Okay...I've called the Late Night DISers, now I'm calling the SINGLE DISers!

Hello everyone, thought I'd pop in here a bit. So far everything is falling into place here in Orlando, getting around is always a challenge compared to back home where we have only "one" highway that runs north of my little town of Wasilla on up past Fairbanks, hard to get lost in Alaska actually, but here in Florida I have to be on my toes as the rental home is way south in Kissimmee just off of Poinciana. But I am finding the route out for our daily trips to Universal, my son absolutely loved Jimmy Neutron, and he was terrified of Twister, he is almost 10 but is still a baby LOL. Sunday I tricked him into riding Dr. Doom at IOA, (heh heh heh) I never realized what a little wimp he is, so much for chance breeding... Its a bummer I only had just one kid in my life, hopefully some day before I get ALL gray hairs another will come around, good woman are hard to find especially the ones that can put up with an italian/german/irish as myself, plus I'm a perfectionist. So much I did late in life hopping around the country never settling down, oh well.
Anyhow its tuesday (I think) and its about 5 am local time, my internal clock has adjusted as I always get up at 3am without an alarm clock and I'm ready to start my day, gonna run back over to that mega Walmart on 535 and get more kitchen and house stuff, I keep forgetting that both of us are 2 hour snackers, we eat and put the leftovers in fridge and come back another hour or two later to finish it off, last night was pizza.

But anyway just in case anybody is interested and I know a lot of folks have "been there and done that" that Universal is a really neat park, both of them, I'm gonna have to slip out some evening soon and spend some time to myself, perhaps over at Pleasure Island at WDW, course I'm a loner and have always been that way sometimes I need to see if there is a world out there. Back at home I am always on my own at work by myself in the dead of winter, at night (cause its ALWAYS NIGHT IN WINTER) checking up on the status of the plant, the equipment and doing repairs before the next season starts, I do more work in 4 hours by myself than two guys in a day.

So this is just a kinda trip report thingie and a musing, Joey wants to stay at home and play his XBOX and PS2, me I cant just stop, even on vacation I'm wired ready to rally troops, organized the offensive maneuvers etc. (my job literally is like that!) I'd make a pretty fair drill sargent I think:p

And again we missed the last show of Sinbad at IOA, I'm just gonna have to park his but in that area and tell him we are going HERE, he is such a whiner. When I was his age I was working in my dads junkyard cutting up scrap car bodies for money, kids are too soft nowadays, and woman are too cynical (other places than Alaska), in Alaska they are more dependant and definately equal or superior to a lot of guys, it changes peoples outlook, makes them more real and aware of their capabilities. You have to be a fighter and a survivor to live up there, anybody can live in a city, its keeping a house from freezing in -50 temps, keeping the vehicles in prime condition, and keeping yourself mentally and physically strong.

uhh sorry about the soapboxing....later folks!:D

Glad you're having a good time. You're up early, I haven't slept. Life in Alaska has to be tough. The warmer weather must be a treat!

Actually and in all reality I can acclimate, I used to work in Vegas in the summer, was an oilfield mechanic in Texas, worked at over 9,000' in the Sierras and lastly in Alaska in Arctic conditions. I have learned its easier to work cold conditions than hot, if I maintain my calorie and carbs right I have the neccesary fuel to work in the winter, OTOH heat wears me down considerably. My perfect temps are mid 60's anytime over 80 tires me out, BUT thats because I just came from Alaska, gonna have my butt parked here in Orlando for 28 days, thankfully its winter here and forecast temps are in the low 70's right now, that may mean less water park fun but its a tradeoff.

Mr. D- definitely stay away from here in the summer. It's brutal in Orlando. I refuse to do theme parks in the summer. It's the most crowded time and too hot. If I go, it is only to a water park.
Universal is a fun park. I've never been to IoA.

I haven't slept all night. Haven't even gotten changed! A sleepless night in front of the computer. It stinks that I haven't heard from him in 6 days...now 7 I guess. Love stinks!! I think I'll go cry now.
You haven't slept because of lack of call from heart throb or the thought of going back to school today?
Oh, PW you are in call (or email) waiting hell right now and I know it stinks:(

Why aren't you excited about the job interview? It sounds like it came at just the right time.
I am excited about the interview although Disney845 is making me have second thoughts. Ha Ha.
It's just that I'll probably have to take a MINIMUM $6/hr pay cut.
We haven't discussed salary but that's the kind of hit I'd take working at hospital in Melbourne. This is a free standing, physician owned center. And you know how well doctors' offices pay!

As for your desire to move to Melb....what is wrong with you woman!!!! Anyone in their right mind would be looking to move away from this area!!! Good luck with the interview at any rate.
Ha Ha. I got a chuckle from that.
I did get away from Melbourne........for 23 years!
But my heart just isn't in this area anymore or my house or my job. Just like PW. I moved to this area to be with my husband-to-be. Got married here, had a baby here. Lots of memories here. I've been divorced going on 4 yrs. I feel ready for a change. It would be great to live close to my mom and sister. My sister has 2 kids, one a year younger than dd and one a year older. My dd loves to be with her cousins. I thought it would be great for her to be closer to them since she is an only child.
The area where I live now is booming. Lots of stores and developments going up. Getting crowded and prices are going up and up. I now pay $1800/yr insurance on my house:( It was $200/yr before Hurricane Andrew!
My heart is saying "Go!" My head and logic is saying "Stay, you have a great job, dd is in good school, dd is near her dad, etc., etc. Why throw your life into turmoil?"

