Has anyone done an Addon at OKW recently through Disney?

What use year and how long was your wait?

Thanks,

There are currently no OKW add-ons available through Disney. The last time Disney offered OKW add-ons was a couple of years ago when they completed the new units that were built to replace the Commodore House. If you are interested in an add-on for a particular use year, you can get on a notify list at The Timeshare Store and they will call you first when they have what you are looking for.

My guide said they may & do get some available (either repo's for non payment, etc). Just wanting to know if anyone has gotten some recently and the wait time.

Thanks

You are correct.....last year they had some type of lottery for add-on points. I did enter and did not win. However my guide did call me towards the end of the summer and I was able to add on 50 points at OKW. My guide told me that sometimes that are able to offer add-ons here and there......

I have heard very limited add-ons lately from Disney. They do occur from some people who have not been able to pay and also from Disney right to first refusal on resales.

Good Luck!
Ed

Thanks disneyma, I'll keep my name on the list and hope something comes up soon.

they have had some recent add-on points available $75 per point

a friend was waiting and got a call last week

We have been on the OKW waitlist through Disney since late last November. We were waiting for an April use year. I talked to our guide this week and we are still 7th or so on the list. We were hoping to take the MB offer. Our $75/point price has been locked in for 30 days past June 2nd, when the price rises to $80.

All that doesn't really matter right now though. We just persuaded someone to accept our offer of $58/point for 150 points. So as long as there aren't any hangups, we just got the same thing as what Disney would give us for less price than the MB would give us. Now we just have to knock on wood and hope everything goes well. ;)

yesdisneyfool...some of the information on this thread and another thread with the same subject is not correct (sorry about the length of this post).

This is what I KNOW about OKW add-on through Disney.

1) We bought 5 - 125 point contracts, June OKW, from Disney to add on to the points we already have and closed on January 9, 2002.

2) We took advantage of the $10 MB off the $75 price (we got tons of frequent flier miles from American Express as we paid the down payments during their double miles promotion).

3) We are on the waiting list again now for more OKW points.

4) In late October of 2001 we stayed at OKW on one of our trips (it was our 23rd trip since 1995). We visited with our guide and discussed purchasing a 600 point resale. We wouldn't commit to purchasing the resale until Disney made a commitment to allow us to break up the contract into 4 - 150 point contracts.

5) We told our guide that we were planning a major financial commitment to DVC and as such expected Disney to afford us the maximum cooperation in assisting us reach our goal of acquiring enough points for us to winter at OKW when we retire (2800 points or so).

6) OKW was the ONLY resort we were interested in for too many reasons to list here.

7) We knew that Disney was buying back points on at least an occasional basis from their right-of-first-refusal.

8) We said if you won't let us split up a large resale contract sell us the "dusty points you have in your attic". Of course meaning the points they had been purchasing over the years.

9) Two weeks or so later our guide called us and said he went as far up as he could but couldn't get approval to split up a resale (I know what the official position is on splitting up a resale contract).

10) I asked him to call us back as soon as we could buy the points "you have in your attic".

11) A couple of days later (this is late November) he called me back and said they were starting up a wait list to sell these points and that I was first on the list.

12) A couple of days after that he called and told us the contracts were in the mail.

13) The closing dragged on as long as it did because we originally had 4 contracts of 150 points then decided to make it 5 contracts of 125 points and had to wait for new paperwork.

14) We bought an add-on at OKW in October of 2000 but that inventory came from the Commodore House being removed and the new buildings added to the resort. It had nothing to do with the situation above (we now have 8 add-on contracts).

This is what I BELIEVE about OKW add-on through Disney.

1) The timing was perfect for what I asked for. OKW, BWV sold out. WLV either sold out or nearly so. BCV wouldn't be available for a few months still. Not to mention the uncertain economy shortly after September 11. How can you keep sales people busy if you have nothing to sell? The answer...look around and fill the shelves with whatever you have that the customer wants to buy.

2) They can break up contracts IF they want to. They have in the past. They don't want to anymore.

3) Points from each of the sold out resorts will become available and they will sell them.

ps. I'm writing this from home (early am) but we'll be at OKW this afternoon until Friday the 12th so don't be offended if I don't reply to posts following this one until we get back.

:D
Just got the most magical call from my guide. I GOT 75pts @ OKW FOR FEB USE YEAR. :D

I've been on the list less than a week. Good luck to all it appears magic may be on its way.:D

yes disney fool: Congratulations! What is your grand point total now? I think I will call my guide tomorrow and get on the list. Thanks for posting your update.

About a month ago I just called on a fluke and asked if there were any OKW addon's. Lisa said "Oh no they've been sold out for years" I said "Well you go look and call me back, I'm just looking 100 pts." She said she would and talk to me later. Two hours later she called and said 100 pts no problem and the contracts would be mailed out the next day. I had 2 share the magic coupons for 200 each that I wanted to use towards the downpayment. Well the first set of documents included no coupons(1 week delay) Second set of documents only one coupon applied (2 week delay because of BCV sales starting) Haven't received last set of contract but am still excited. 75 a pt with the early beginnings making it 65 with an august use year, same as my original contract. Call and ask, it works
