Don't know whether it's this thread that's caused it but this week has been a GREAT week, not cos of a man, but cos I've felt so happy about myself and my life. I reckon it's cos I've been on here and seen hey, I'm not the only one, there's a whole load of us out there (both over here and over in the US) so, it's not just me!

So, here's a big hug to you all wizzing it's way over the Ocean and a big thanks guys for making me feel great!! :wave2:
Thanks for the hug! And it's really nice to know we're not alone. Nope, it's not just you. ;)

I'll never find my "mr. right" according to my friends.

He has to tolerate country music and possibly learn to line dance, non smoker, be single, able to tolerate my Disney maddness, if we were to get married, I would keep my last name (no discussion there!), and be willing to sign a pre nup agreement.

They say I expect too much!

AND, my daughter comes first.

I have issues huh?
Stick by your standards! You'll find someone.

I have issues huh?

Nah...you just know what you want. They're just jealous because you have higher standards :)

But seriously, I've been dating since my divorce and I've come to realize that things I would have put up with prior to my marriage I won't put up with now. My non-negotiable list is bigger now but I don't think that's a bad thing.

I've meet some nice guys and I've met some real jerks...just like I did many years ago during my first round of dating. Back then, I was far more willing to stick it out with someone who didn't feel right because "you never know". Now I don't. I am more honest with myself and, as a result, more honest with the men I date.

I don't know that I'll ever marry again...I don't see the need for it. I'm not having any more children, I have my own house, I have a great career and make a great living on which I can support my little family. I do miss having someone special in my life but I don't necessarily think I need to be married to have that.

And I'm coming to realize that I'm a pretty terrific person with a lot to offer...something I wouldn't have been so appreciative of were I still part of a pair. So to all you single DISers...revel in your terrificness...we ROCK!!!!!

That's true. I used to hang around also. Now, if it's not working for me, just end it. Life's too short to compromise on issues within yourself. And after having those relationships, I understand myself better and very much a different person. I used to be very quiet and kept things to myself. Now I find I tell people what I want or need! :) And I've learned to trust my gut instinct!

I'm right there with you ebaynut31!! There are some ground rules I have:
1) he must be single
2) he must be straight
3) he must have a job (full time not talking Mickie D's...no offense to those who work there!!)
4) must not be attached to mommy's appron strings and let her control his life (been there done that!)
5) must enjoy Disney as much as I do
6) must not be a serial killer

Now those are the basics when we get past that then I look to more important issues like accepting my son as a member of the family, I would hypenate my name since my son has the same name as me, and he must be an overall good person!

So if you think you have issues...then I must have a disease that can't be cured!
tara

Like nearly everyone else here I think I also have some good qualities: a good job (Department of Justice), I own a townhouse, have great credit, am a Mom to three cats - basically I live a pretty normal life. I just can't find him.

I am so glad that this thread was started. I was truly starting to think I was the only one who didn't have an SO. Nice to know we're all in this together. Too bad we all can't get together and go out for pizza and beer!!

Hey, those are my basics that go without saying. ;) I can check off most of that list the first five minutes. My other items require more time. Wish I were in Virginia Beach right now! I'm getting really bored with FL.

Dept. of Justice! Ooooooooooooooooooooooo...I'd like to work there! But in DC. It sure isn't easy finding him. No, you're not alone in this. Pizza and beer? Sounds GREAT...count me in for one beer and once slice...cutting back...guys are so visual! ;) Trying to drop a few pounds.

Hmmm, pizza and beer - sounds great Katelynns Auntie - count me in!! I'll have a couple of slices please, am sitting here on my own (well, apart from the dog!) on a Friday night! :)

isyne4u - Love your list (especially no. 6!), mine has a number 7, preferably he has to have a kid/kids, the ones I've met who haven't have absolutely no idea and I'm sticking with my two, no more little 'uns for me I'm afraid!! :teeth:

Cheers everyone! :Pinkbounc

Astrid x

Count me in on the pizza-lots of cheese for me please!! I will pass on the beer though, never got a taste for it, give me a fruity girl drink anyday!! princess:

Astrid got me thinking: what are we all doing tonight? Friday, the quintessential "date-night" of those who are actually involved.

I have plans to meet a friend of mine at about 5:45pm. I assume we will have dinner and rent a movie (maybe there will be a cute cashier at Blockbuster ;) ), and do girly stuff like talk about our hair and nails! The best part is though that while sitting around watching the movie we can have our hair pulled up, no make-up and be lounging around in PJs eating food items that probably contain more calories and fat than I ate throughout the entire rest of the week!!! :teeth:

So tell us, what are you doing tonight??

Edit to add: I just realized that this is my 2000 post!! :cool1:

Every Friday night I have a standing date...one I look forward to all week. With my DD :)

We either order in or go out to dinner and then we do something fun. Sometimes we go mini golfing or to the mall to do some window shopping or we head home to watch a movie or we do manis/pedis to get us ready for the weekend.

She's my Friday night date...and I am sooooo lucky! :)

Just got back from horse riding lesson and looking ahead to my karate lesson.

I'd rather be having the pizza and beer with all of you!! :sunny:

And then my famous dessert: Ghiradelli fudge brownies with ice cream, Mrs. Richards Hot Fudge and chocolate chip cookie dough liqueur. MMmmmmm......:earseek:

okay I vote we skip the pizza and beer...and go straight to Vicki's for dessert!

I vote that after our pizza and beer, and after Vicki has finished her karate lesson, we head to her place for her fabulous dessert! She'll have to roll us out the door at the end of the night!

I'm all for dessert!!!

This Friday night, like most for me, were spent at my second job. Gives grandma and my son a chance to hang out and play. They enjoy that time. Now tomorrow morning we are having breakfast, just the two of us, at Golden Corral. This is one of our weekend rituals (not every weekend but about 2 a month).

Now, I'm home and dising for a bit before I hit the hay!!

Like another poster said, it's nice to find that I'm not the only single person out there!!

Gee!! I'm flattered!! I didn't think my dessert idea would be such a big hit! Well, we'll be in the FW Cabins 11/29 - 12/6....I see a slumber party/brownie night thing going on!!

I'd see it sooner if you all lived closer. :(

Well you'll most probably still be asleep while I'm typing this but hope you all enjoyed your Friday night (hmmmm, house of princess just lurve your dessert - yummy!!). I watched LOTR for the umpteenth time and had an early night.

What you all up to tonight then - anything exciting?

I'm going out with a girlfriend for a drink and then a trip into town to see if Mr Elusive is lurking about somewhere!! ;)

Enjoy your Saturday all my new found friends. :wave2:

Astrid xx
