Sorry to bother you all again, but as my trip nears I need a little more assistance.I am looking a hotwire and see 4 possible zones,
Will Rogers World Airport OKC
Central Oklahoma City
North Okalhoma City- nichols hills
Quail Springs-Edmund
Is there a certain area I should definitely stay away from? I will be meeting my parents here, driving in from I-40 west boud, and my parents driving in I-40 east bound. Any info would be greatly appreciated. We are going to go ahead and stay 2 nights and hang out with my parents. I know that here in town, there are certain areas of town that you would NOT want to stay in a hotel.. I can oly assume that OKC has a "bad" part of toen too. Would I be safe using hotwire or priceline for a room, or should I just get a good clean room recomendation from one of you all and book thru them directly? TIA

OK never mind about priceline, I don't even see an Oklahoma section on biddingfortravel.com

Well priceline shows the following areas
Crossroads - Moore Area Details
Frontier City Area Details
Oklahoma City Area Details
Oklahoma City North Area Details
Quail Springs Area Details
Tinker - Del City Area Details
Will Rogers Airport Area (OKC) Area Details
Any help would be great :-)

I used to live in OKC, and I can tell you that the Quail Springs/Edmond area is nice. Quail Springs Mall is nice and has a new movie theater, etc., in it. The mall is on Memorial Road (runs east and west between Edmond and OKC). Lots of newer shopping centers and restaurants along there. It's been a while since I've been up there, and I think it is still growing.

IMO - Don't stay out by the airport! Nothing much out there for people to do who are visiting the city. I wouldn't do the Tinker/Del City/Crossroads/Moore thing either. The areas are fine if you live there, but they are older and I don't remember them having much to do (Except for Crossroads Mall, which I also think has a movie theater.)

Nichols Hills is the fanciest old neighborhood in the city, but I don't know exactly what hotels they would be talking about when they say "Nichols Hills". There is a nice mall (Penn Square) in that area, but there are good and bad parts surrounding Nichols Hills.

Frontier City is on I-35 and is pretty close to Edmond and Memorial Road. There might be some new hotels along there.

If it were me, I'd do the Quail Springs/Edmond thing. But then again, I lived in Edmond and am fairly familiar with the area.

THank you! Can you recommend any particular hotels in that area in case priceline/hotwire dont work out?

When we go to the Big XII Baseball Tournament in OKC we stay in the Bricktown area. It's a great place to park your car and walk.... lots of eating establishments and a lazy boat ride... plus baseball if that is one of your interests. :)

I can't think of the names of the hotels right now.... but they are both within walking distance of the Murrah Building - the site of the OKC bombing. That IMO is a definite must see.

Have a great trip!!!!

Just looked up a link -

We stay at the Westin but the Mariott is right across the street.

CJ,
How is the Westin. I see that some people have won Westin from priceline, I think.

Oh yeah - Bricktown is a great area, too. You should definitely at least visit downtown/Bricktown even if you don't stay there. But if you priceline a hotel in the downtown area, I'd do at least 3 stars or whatever they call them on priceline.

If you decide to do the Memorial Road/Quail Springs area, I think all the hotels within 2 miles or so of Quail Springs Mall are pretty new.

Have a fun trip!!

We love it! It's nothing fancy, but the rooms are clean and the people are nice.
