Driving back to Orlando tomorrow...have to pick up my parking permit for this upcoming semester and buy my overpriced book stops..oops I mean text books! All you students or former students know what I mean!!! Two of my friends are coming along with me, one is down for the holidays from grad school in Maryland, so after getting the "school" stuff out of the way, we will probably bum around Orlando for the afternoon...see what kind of trouble we can get into

You guys -- maybe you could rethink your whole approach to Match.com. This is part of my resolution, to change my dating mindset. I'm going to keep my mind open to what these people could potentially bring to my life. Even if the person may not be a good match for dating, they might make a good friend, or better yet introduce you to a more eligible friend. It's all about connections!

I have a Match.com success story that has nothing to do with snagging a boyfriend. I met a vet on Match.com when I first moved to St Pete. We met, and it was definitely not a match. But, that was 2 years ago, and we still IM almost every day. (He lives in AZ now.) The real kicker is that he recommended me for someone he knew who was looking for a relief vet, when I was out of work. When that job was over, that vet recommended me for my current job. I would never have known about either job if not for Match.com. And the job I have now is SO much better than the one I originally had in St Pete. So, you never know what good things people will bring into your life.

I think I'm going to re-sign up this month. I was supposed to have some sort of a date tonight, but I haven't heard from him. So, I had better start looking on my own.

Wow, Jen! That's true I guess. I'll have to think about that. With this match.com guy, I did tell him that I wanted to start as friends as maybe see if things change down the road. Well, he lives over 100 miles away...further than I'm willing to drive!! He's in the Army Reserves...which is a plus in my book. I had told him that I missed hearing my Dad's Air Force stories (since my Dad is gone...sniff, sniff.) He said he had a "great" story that I would like. Okay...he had told me that he was in Germany a couple years. I expected something Germany. Instead I got something a little on the gorey side. Not too sure about this one!!

My approach to match (which worked!) was to let they guys come to you. The man I am dating never even created a profile on match. There are definitely more guys out there than just what is posted.

That's a thought, TigerBear. I have the feeling that there are LOTS of decent people browsing those sites, but only the brave or crazy actually post. Do you have a photo on your profile? I just can't bring myself to do that. I'd be mortified that one of my clients or someone else I know would recognize me. Unfortunately, that's your best bet for snatching someone, or everyone will assume you're homely.

PW -- you guys previously mentioned a thread on the Adults/Solos board. There is one for child-free Disney fans, but there is a separate one for just plain old solo travelers. There are LOTS of posts over there, and lots of people looking to meet up at WDW. You should check it out.

The man I am dating is a physician and I think that is partly why he never created a profile. I did post a couple pics of me in my profile - I must be brave!

I was wondering which way is better. I thought I would have more control and weed out the less desirable ones by looking at the guys' photos and profiles rather than putting my photo and profile out there and not know what wacko is choosing me.

Plus you can all get videotaped for the DIS Meets video

I sell it on eBay. Quite suprisingly, there is a market for it. Golly, people ask me if I have all sorts of weird stuff when I post on eBay. My rule: if it ain't on eBay, I ain't got it!

But anyway, I'm just kidding. They do go to the DIS Meets video. I can even send you a sample if you feel weird.

BTW, Florida Coaster Club members never feel weird around my camera. In fact, they love to be videotaped! You must be thinking, "Have they been smoking bannanas?" and the answer is yes!
