Okay...I've called the Late Night DISers, now I'm calling the SINGLE DISers!

Glad you made it safe and sound to this side of the world Mr. D. It must be much warmer here then in Alaska right now!

Watched that wonderful football game last night. What an exciting ending! Next week shall be interesting in Phillie.

Made lunch and dinner from scratch yesterday and it tasted so good and was so much fun. Sandy, usually I don't have time to cook, but my goal is to find time for things that I use to love to do. Like cook, garden, read. Hopefully it'll all work out.

USed my gift card from Best Buy yesterday to buy the 5th season of Sex and the City. Guess what I watched all last night. I didn't think that the 5th was as good as the previous 4. Was kind of depreassing at times. Oh, well, I'll be buying season 6 when it comes out b/c I'm hooked and don't have HBO. Need to get DD off to school. Today is my last day of vacation and then back with my kids tomorrow! AGH! I need another week!

I'm with you, Suzanne. I could use another week. DS and I both go back tomorrow, so I'm not lucky enough to have today to myself.

Well, dd is back to school today (their new school opened late so this is a make up day) and I am back to a full week of work:(

Welcome back Suzanne. Glad you had a great cruise! Personally I found that there weren't any single men on the Magic. Only married men that wish they were single. I think I would have to go with a different cruise line to meet single men. I guess I was lucky- dd never paged me when in the kid's club.
You shouldn't have any trouble finding dates because you love sports so much. Me- I could care less about sports. Although I did watch the Marlins in the Series.
I have the 1st new episode of Sex on a tape right here. My co-worker has HBO and tapes it for me.
What exactly did you make that was so delicious?

Mr. D- Glad you're enjoying FL. I've been to Tahoe for snow skiing. Beautiful place! I would like to go on an Alaskan cruise now more than a cruise in the Carribean. I'm a little tired of that area.

PW- What cell provider do you have?
I am not going to school tomorrow. I put off finding out what I want to be when I grow up. Then it got to be Dec. and I'm sure the cut off date for enrolling was past. But before I enroll and start school I need to find out what I want to be because school is very expensive and time consuming.

Disney845- What are you studying to be?
When is 2nd date?

HoP- Finished Lord of the Rings movie and enjoyed it and 1/3 of the way through Potter and enjoying that also.

Doc- How was the party? Any single men? Did our vibes work?

Have a good week all!

Mr. D, glad you arrived safely. Just wondering if it's the refrigeration that has preserved you so well, instead of the treadmill?! ;) Have a wonderful time there with your son. BTW, how is it he can take this much time from school? Do they take long winter breaks?

CoasterAddict.....nice tie in for our electric unit! Actually, we have multiple ages in the house (and I picked random subjects that were easy to spell! ;) ) And I'd rather be drinking the kahlua than writing up math problems like I am right now!

Here's hoping this back to reality week goes smoothly for everyone! (Oh, except for Mr D who's in Orlando now. No reality for him!)

I don't want to go back to reality though! That's why I'm going to give my kids something easy for me, but challenging for them to transition us both back into class! Will someone please grade my papers for me please!

I do have some bright happy news, at least for me. Had to go to the DMV as my tags for my car expired while I was gone. Dreaded going there b/c it's always busy, it's MOnday today and the beginning of the month. I think it took me a whole five minutes. That included me waiting. It was too painless. I was happy!

I bought a new computer desk yesterday at Office Depot. Two guys put it in the car for me. Well I got it home and couldn't get the box out of the trunk it was so unbelievably heavy. So I opened the box and started taking it out piece by piece until I couldn't reach any more pieces (it was a long, narrow box). So then I got the box out of the trunk, still heavy but not so bad and almost dropped it on my foot but instead it partially landed on the styrofoam packing I had pulled out earlier. Then I dragged the box inside and was exhausted. Now I have pieces of this desk all over the house and I have to figure out how to put it all together:crazy:

How stupid of me!! Here I thought that by changing the calendar hanging on the wall, I'd be done with all this icky stuff. Well, my aunt is in the hospital. She had a heart attack and has pneumonia.

Then, (not as bad, but depressing) my karate instructor just called. He's cancelling our Tuesday morning Mom's class. I understand his reasoning, but it doesn't make me feel any better.

Excuse me, I'm just going to go have me a good cry now.

Legs, I'm good at putting things together...wish I could help. It'd get my mind off my own junk.

Happy new year everyone!!!!!!!!
I feel so lost.... I have not been online since 12/24/03..... We had shut down from the 24th till today..... My computer at home is soooooo messed up and at the computer doctor right now so I had to wait till I got back to work to get back to all my friends at the DIS. Can you tell I am being very productive today.
I have missed all you guys......

Good morning, all!:teeth:

Isn't it yucky getting back to work after a holiday? I only had a couple of days off for the holidays and was back to work right away, so I didn't really have to go through the same thing. But, having the clinic closed for only a day and a half was quite a relief -- it's the only time of the year we have to ship off hospitalized patients. It's like cleaning house -- a lot of weight off our backs.

But, I am in the middle of my 3-day weekend, which I haven't gotten in a while, so I'm almost in vacation mode.

Legs -- I never really said much about the party, did I? Well, there were no single men to speak of. I should have brought boytoy. But, DANG, my friend's boyfriend is a hottie! And they found her on Match.com, too! (Did I mention this already?) It was another case of man browsing and finding woman. (Where IS TigerBear, anyway?) I tell ya, I would snatch this guy up in a second. Too bad I didn't let him find me first. ;)

I'm gonna ask for opinions on something here. My friend set up this couple who went on their 2nd date to the party. At the end of the party, he broke it off with her because she was too dull (MAN, she really was). Anyway, it's not like I had my eye on this guy. He's a redhead and not my type in other ways, but I didn't get a chance to talk to him. So, my friend calls me yesterday and mentions maybe she could set me up with him. At first I'm like, 'no, he's not my type.' Then I remember my resolution to kamikaze date (or have I not mentioned that before?) and to have a more open mind about these things.

... blah, blah, blah... she tells me he did the College Program eons ago (around the same time I did) and then transplanted himself down here from Boston. Now he works for Disney in the film department. So I'm thinking, well hey... apparently we DO have something in common.

THEN I start thinking about how my cousin (works in film production) was saying his boss' company is about to go under and that he needs to find a job. So I'm thinking this would be a good connection to make (and remember what I said about keeping my mind open about potential dates because they can bring more to your life than just a romantic relationship). And, besides, I didn't talk to him, so I don't know for sure that it would go nowhere.

So, the question is... do you think it would be "wrong" to date this person for this reason? Is this "using"?

This post is way too long already. I'll stop here.

Well, that is, after saying...

LLLLLLSSSSSSSSSSUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I get to proudly wear my purple and gold to north american conference (vet) in a couple of weeks! Yea!

But, DANG, my friend's boyfriend is a hottie! And they found her on Match.com, too! (Did I mention this already?) It was another case of man browsing and finding woman. (Where IS TigerBear, anyway?) I tell ya, I would snatch this guy up in a second.

I'm really feeling inspired now. :D
But I would like to move to Melbourne where I grew up and where my mom and sister still live. Closer to Disney too! So, there's nothing keeping me here now (except a well paying job with good hours and dd's father:( )
So, I don't want to start anything here.

My XH is a redhead:rolleyes:, but we made a beautiful strawberry-blonde haired little girl.
I would go out with anyone even if I think they're not my type. As long as they don't repulse me in any way. I want to try them all out! Ha, NOT in the way you're thinking.:teeth:
If the main reason you go out with him is because of your resolution then go for it. But if your one and only main reason is to make a connection for friend's job then I say no. But if connection is a minor secondary reason- ok.:D

LOL! Only married men that wish they were single. LOL! Unfortunately, I've run across that type myself. I guess they're out for a good time. Where are the GOOD single guys???

I have Cingular for my cell phone. Haven't had any problems with them so I keep them. ;)

Still trying to figure out what you want to be when you grow up, Legs! You sound like me. I finally figured out that I didn't want to be a teacher and dropped my first teaching course. For lack of interest in anything else, I'm shooting for a business major. Specifically what in business? I haven't a clue!! But I think working for the Federal Gov't. (which I've ALWAYS wanted to do) would be interesting, or even a subcontractor of some sort. Let me find a job I like, and then I can get the education I need. Seems the logical way to do it to me. Prime example...today I was checking on positions available at a company in VA. It's an office assistant. Hmmm...they do a heck of a lot more than they used to!! And for this position you need to be accredited in something. Accreditation??? When does this become part of an office assistant's job? And what do you need to do to become accredited??????? Sheesh!
Expensive and time consuming is right. I'm just taking 3 classes this semester. Where does a single parent find time to take more? I previously had 4 classes most semesters. And I ALWAYS felt like I was behind in a class. I would catch up and fall behind in something else. It's not easy once the kids come. And I can see that my concentration level is still zero! I hope it improves. My mind is on men instead. So I had to look over the courses I've taken and see which I don't need now that I'm headed for business. Well, I don't need Psych...which I got an "A" in, and I don't need Physics...which I got a "B" in. But I'll be there a bit longer since I have to take 2 economics courses in place of Psych. And Physics gives me one more Science course that I don't really need. I like the Science courses any way. Now...MATH is a problem!

That's just too funny, Vicki! I hope you're having a wonderful time in Orlando, Mr. D! ;)

Suzanne...I'll grade your papers for you. I find that to be the fun part. :)

Legs...So sorry the desk is a challenge. On two occasions, I put together pieces of exercise equipment...after sitting on the floor and crying about it first because I was so frustrated. Good luck!

Vicki...I hope your aunt recovers quickly! Sometimes crying is all you can do!

TMQ...Good to see you! :wave2: I'm sorry about the computer problems. Hope your home computer is up and running soon.

Jen...Glad you had a few days off AND are in the middle of a 3-day weekend! :) If I were you, I would stick to my guns and just date anyone who is decent that you come across. You never know who they might know!

