Hey guys I’m looking for the kids that have been deprived of a Disney visit for the longest time.

A lot of us visit Disney once a month or twice a year, why some lucky souls go every other day… hee hee.

But some kids out there only get to go like once a year if that... I assume if they were like me they must drive the family nuts.

So I got curious and was wondering who out there has kids that have been deprived of a Disney trip for the longest time? And how are they handling it?

Let me know how long its been since thier last visit, or if there is one out there that has not made it to WDW as of yet.

We were at WDW in November, and it was the first trip for my four year old. We will be back this Christmas.

One positive thing that has come out of Rachel's illness is that we now vacation. We never used to vacation before, much less to Disney, but now it seems like forever for them to wait until December!!

So whenever my kids complain about not having something, I always tell them how lucky they are to have gone to DisneyWorld because some kids don't get to go at all. The first time I said that, the two younger ones gasped because they could hardly imagine such a horrible thing!!

Well, while I am feeling way more deprived than any of my family,
none of us have been since December 2000 and I am telling you that is wayyyyyy to long!. However, the dd does think that is the next trip we should take no matter how I try to convince them. To add to the sob story (please note I already admit to being a member of the whiners club) that is one of the last vacations we had. So, oh great pinboy, is there a pat on the head for the longest?

I am kid at heart, so I think I should vote for me. We went in 1985 on our honeymoon then not again until 1997!!!!!!! Were we nuts?
Then we went twice in 2000, once in 2002, and 2003.....well once so far, but then when I move there.....WOOHOO!!!!!!!

Can I post for my Mom?????

See, she's the only one in my family that hasn't been to WDW at all... nope, not ever !!!

While as a family, the 5 of us (Mom, Dad, B, S & I) did go to DL for one day of a 5-week southwest US vacation back in 1969 (I was 8, you do the math! ;) ) when DL was still using the ticket system, which drove my Dad absolutely nuts... my B was the first to ever go to WDW (in 1974, for his highschool graduation trip or something like that... and yes, all I got from him was a t-shirt.... but it was a cool Mickey one, so that's ok). My Dad, then, in 1981 and sans my Mom, helped drive and chaperone the local highschool marching band on the one trip they made to WDW right before Christmas to march in the parade. (Of course, by that time, I was out of high school... bummer!) :( My sister got to go to WDW finally with her family (H & S & D in tow) when they went in the mid-90s and camped at FW over one Christmas... Me, well, Brian and I had hoped to go to WDW on our honeymoon back in 1991, but that didn't happen. We finally made it down for our first visit in June of 2001 (I was 40, Brian was 38, Bonnie was 5 and a half, and Kellie was 3 and a half at the time) and we've been back 3 times since, so I don't feel deprived (yet! Although it's getting close, since it's been over 6 months now!) :teeth:

But my Mom... she's never been. For the past 2 years, since we made our first trip, I've been dying to get her down to WDW. For several reasons - so she can experience all the magic, of course, but also so she can see her grandkids having such a great time (there's nothing like experiencing the magic of WDW through the eyes of a child, is there?) The major problem now, though, is that my Dad is no longer in very good health; he's had lots of various problems throughout the years, mostly associated with knee and back problems (both of his knees have been replaced, one for a second time, and his spine has compressed and twisted severely, etc.) Well, if that wasn't bad enough, this past year he's been having a series of TIAs (I guess they're evidently slight strokes... Donna - maybe you or any of the other nurses on this board can confirm or deny? ;) )

My Mom turns 70 this year on December 8th... on the same day that our Bonnie turns 8 (yes, I do know how to suck up to my Mom ;) ) and I'd practically give anything to get my Mom & Dad down to WDW and have them experience her birthday right there, smack dab in the middle of Main Street USA, on that day. But, I don't think it's going to happen, unless there's a major miracle. I've told my Mom that I'd love for this to happen, but she just doesn't think my Dad's up to the trip (they live just outside of Elkhart, in northern Indiana). :( :( :( :(

While I do realize that the chances of getting my folks to WDW together this coming December are slim to none, I haven't given up hope (or faith, or trust, or belief in Pixie Dust!) ;) I just really wish there was a way I could pull this off, but it all depends on my Dad's physical condition (my Mom would never go that far away without him, not while he's still living at home, for sure... and besides, I really want them to experience it together, y'know?)

Okay, sorry... I hope I didn't depress everybody... I just love WDW so very, very much, and really want to share all of the magic we've found with both of my parents... wish there was a crying smiley... :(

Send lots of Pixie Dust their way... hey, it can't hurt! ;)

Our last visit was at the end of October 2001 for my DS's 5th birthday. The kids both know that the next trip to WDW is already scheduled for February 2004 for my DD's 5th birthday, however, I think they will probably drive me nuts before then. Just the other day my son came home with a "wish sentence" he had written in kindergarten. It took me a while to decipher it since they teach "developmental spelling" in his school, but when I finally figured it out it said "I wish I went to Walt Disney World." I think the subject comes up in conversation with the kids at least once a week. The funny thing is that they are hardly deprived -- the last visit was their third trip to the World. On the plus side, my son is now learning a little about money, so whenever he asks for another toy, etc., we point out how much money we could save for WDW if we didn't buy the new toy -- it works almost every time....

Okay so I'm a kid at heart but it took me 16 LONG years to get back to the world form my last(3rd visit) when it was only Magic Kingdom and Epcot. I've now been twice in the last two years and will be making it 3 this christmas.

OK, what about all those poor children who are forced to go with their disney crazed parents over and over again! Time to let their little voices be heard!!
HBC:eek:

Thanks Raul for bringing up such a painful subject. Can you also send me some lemon juice to pour on the paper cut I just got? For the past 3 years, Trina and I have made WDW an annual trek. In fact, we have gone so much that we both have annual passes. This fact is not lost on our 5 kids. They have gotten to go to WDW once in their entire lives and that was nearly 12 years ago. At that time we had 3 kids and one of them was just under 2 so all that she can remember was Donald Duck bending down to kiss her head. Of course she thought Donald was trying to eat her head and she freaked screaming at the top of her lungs (which reminds me, I need to make a therapy appointment for her). Each year as Trina and I get ready to go to WDW, we are reminded that THEY have to stay home. Each year we promise that next year we will take the family but somehow that never happens. I try to explain it to them, if they went that would blow the pin budget. By me going and them staying home, I can bring more pins back that we can all enjoy and trade. So far they are not buying it but I keep trying...

Jeff
