Okay - surely there is ""something" you like about winter..

I totally love winter ... NOW!!! Why, because I am in sunny Southern California!!!! Moved here two years ago from Boston!!! Bring it on!!!

THIS!! Just change "sunny Southern California" to sunny Southern Arizona and "Boston" to Maine.

I do NOT miss those New England winters AT ALL!!! LOVE the Arizona winters!

I forgot two things..

Looking at the houses decorated for Christmas with a nice, clean layer of snow on the ground..

And someone mentioned "quiet" - which reminded me of when we get those heavy snowstorms that cling to all of the branches on the trees - it looks like a winter wonderland - folks are snowed in and it's soooooooo quiet!! :thumbsup2

------------------

I'm not a big fan of summer (mostly because of my health issues), but I have come to appreciate every season - regardless.. There's something good and beautiful there - you just have to look for it..:goodvibes

I could never live somewhere without my "four seasons".. :lovestruc

I worried about missing the change of seasons when we moved to Arizona, and it's still an adjustment in some ways. The biggest adjustment is getting rid of the mindset that winter is coming, so we must start preparing for the weather ahead. Things like winterizing the pool, bringing in outdoor furniture for the winter, putting the bicycles away, buying new show shovels to replace the dented ones from the year before, stocking up on salt and sand, and realizing that a lot of places (miniature golf, theme parks, outdoor dining, etc.) close for the winter.

Here none of that is necessary.:) I spent over fifty years living in a part of the country that has four seasons (some too short and others too long) and now I'm more than happy to live where it's hot for a few months, then gorgeous for about eight months.

I can't say I regret living in the Northeast for all those years. We raised our family there and had wonderful times in all kinds of weather. If we had truly hated it, we wouldn't have stayed in a place that had long, cold winters. However, the older we got, the less we enjoyed it. We always said we'd probably move to warmer climates when the kids were grown and out of school. And indeed we did! Now, we are loving living in a part of the country that has an abundance of warm temps and sunshine. :)

The ONLY good things about winter are Christmas and New year's

In SoCal, the natives go all out to decorate because they do not have to battle the elements to get their homes all decorated. It is amazing the Christmas spirit. :santa:

As far as winter wonderland, ITA, it is lovely after a new fallen snow but give it a few days and that lovely white snow becomes so nasty ugly and messy. :headache:

Unless you have lived in an area that does not have all 'four seasons' do not say never! There is absolutely no way I would go back to New England between November and March ... no way. I am so done with being cold. :cold:

My DS is back East in law school. He has been in SoCal for the past two years and he said the other morning it was 49 degrees  ... I said "IN SEPTEMBER" ... now thats just disturbing. :headache:

HIYA Monique!!! I just heard and we have "JAZZ AT THE BEACH" this weekend!!! I am so excited!!! It might be 100 (well actually it will be more like 80's at the beach) but NO HUMIDITY!!! :sunny:

I love winter. I would take a nice cold, snowy winter day over a hot and humid summer day anytime.

This combination:

Cold night
Friends and family
Cold beer
Hot oysters steamed over a fire
Plenty of hot sauce

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I still live in the NE, but this is how I feel. I hope that we'll be able to move to our Florida condo when we have retired.

I want to be able to go outside & enjoy the weather more than we do now. It's depressing to hibernate in a house for just about 7-8 months of the year.

I dare say Southern California is not the typical summer experience people are talking about here. ;) I'm from St. Louis, where summers are absolutely miserable, and I always looked forward to fall and winter. I'd get giddy with the first back to school ads on TV. When NFL training camps started, it was like, "OMG, the horror is almost over!" Now I'm in central FL, which is basically the same, heat-and-humidity-wise, but lasts about 3 months longer. :headache: Yes, it has gotten cooler, but the humidity's still through the roof. The tradeoffs are so worth it, though. :thumbsup2

I am envious of Southern CA's weather...was in LA in May and it was gorgeous. Loved being able to wear jeans at that time of year!

I have always liked winter. Fortunately, I don't suffer from SAD, so the days and days of gloomy weather (rain/snow, doesn't matter) were great. Of course, I'm still trying to get used to winters in the SE, so we'll see how I adapt.

I have only been here 2 years. One year up in the OC and now we have relocated to San Diego. Coming from the East coast for all my life ... this weather does still amaze me every single day. I drive around and think this is just heavenly. Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring.

I remember Winters back East and I would be at work and then the skies would open up and the snow would start and I would worry about getting home before the roads were so bad. The News would start cancelling everything. Finally, I would get out of work and spend time warming up my car and scrapping all the snow and ice off it so I could get on my way. :sad2:
