I was doing so well, doing 5-6 days a week WATP in the mornings, and yesterday as I was leaving work, I fell and sprained my ankle and foot. :(
The doctor said I am lucky I didn't fracture anything....all I could think of was my exercise...... :(
I leave for FL next week and should be okay in terms of walking...still sore of course, but I can't do any workouts for at leat 4-7 days, depending on swelling.
I am just feeling so down today. I felt so motivated and I am so scared this is going to get me "out of the groove"!
Just could use some encouragment and motivation....
(I did manage last night to do some crunches, ankle brace and all!)

Thanks everyone for listening!
Kamy

PS- By the way, I lost 1lb this week. :)

Oh dear, sorry to hear you got hurt. Just take it easy and utilize the time that you would have worked out and read some fitness magazines, or websites on fitness/motivation. Keep your head "in the game" that way. Don't worry about getting out of the groove, when you come back from Florida, promise yourself that the very next day you will get up and work out to WATP. and then hopefully the rest will follow.

Congrats on the 1# loss! And enjoy your trip to Florida!!!!

Kamy I am soo sorry to hear you hurt yourself! ***PD** for a speedy recovery before your trip!

Didn't I read somewhere once about chair aerobics?

I was just on Shape magazines website, they have tons of stuff on it, maybe you can find some great arm/shoulder/back moves to do while sitting?

Are you allowed to go swimming? water aerobics?

Or maybe it's just time for a week off for you. Sometimes that is a good thing to stay in focus and not get burned out!

You are such an inspiration for me:)

Thanks to both of you! Helps so much to hear kind words and get some advice! Now if I didn't have to be at work! LOL!!

Kamy

Kamy, the fact that you did crunches and exercised some even after getting hurt shows you have the determination to keep with this NO MATTER WHAT!!! Just take care of yourself and let that foot heal so you can have a fabulous vacation! :D

Kamy, I totally agree with Liz! You are definitely motivated -- the sheer fact that you found another way to exercise proves it!

I hope your ankle/foot heals really quickly -- just remember to be gentle with it and not push yourself! :)

Another one who agrees with Liz, you are definitely determined and motivated!!

So sorry you did that to your ankle! I hope it heals quickly for you!!

{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}, Kamy! Just keep doing those crunches and arm thingies, you'll have some extra muscles by weeks end. Also, inspired by KathyTX, browse those catalogs and pick out some perfect outfits in a size 8!

Sorry, Kamy, I think I was wishing for a size 8 for me. You can fantasize about a size 2.:)

OUCH!!! That hurts just thinking about it! Well, I like the suggestion about reading fitness magazines. Also- I think you could probably do some kind of excercise taht didn't involve your porr little foot. :( I sure hope it gets lots better by next week, but if it becomes too sore while in WDW, there is always the wheelchair...... it'll get you to the front of the line!! :p That would be the silver lining in this cloud!

Hi Kamy! I know you have gotten my PM about this so I won't repeat myself, I just wanted you to know I was thinking healing thoughts for you. Hang in there buddy!

I agree with Princess Vija. Keep yourself mentally focused, even if you can't be physically focused. And stick to your eating plan. That will make you feel better.

Kamy, you listen to that Dr!!!!

Congratulations on the 1 pound loss!!! :) Just stay on program and if you can do ANYTHING without using your ankle/foot, then go for it! BUT don't feel bad about not being able to WATP. Better to give your body time to heal and then pick it back up later than to fret about something you have no control over!

We are all here to keep you motivated, so once you get the green light to exercise again, we will be ALL OVER YOUR CASE! ;) HEE HEE! (I meant hee hee!) ;)

You just focus on how far you have come and how great you look and feel now (minus the ankle pain!) ;) It could have been a worse injury, so lets give some big ol' thanks that you only have to rest your foot a short time!!! Just have a funtastic Florida vacation and you can get back into that exercise groove when you are home again!

I believe in you! :)

Poor Kamy's foot! Please don't try to rush getting back to things - you certainly don't want to make your injury any worse! I agree with the others - surf some websites and look at the weight lifting (small hand weights) you can start implementing into your plan. Here I have been zooming along with my WATP tapes, even moved up to 3# weight, so I decided to add some upper body work with those same 3 # weights. Guess what? OUCH! LOL! I found some muscles even Leslie wasn't working. ;)

I bet you could easily do some of these without any pressure on your ankle. I think this should give you a link.... http://www.muscleandfitnesshers.com/hers/062502/strength_train.html You are doing fabulous! You are focused and motivated!! You are successing!!! So take care of yourself and enjoy that 1 pound loss!! :teeth:

Now, Kamy...you aren't going to get out of the groove, you know better than that! You are too motivated and determined to do that. You can't do your work out right now but you will be walking all over creation on your trip.

You can sit in a chair and use weights and work on your upper body. It may not be the work out you are used to but it's still using muscles. Take care of your ankle, you don't won't to aggravate your injury.

So, try to concentrate on how successful you have been, how much progress you have made. Remember how much your determination and motivation has helped your fellow WISHers stay focused on their goal.

It's going to be alright, Kamy. Don't make me have to drive over there to Brownston, I don't even know where that is, never fear, I have OnStar, I will find you.

Take care of your ankle. Look forward to your trip. Remember that we believe in you and you need to start believing in yourself. I happen to think you are pretty special, I'm older than you and very wise , I know exactly what I'm talking about ;)

Kelsie! Glo! Stop giggling, I am too wise! Oh alright...maybe I'm not wise but I am old ;)

Oh Kamy, I am so sorry to hear about your sprained ankle! I know it's a bummer when something gets in the way of a WISHer's exercising! But, this is how I would look at it: it's a bump in the road and it's temporary! You know, we are going for lifestyle changes here, and that means that sometimes life will throw us a curve ball along the way. Two months from now it might be a cold, or the flu, or some other nasty but we just have to go with the flow. I agree that it is important to follow Dr's orders, because it will help speed your recovery! But maybe you can get creative, like with your crunches or maybe sit on a chair and lift light weights, until you get the go ahead to start your walking up again! Keep your spirits up, and before you know it your ankle will be good as new!

Linda

So sorry about your ankle, Kamy. I know that as soon as you can you will be back in the groove. Right now, I'd say the main thing is to get it better so that you can enjoy your trip! Watching what you eat and maybe doing the upper body stuff will make you feel better too. Take care!