Classes start today. How in the world am I going to concentrate? :(

ACK! What are you doing, woman!? Hopefully you will make it through classes and come home and take a nap. At least the first day is usually pretty tame.

Do you have AIM? We could exchange screen names, and I could yell at you to go to bed! :p

Mr D should be pretty happy. It seems a cold front just came through. Of course that means the rain might ruin a few plans, but brrrrr I'm sure he'll like the chill in the air.

Legs -- I can see wanting to move back where family is. I wish my family didn't live in such a depressed area. I don't even have kids, but it would be nice to have someone available to take care of the dogs when needed. I can't imagine having a child far from any family help. $6 an hour is a big pay cut, but will you save enough in housing costs and babysitting fees? I missed how old your kid is. And if house prices are skyrocketing -- you might have a gold mine there, owning a house already. Have you looked into renting it out if you move? You won't strike it rich off of the rental money (though surely you would make some), but it might be worth it to hold onto it for a few more years and just watch its value soar. I'm renting a house now and I feel like the longer I wait to buy, the worse off I'm going to be.

I'm thinking about going MIA for a while. I've found myself more annoyed by the DIS than I am enjoying it, which means it's time to make a break. If I can find a way to direct myself directly to this thread and skipping seeing all the topics that drive me nuts, I might try that. Otherwise, I might pull a TigerBear. Where is she?

Doc- when you get on the Dis go immediately to the user cp. You will be subscribed to this thread since you have posted on it. You should unsubscribe to all other threads (so you won't have to see them anymore), and then it will just keep this one in your user cp. That way everytime you come on you just go to user cp, and in your subscribed thread section click on the little grey box with the down yellow arrow in front of the thread name, and it will take you to the first new post since the last time you viewed the thread!

I'm here! :wave2: I have missed you guys. I went to Fort Worth this weekend to visit a friend and last night I was with my guy. This going back to work sucks. Working for a school district, I absolutely love the time off but going back after a break is so incredibly hard.

Oh well, now I don't have to go on another date until February. :teeth: [/B]

This is too funny! Sorry things didn't work out with the baby, even though I can't say I'm all that surprised. I think you should give the Disney guy a shot too. If you gave the 21 year old a chance, the Disney guy definitely deserves a shot. Are you still considering match? I would be happy to help you with your profile if you would like.

k.

Oh, they think. Now what they think with, that is an entirely different topic. :p
(Present company excepted, of course, guys! ;)

TigerBear...glad to see you back, hope your trip was nice.

Day 2 of school, and there is a hottie in my class!!! ;) And he is nice too, we chatted as we were leaving class and walking to the parking lot! And since I am the little detective I am :magnify:.....I took it upon myself to look him up in our school's online class directory, and it happened to give his email, which just happened to be an aol account, which just happens to list his marital status in his profile. He is currently unattached. :smooth:

PW, to you! That waiting is the worst! Try and distract yourself with other thoughts. Like, Orlando Bloom on Pirates. Be still my beating heart! :faint: :bitelip: I don't usually dwell on actors, but him I could dwell on for a while!!

How did everyone's first days back to reality life go? Mine are in full swing. Did I mention earlier that the boat I thought I sold to Bil, is now back in my possesssion? He's rather over extended. So, we could all go :boat: :boat: :boat: , sail away to Margaritaville, or something. :sunny:

Had a long chat w/ karate instructor today. About nothing in particular. Wish I had the nerve to ask him to a movie. But, as someone said, then if things get awkward, they'll get even more awkward when I have to see him at class. Don't want to date him in the today definition of date. Just have someone to see a movie with.

Doc, have you ever heard, "leave no man left behind!" Well, should you go MIA, we might just have to hunt you down!! :p Don't stray from here because of something going on somewhere else!

I thought the community board had been rather boring lately. Except for the man who thinks he can't trust his wife because she rang up $15,000 in debt over 3 years. I have my own thoughts on that, but boy, there were some doozies flying on this one!

Man you guys got it rough being single and all, I sympasize(sp?)

well today was a sorta rest and recuperate day, yes it turned cooler, this morning about 9am I was lying on the pool lounge asleep, must have been around 65 or so. Thats almost what I keep my house heated at when its extremely cold say like -20 or more (it was -21 last night I heard). My poor lovable tomcat is going all around the house looking for me I've also been told by the house sitter.

Went to Old Towne, rode the G-Force with son, wow that was an expensive ride! But it was worth it, he loved it. Went looking at some of the shops. I guess the place livens up on weekends? It was like less than 20 people were there, weird. Any of you guys or girls been to the Adventurers Club at Pleasure Island? I'm looking for a decent clean fun place to go for an adult this weekend or maybe tomorrow night, it is a full moon.

And what do men think?

>Suck in the tummy she's looking.....
>man those are huge!, she's gonna see me starin I know....
>Doggone I know my nose hairs are showin'....
>no way in he// she is gonna be interested in a middle aged guy like me.....
>why is such a good looking chick interested in me, hmmmm, must be a hooker....
>I think I'll just drink instead of playing Alpha male tonight.....
>she doesn't know what she's missing....
>oh well at least I got the latest action DVD movie to watch tonight, and then the puter....

those might be my thoughts:p

Hey, Mr D--
I've been to the Adventurer's club and to the place at PI that does improv. Enjoyed both. Probably even more fun--and good people watching--on a weekend.

Oh, it was because of lack of communication from him. Call/e-mail hell? You've got that right, Legs!! I went to my two classes this morning. Best thing I could have done. Got my mind off it for a while. Then when I got home I had four e-mails from him! :teeth: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Of course, I had to get all freaked out about not hearing from him first. :( So far, so good.
