Okay,
I told my wife that we can NEVER go back to the Polynesian again!.. Thats because we probably won't ever be able to get the same room as this time. We were assigned room 1914, which is at the very end of the beach side of Tokelau, and it faced the beach/Marina. It was nice to have those Tiki Torches outside our window and we could see boats arriving and Monorails gliding by behind the Wedding pavillion. It was also nice to just step outside the door and see fireworks and electric water parade.
The polynesian was great, the pool was really nice. It was "almost" crowded at all times, but we never had a problem getting chairs. There are alot of them by the beach if the ones by the slide are full. The slide did close each night at 8pm and the pool remained opened until 12.
We requested our room cleaned by 12pm each day, and it was. We also requested turn down service and that was great except for the last day. It appeared they only did 1/2 of the job, they only turned down 1 bed, closed the curtains and that was it. They left all the wet towels. I did call to get more towels and told the CM on the phone about what happenend and they said I should tell that to a manager, so I did, and this is where it gets strange. The Hotel manager and the Housekeeping manager both said they have not even gotten to our building yet (It was 9pm, they do turn down until 9:45) They have no clue to who came in and did 1/2 of the turn down. They did send someone over immediatly, so it was all handled with great customer service. I just asked to have the dirty towels removed and new towels and soap, since it was late, they didn't need to do the full service. They brought over a load more towels and a bunch of the H2O products for us. I almost think I could open an H2O store with what they brought me. I think someone started in the building and started with our room (It was the very first room by the door) and got called away. No big deal.
It was nice to walk over to the Grand Floridian, it gives a nice change of scenary, we pointed out the balcony of the room we stayed in for our Honeymoon many years ago to our kids. they didn't like the GF alot, I think it just seemed too formal for them. We will probably stay there again in the future, if we ever take a day or two alone for vacation.
The MK was really nice during Little Ones Extra Morning Hour, it was very low on crowds and the characters were all over. Stitch played Duck Duck Stitch with my dughter and son. They played tag with Pooh and Tigger and some strange spelling game with Alice and Mad hatter. Goofy rode the Carousel while we were on it, and stitch rode Dumbo ALOT. At 9 we headed over to Space Mountain and got to ride a couple of times as there was no one in line. Lots of cars went empty. But at 11, the park got packed and we took the boat back to the Poly.
Sunday night my Wife and two boys went back over to the Night Extra Magic Hours at the MK and they only rode 2 rides in 2 hours, they said it was extremely busy and decided to just return.
The only Negative was:
(And I don't count the turndown issue a negative)
We went to the Concourse Steakhouse at the Contemporary for Dinner one night. We were seated in the worst table at the entrance where people wait to be seated on one side of us, and on the other side of us is the line for Chef Mickeys. The server seemed forced to wait on us and never smiled. The appetizers were good, but the main meal was really bad. It was edible, just not very good and the flavors of the steak were very bland. The Short Rib was over cooked and had way too much BBQ sauce poured over it. The Server even came by and started clearing plates, and took my wifes plate without asking and she wasn't done. We did ask for a manager and one never came, so I asked the Desk for one, and they told me the Manger had a major issue in the kitchen and would be about 10 minutes. We just decided to leave and chalk it up to the price we had to pay to get the great room at the Poly. The next night we ate at Ohana, and they did seat us at the very first table at the entry, we immediatly spoke up and told the seater about our previous night, she got the manager of Ohana and they had us seated at a much better table in the main room with a great server.
Well, like I said in a previous message, I wanted to do updates throughout the stay, but forgot the laptop, so this message hopefully covered it all.