Well, I got a page today at work. Unknown # to me. Looked it up on the internet. No # in this area code so tried Melbourne area code and it was a surgery center in Melbourne. Then I freaked out because I thought my mom or sister was having surgery. But then I thought, no they would be in a hospital ER if something happened. So I called and the lady wants to interview me for a job! I had sent a resume over a year ago! No holiday or weekends! But the pay probably stinks since it's not in a hospital. And in Melbourne, even the hospital pay stinks! :(
I know it costs less to live there but it doesn't cost THAT much less!
So, I think I'll interview and check it out anyway.

I had Cingular before I had Verizon- think I'll switch back. We get a 20% discount through the hospital.

If you really want to work for the government, there's always the post office. No degree needed. Just a gun. J/K

When is 2nd date?

I am getting my degrees in Political Science-International Relations, and Criminal Justice. Grad school will be for International Relations. One day I hope to work for an International Organization such as the UN, IMF or Worldbank. :)

As to the second question...your guess is as good as mine. Maybe I spoke too soon when I said he wasn't a jerk like "friend" because I have yet to hear from him. I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt for a bit longer because I know he is busy (works 7 days a week), is remodelling his new home, and had relatives visiting from out of state he was seeing this weekend, plus I also believe him to be EXTREMELY PAINFULLY shy. :)

As for your desire to move to Melb....what is wrong with you woman!!!! :scared: Anyone in their right mind would be looking to move away from this area!!! Good luck with the interview at any rate.

Doc- I think you should see what goes on with the "red-head Disney guy." I don't think it is using him, unless you go into it thinking that you will not like him, and only wanting him for the connection for the job! But in the mean time...why not make use of your "boytoy" while he is still around?? You got a bit of a Demi Moore thing going there for you...except I assume that "boytoy" doesn't have million dollar movie deals, 2 extreme hit TV shows, and his own restaurant....and I would be willing to bet that you haven't had around $40,000 of plastic surgery in order to make yourself look like a scary Barbie doll!! ;)

Doc- saw your comment to me about that song Silence on the "the last" game thread. Tried to PM this to you, but your box is full ::yes:: Anyways, since we are all friends here, I doubted if anyone would mind me pasting my PM to you onto this thread...I figured it would be better than taking the "game" thread off topic! ;)

Personally I didn't really enjoy the movie Brokedown Palace all that much, but it is my favorite soundtrack. I LOVE just about all of the songs on it.

Silence, Damaged (by Plumb), and Deliver Me (Sarah brightman) are my favorites. Although all of the others are great as well!! You should really check it out if you are into that type of music. Generally I don't go for soundtracks, but was very drawn to this one.

Other songs on the CD include:

1. Silence - Delerium
2. Party's Just Begun - Nelly Furtado
3. Policeman Skank (The Story of My Life) - Audioweb
4. Rock the Casbah - Solar Twins
5. Damaged - Plumb
6. Fingers [Original Mix] - Joi
7. Contradictive - DJ Muggs
8. Leave It Alone [English Version] - Moist
9. Naxalite - Asian Dub Foundation
10. Even When I'm Sleeping - Leonardo's Bride
11. Bangkok [Thai Version] - Brother Sun Sister Moon
12. Wind - PJ Harvey
13. Deliver Me - Sarah Brightman
14. Arrest/Darlene Goes Home - David L. Newman

LOL! :earseek:

Disney -- I might have to check that out. I haven't heard of many of the artists on that CD, but I do really like that song. I'd be interested to hear what Sarah Brightman has on it, too.

What kind of place are you working now? Office? Restaurant? I have always been paranoid about dating people that I'll still have to see if things go sour. If things don't work out, are you going to be in close contact with this guy? I wouldn't even date someone in my vet school class because I knew we were stuck together for 4 years and I'd hear all about any new girlfriends, etc. I hope it works out, though. It sounds promising.

Legs -- Why aren't you excited about the job interview? It sounds like it came at just the right time.

h_o_p -- I responded on your other thread. Good vibes --> :goodvibes

Well it sounds unanimous to go for it if friend sets me up with red-head Disney dude.

I just went out with the youngster. It was pretty painful. I think he was either exhausted or still hung over from last night. He left it to me to come up with something to do (note to guys -- do NOT do this! ) He also wanted to keep it cheap, so I brought him to the Boardwalk. We did eat outside at Spoodles, which was SO GOOD (I'd never eaten there). He liked that & said he was having fun exploring around the resorts, but he just looked soooo bored, and it was pretty strained just trying to have a conversation. Well, what do you expect from someone 9 years younger? Actually, we finally got into a good conversation about music on the way home. Bleh. Oh well, now I don't have to go on another date until February. :teeth:

I haven't slept all night. Haven't even gotten changed! A sleepless night in front of the computer. It stinks that I haven't heard from him in 6 days...now 7 I guess. :( Love stinks!! I think I'll go cry now.

Classes start today. How in the world am I going to concentrate? :(
