Hi all! We will be staying in a 2 bedroom lock-off in OKW in 3 weeks. Since my daughter will be staying in the living area on the pull out couch, she was hoping to find a way to put up some type of privacy barrier at the opening from the hallway, so she is not disturbed by people walking from the studio across to the master bedroom. (we already realize she will be sharing the room with the kitchen and we've worked that out :) ) If anyone is going to OKW in a 1 or 2 bedroom in the next week or so and can tell me how large the opening coming into the living area, I would appreciate it. We are trying to decide if it's possible to put up a tension shower curtain rod and hang a curtain, or if we'll have to think of another idea.

Thanks!

Kristen

It has been a few years since I have stayed in a 2 bedroom villa at OKW, but if my memory serves me correctly, it will be difficult to do what you are describing.

I believe the door to the studio is past where the entry foyer is.

One possible solution to the problem is what we did a few years ago. We took an air mattress and placed it in the corner on the other side of the dining room table. Then created a little "fort" around the air mattress to offer privacy.

Here is the floor plan for the OKW 2BR villa:

OK I guess I'm just not understanding.(Trying to since we will be using a 2 bed OKW in Feb). But why would the people in the studio not just use the studio bathroom. And my understanding is not all have a entrance in to the master bath from the laundry room (only 30 and above). Under 30 you have to actually go in from the master bedroom.

The reason being is that all of the party wants to use the "big" bathtub :)

We're thinking about propping an air mattress in front of the opening from the hallway into the kitchen/living area.

Thanks

The opening to the living room is very large, I would guess about 8 feet or so, which would be very difficult to put up a tension rod. Your guests in the studio would have no reason to come into the living room early in the AM, unless you were all up, including your daughter. Your studio guests already have a bathroom, coffee pot, and TV. The only thing they might need is the laundry room, and they can use that later in the day.

Here's what you could do, however.

Look for the big suction cups that are used by travellers
to temporarly hang clothes lines in motel/hotel rooms that do not have that facility.

The one I am thinking of has a plastic thingy that opens and closes to create the holding power but there are others that can be found in a craft store that are used to hang wreathes, etc, etc.

One on each side of the opening and a piece of cord strung between with a "curtain" hanging = privacy.

I'm not sure an air mattress would work. If you look at the location of the connecting door to the studio on the floor plan, there is not much wall on the opposite side. The kitchen wall on that side extends only as far as the end of the counter. Whatever you wedge in there would have to be put in at an angle which might interfere with opening the door to the studio. I guess you could keep the door on the 1BR side open all the time and just open/close the inner door on the studio side. A tension rod put up at ceiling level might allow you to open and close the door if you can find one long enough. I don't remember how large that opening is but from the floor plan it looks like it's about the same width as the sofa.

The walls are textured and will not support a suction cup.

Personally, I think this is not a very good idea. Get daughter a studio if she is that concerned about her privacy.

You do realize that the jacuzzi tub area is open to the master bedroom, correct?

I agree, that it's not a good a idea. I'm confused as to why the daughter needs privacy, but the adults in the studio are going to take a bath in the other couple's bedroom? I don't want to judge, but the tubs probably will not hold 4 adults at once! :confused3 Or maybe the studio couple are going to take a jacuzzi bath while the other couple watch through the shutters?:lmao:

Why not just use the 1 bedroom portion as a 1 bedroom and the studio as a studio. If others want to use the big tub, can't they do that when your daughter is awake and you are not in the bedroom? I am very confused as to this whole situation!:confused3 Can't they just use the hot tub by the pool?

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Watching through the shutters.

I'm not sure I really want to know, yet I can't help but to subscribe. popcorn::

OK probably Too Much Information, but my family talks about when it would be convenient to use the whirlpool. DS and his girlfriend didn't have a problem with that. We get the King Bed, and were in the parks long before them;)

The solution is simple, give the daughter the studio since the other two couples are doing the Love In.

Or, she can sleep in a sleeping bag zippered shut, or wait, under the pull out... Come on people

The jacuzzi is larger than most, but it is not going to hold four adults. Maybe two smaller ones.

Whoever gets this room after the OP, make sure you bring the dishwasher tablets. ;)

A sleeping bag and/or single blow up mattress would work in the laundry room, it has a door! Yes, it's perhaps a little dismal but it's private. I've read people on these threads put their kids to nap in there!

Don't forget that the pumps are fairly loud on those big tubs, the noise would likely disturb your daughter, anyway.

Absolutely amazing. Don't people think about the questions before they post them?

Wow, that's kind of harsh.
