Okay...I've Called the Late Night DISers, Now I'm Calling the Single DISers (Part 2)

Hi all,
I am feeling much, much better now:flower:
That was a horrible 2 months. I wouldn't have moved if I knew I had to go through that.
I have decided to stay here and I feel good about that decision :goodvibes

Sandy....some men are unable to read I think :)
LOLOL! And at work I see some of them cannot be retrained. Our internal mail guy in particular. He still takes all his stuff into the back office. Unless I see him come in the door, he whizzes back there. Ha! You would think he would want to make it easier on himself and drop it by me!

I'm here, SSB! :wave2: Glad the kids liked your presentation!

Deb...The time is Saturday at 1 for lunch. :) SHORT!! :)

Bea...Let's hope NOT! I have to get after the IT people at work. They have my e-mail address set up with Sandra since it is my legal name. But in my siggie I've put Sandy. You wouldn't believe the number of e-mails I get back from males AND females addressing me as Sandra.  Makes me cringe. No one has called me that since 3rd grade! I'll have to get the IT people to change the appearance to Sandy. They better do this one. Bad enough they wouldn't change my e-mail address. Another strange thing there because they use first name, middle initial, last name. I don't have a middle name.

Legs...Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo glad you're feeling better about the move! Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! Hope it continues to get better and better. :)

Methinks SSB best not keep using that name. :)

For me, I HATED my nickname growing up, and SO changed to real name when I went off to college. Still cringe when I hear it, when back home.

Too funny... the teacher of his class wrote to me saying that they LOVED it... and wants me to do another dealee each of the next two months, which I agreed to. As not teaching at UCF now (at least until summer) will be at least a fun thing to plan.

Hope everyone having a great Thursday.... (Survivor night!)

Legs, I am so happy to hear that things are going better. :goodvibes Change is never easy - even when you are looking forward to it! How is your daughter adjusting?

Sandy, you are worse than me with Debbie. I have absolutely no problem when my family or old friends refer to me that way. But if anyone I don't know well refers to me as such I always correct them. The problem really only arises if it is someone from my old life introducing me to someone new.

SSB, that doesn't surprise me in the least that they loved you! :flower:

Anyone know how long a dog can go without....doing his business? It has now been 48 hours since the move and Mr. Tramp still hasn't provided me with any gifts. It was actually the one thing I was worried about in moving to an apartment. He has NEVER pooped on a walk before. :confused3 :earboy2:

My honey took me out to celebrate the move on Tuesday night (he called it my independence day since it is the first time I have ever leased a place by myself). He took me to Ruggles, a restuarant that I have been wanting to go to for years. Usually when I do that I end up disappointed. Not this time. It was fantastic! :sunny:

Good thinking, SSB! ;) And what was your nickname that you ditched? :scratchin Have fun with the kids the next couple months! :teeth:

Deb...you sound like my sister! As a kid we always called her Trish or Tricia. Trish still sticks with me even though she's known as Pat to everyone else. Well, there is a friend of my parents who calls her Trish also. It was pretty cute when we both called her Trish at her baby shower years ago. Everyone loved the name and thought she should be called that. LOL! My sister was less than thrilled. I just can't get used to Pat. Yuck! Don't like it at all. She's definitely Trish to me. Usually "Hey, Trish!" :teeth:

I don't know about the pup. I guess he needs some time to adjust. Haven't found anything around your apartment? Can your pup train my little one? We walked in the house tonight and it just smelled like he did something somewhere. Found one wet spot, but there has to be something DS and I missed. Guess I'll be walking around barefooted checking. :(

Hope it was a good day at work, Legs!!

Good for you, leggs22! :)

Er, um... the dreaded nickname = "Randy"... which ain't all that polite a word in other parts o' the world... :) Remember someone from UK telling me that when I was a junior high, or so. EEK! Agree about the old world crossing new world when gets a bit tricky... but family mostly call me "Buff" anyway. Was my kind older brother who gave me the name... and was short for Water Buffalo as SSB was a pretty big guy back then. Nice, eh? :)

Sandy (not Sandra) I shall surely be careful! :o

Deborah.... fantastico about your celebratory dinner.... too cool, and very glad that you enjoyed as much as you thought that you would.

Had pretty good meal at HOB last night before the concert... just appetizers, as not much on eating at all early, but better than I thought that it would be. Elvis was good, but a bit too low key for me these days... :) Looking forward to "Green Day" next month!

Work is getting better. I am getting along well with my coworkers. It's the boss that drives me nuts. He has sent me 45 emails in 2 days. I can't get my normal job responsibilities done. He has me doing all this extra stuff. I just sit there and take care of the emails. And if I don't respond quick enough, he calls to ask why. Everyone there thinks there is something wrong with him. The best thing today is when he emailed a coworker a question, she answered him back and then he sent her own answer back to her as an "FYI". That was good for a laugh. :rotfl2:

TB- sounds like you had a good dinner. What kind of food was it? Congrats on your first lease!
DD has adjusted well. She did better than her mother.
Have you watched the Bachelorette? I can't believe she just ended up as friends with her final pick!

SSB- sounds like a great presentation that you put together. No wonder it was so good...you have teaching experience. What did you teach at UCF?

It's Apprentice night!

Ah, no, I didn't finish watching The Bachelorette, kinda wondered what happened there, but I'm glad she didn't accept the proposal, because it seemed like she liked both men, but couldn't envision a future with either of them. Who did she end up picking, though?
I'm an Amazing Race fan! I don't follow the thread though, because it's too many responses to read!

TV? People watch TV? I'm too addicted to the DIS!!!

Geez, Legs! I don't know about that boss! LOLOL! Have you asked him yet when do you get to do your work? ;) I have the opposite problem right now. My VP boss doesn't give me too much. I heard that he and the last person had a problem and he ended up not giving her any work. So it's strange not being located near my bosses, and not getting much from him is definitely strange. Hope he warms up soon! But the Finance people keep me hopping! Ugh! How many zillion reports do they need in a month? :faint: Yesterday I was shown another one. I wonder how much I'll remember when I try to tackle it on Monday.

SSB...Interesting about the name Randy. Wonder if they were pulling your leg! ;)

Bumping up to get an update from PW about the date!! :cool1:

About the nickname "Randy", well, Cosmo uses that expression all the time when talking about, well, yaknow the kind of things Cosmo talks about!

Ooooooo....no response from Sandy yet? Maybe she's still on her date. ;) Just teasin' ya, girl!

I have a "date" tonight, a guy I met thru match and I are gonna talk on the phone tonight. We chatted once on IM and hit it off, I hope it's the same on the phone, nothing like an akward silence yaknow!

Well, I may check in here again tonight. Where is everybody else?

Can I say quadruple frog? Where the heck are the decent ones! An hour with this one was more than enough. He doesn't have a backbone at all...not my type!! First clue was when he was leaving where to meet up to me. HUGE clue was when I saw him inside but just went and got a table. Think he already had one. Well, he went and got the hostess to come over and ask me if it was him (gave me his name) that I was waiting for. Give me a break! I ordered a FAST appetizer and tea. That was it. Ugh! eHarmony's days are numbered!!!

More and more I like my friend, Debbi's suggestion. Her husband recently retired from the Navy. She says I need someone to take me to the Officers Club!! I'm all for it!!!! :)

Bea...hope your phone date goes well. :)

Sandy ~ Sorry about the bad date. :( Sorry, I don't know what the Officer's Club is...can you explain?

The phone date thingie went pretty good, I think. We talked for over 2 hours and only got off the phone cuz the phone card's time was up. Might be IMing here in a bit. We just talked and talked and I still have so much I want to ask him, tell him, etc. It went pretty well. :)

PW- Sorry your date didn't go well.

I went out looking for a house yesterday for the first time. It seems all the single family homes I looked at were the same exact model that I didn't care for. In the living room there was only one window- the one over the door. I like lots of windows and light. Some of the yards weren't great and I don't like the thought of fixing up the yard. If the yard is already nice, I could pay someone to mow it.
I saw one townhouse. I think I like it better than the homes. It doesn't look like much from the front. You open the front door and all you see is a flight of stairs going up. But once you get to the top there are three 8 ft. sliders over looking a lake with a spray fountain in the middle. The master bedroom has 3 windows in a row overlooking the lake. It has a huge screened porch overlooking the lake. It's only a 2 BR but there is a den and the whole thing is 1800 sq ft. It's huge inside. It's gated and has a comunity pool and a one car garage. It looks better than the tract homes I was looking at. But there aren't many kids there, mostly young professionals and young retirees. No playground. Only outside area to play is the pool. Not sure as she gets older if a playground is important though. A townhouse won't increase in value like a single family home though. But I don't like the thought of taking care of a yard and the outside of a house.

Or there is a tract home, more $ than the townhouse. No screened porch, just a patio in the back with a short wood fence around the back yard. So no view. House is ok. It's the one with the dark living room but this house has a glass front door that lets in lots of light. No sure how well people can see in from the outside or how easy it would be to break in though. But if it had a regular door it would be too dark and I wouldn't like it. Yard and house are immaculate. But the yards and houses on either side aren't that well cared for. And the houses look kind of cheap. The pluses are- it's within walking distance to a new elementary school. Lots of kids dd's age. Has community pool too and they are upgrading the playground.

Exactly what it sounds like...for the Officers, not enlisted.

That townhouse sounds gorgeous, Legs! Is it an end unit?

Don't think I could go for a glass door. I'd feel like I'm living in a fish bowl. Don't like the feeling of someone being able to see in at night. Is there a shade, blinds, or curtain of any type?

Sandy, it sounds like that guy definitely wasn't for you. Doesn't it make you wonder how e-harmony thought you were compatible?

Legs, the house hunting sounds like fun! Best of luck in making your decision.

Bizybea, glad your phone date went well! How far does this guy live from you? Any plans to meet in person?

SSB, Buff actually sounds like a cool nickname. You just don't have to tell people how you got it! Siblings are the best aren't they? :earboy2:

Unfortunately it's not an end unit. A 3BR end unit went for $15,000 more. The 2BR & den is just as big as the 3BR. But the townhouse did win out! It is in a fantastic area. My mom and sis came to see it and they liked it too. We were supposed to look at a couple other properties but never got to them. Found out that someone else wanted the townhouse and was writing a contract. I didn't want to lose it while I went looking around some more. They had to know within the hour if we were writing. I knew I would offer full price because the market is so hot but ended up a little over just to make sure I get it. I can't take my time looking around or I will be priced out of the area in a matter of months. The only other townhouse was one built in 1984, frame instead of block, and cost more $$.
So I should know by 5pm tomorrow if I have it.
