Okay...dh said he would get dd dinner from Wendy's, so I can re-do the numbers.

Here's the "adjusted" re-tallying of numbers from the second tally using 552 as the SSR number instead of 828.

Here's another update:

Total votes: 41

Here's the results:

1) BCV with 134 points (21.79% of available points)
2) OKW with 129 points (20.98% of available points)
3) BWV with 124.5 points (20.24% of available points)
4) SSR with 117 points (19.02% of available points)
5) VWL with 108.5 points (17.64% of available points)

Now, if we look at the percentage of people listing each resort as their first choice:

1) BCV - 11 people (26.83%) for a resort that is 11.49% of the available rooms
2) OKW -10 people (24.39%) for a resort that is 29.33% of the available rooms
3) SSR - 10 people (24.39%) for a resort that is 30.5% of the available rooms
4) BWV - 7 people (17.07%) for a resort that is 21.16% of the available rooms
5) VWL - 4 people (9.76%) for a resort that is 7.51% of the available rooms


I will keep tallying as long as people post. I'll do it once more before I go to bed.

Actually, DVC won't close on any villa not yet completed. (That was the reason for the staggered reservations once SSR did open.) At this point there are 552 units open - but not all have been declared into inventory and most definitely not all have been sold. The maximum currently available for SSR is 840 units, but unless you include the max at all resorts, you shouldn't use that figure- although it certainly does play a role in the occupancy at each resort.

As I said earlier, I doubt that SSR is much more than 20% of the total current membership for onsite resorts at this moment. You'll need to decide what numbers you want to make up and use to get any conclusions for this poll. The sold out resorts are a bit easier, since we know that the resorts are sold out except for the 2-4% held by DVC and even that figure will affect the number of rooms in the system. 4% of the 531 villas at OKW is a much larger number of villas than 2% at VWL- thus affecting your assumptions even more. Unless you know the specific % still owned by DVC at each resort, the numbers will create significant variance in the outcome you report. I'd expect that OKW still has the greatest number of owners by % for the onsite resorts and BWV may still be second- even above SSR.

These polls are tough enough to do without incorporating unknowns and variables into the equation and still come up with any meaningful conclusions.

beca I know you are going to ALOT of work, but I don't really think the #'s you are posting agree with the threads i read here.

The threads i read are saying that people are wait listing and asking if they can get into bwv and bcv at 7 mths. I have yet to see a single post saying they are "hoping" they are able to somehow get into SSR.

Yet your numbers show (based on what people posted in your thread), that SSR is quite popular and people are booking stays there at the same rate they are other resorts.

I know your numbers are based upon the replies to your poll, but I don't think you have gotten answeres to your poll that reflect what is actualy happening at the resorts.

Pick up the phone monday and try to book a week in a a room for 7 days in July. I think you will find results that don't match the numbers you are being told.

SSR owners "love" SSR, but for what ever reason seem to be staying else where, atleast if you read the current threads on the board.

It looks as though VWL is bringing up the rear. I've always suspected that while it may not be popular to the masses, those of us who like it have a passion for it stronger than other folks number 1 choices.

One reason people can get SSR without any waitlist involved is because it's still in a sales mode. They always declare inventory into DVC BEFORE it's sold. (As long as sales don't outpace construction. In the case of SSR, construction caught up with sales probably last summer.) So until it's sold out, there will always be more inventory than owners.
This has happened with all new resorts in the past. It has always been easy to get into a new resort while it was still selling!

B3 and Doc...once again, you both make excellent points. The problem is:

1) I don't know how to make the poll any more accurate (if someone has any ideas, please post and I will try to do it)

2) There could be even more "unseen" permutations. The poll should probably take into account who owns at what resort.

As far as where SSR owners are actually booking, your experiences definitely mirror my own. I don't know who is booking where, all I know is that I could not get into BCV without owning there...not even once. I'm not saying it is SSR owners...heck, I got on the waitlist for a night at 9 1/2 months out...that is definitely BCV owners!!! But, I agree....when I waitlisted at BCV, I could get VWL, OKW, or SSR without waiting.

There is no way to know "definitively", but I thought it would be interesting to get people's perceptions.

So, I caveat the poll with this. If you think my SSR numbers are really off...please just ignore my percentages. The number of points, and rankings will still be accurate as far as this board is concerned.
