, not uncomfortable slabs!

Maybe it's just me, but we've been staying at OKW on a regular basis since 1992 and never had any problem with the beds....

I agree. While DVC is a good deal is you are a regular Disney goer it still represents a big commitment to Disney. Nice beds would seem to be called for to me.

I was just thinking the same thing!. In 2000 I encountered a few very hard beds, but I have to say that in my last 3 stays in 07 & 08 I thought the beds were new and quite comfortable.

Perhaps they've been changed dirung refurbishment!

We stayed at OKW for the first time back in September. We were really looking forward to it but those beds were horrible. I didn't sleep well all week and trust me, I need my sleep or I'm not a happy person. Unfortunately it was bad enough to prevent us from staying there until the mattresses are changed. We've never had a problem like that with any of the other DVC resorts. I thought it was just us too!
