We have decided to go ahead a book for next April even though we have had some major things financially come up. Anyways, what I need help with is I have to pick a resort! I am down to All Star Music standard (because preferred is no longer available on the dates I want) or Pop Century preferred or standard. I have struggled and struggle with this decision for some reason. I think I have asked similar questions to this when we were thinking about ASMo, but we have narrowed it down to these two. Here are my thoughts on both,

ASMu - newly renovated, like the theme, show movies at pool at night. However, I am concerned with standard and how far we will have to walk. I would request the following:

*Jazz or Broadway non-pool facing room.

Pop - frozen coke!, no bus sharing, lake views, goofy jets, and the food court looks awesome!

*I would request here just non pool facing.

Anyways, sorry this is so long but what should I do? Please help! I need to book before all the rooms are booked! Things seem to be booking up fast!

Its up to you to make the choice they both have good things about them. But what you got to think is which has more better group things I mean :grouphug: . Duh its for you to relax but family time is the best:dogdance: . So you can have fun at one but will your family be:confused3 ? The best thing I would say to do is...is take a vote:tilt:. You know who thinks what would be fun who thinks what should be better. Its not up to be PM if you need anything else always able to help:boat: . PEACE OWT:hippie: !!

I would pick the All Star's Music. My main reasons are:

1) I like the theme more than POP.
2) Rooms have recently been redone. :)

i'd vote for pop century... we have stayed at both and prefer pop... the resort is more compact and the walk to even the furthest room seemed much closer than the walk to our room at ASMu... we also feel that the theming is more "disney" and recognizable... my kids were not impressed by big boots! LOL!

we liked pop's food court (and the frozen cokes) much better, esp the grab 'n go selection...

last but not least... we stayed at ASMu for over a week last year and there were never any "movies" shown at the pool... is that new?

I actually read about the "movies" on this board just a few days ago. I may not be right. I have never stayed there, but it sounds good!

I have stayed at both. I liked both. POP has the edge because it's newer and has a bar. lol Maggie

I like Pop too. The dedicated buses are great -- you don't want to be in line for buses and see all the full ones drive by your resort (like when they are full from All Star Sports)! The food court is excellent, the grounds with the quirky icons are fun and clever and great photo ops (you can pose w/Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, play twister, check out a ginormous big wheel, etc), plus I think you can see firworks by the lake. Also, the kiddie pool is a lot of fun w/a bunch of fountains to play in.

Are the buses terrible at Music? I have heard bad things about the Pop buses from a friend that just stayed there in June. She said they were bad. Pop is twice as big as one of the All Stars isn't it? Just wondering. I really don't know. I have read good things about Music lately because of the new rooms and I also figured that because of the new non smoking that the rooms at Music would have less of a chance of being smoked in since they are fairly newly renovated. Am I trying to convince myself or what? I do like them both. I don't want to stay at Music though if we will always have to stand on the bus.

FWIW - It has been my experience with both values and deluxes (haven't stayed moderate yet) that whether or not we had to stand on the bus had more to do with time of day than the particular resort. Also, when we went to Sports last year it was during a busy time (President's week) and we never shared busses with Music or Movies. (I know they sometimes do during slower seasons.) Anyway, since there are pros and cons to all the resorts, I would go with whatever theme makes you the happiest. :wizard:

Pop has over 900 more rooms than Music because of the 4th Floor. All-Stars only has 3 floors. So the food court is busier. Personally I don't care for Pop's food court but thats my tastes. If you click at the top of the main page wdwinfo and you can look up menus and resort maps. I think 90's is so much further away than country is at Music. Buses are not horrible at All-Stars yes sometimes they share but they have buses running constantly.

I love the new rooms at Music. Its great that there is a divider between the beds and the sink area, somewhere to change and not worry about someone opening the door. Love it. Do a search of All Star Music photos, someone on here has posted them.

We stayed at ASMu in May and had booked a preferred room but didn't get it. I actually was VERY glad we didn't. It was so much quieter away from the main pool. The walk seems like quite a distance at first, but it wasn;t too bad. (I only have one 4 year old). What I really liked was being close to the quiet pool - we were in Rock. It was great to take a quick swim before or after the parks and be close to the room. There were a few school/band/cheerleader groups when we were there but it was only noisy near the main areas - the pool, food court, preferred buildings. The service at the food court was very good - much better than CBR and POFQ. The food court and grounds were very clean. I also had the best mousekeeping out of my last three stays at Disney. Towel animals too :thumbsup2 I can't say anything about POP since I have never stayed there. It seems to have too much "pop" for me and I prefer something more laidback, which was why we chose music.

Thank you all so much for your help! You all are great as usual! Well, here is what I did. I booked Music for April 12-19 2008 and I asked for the Broadway section to be noted on my special request. I then decided to book Pop for April 11, 2008 so we could try it out too! April 11th will be our arrival day and we will just chill at the resort and let the kids swim and have fun, and then check into Music the next day early! I guess I am getting the best of both! I will let you know how the new rooms at Music are! Thanks again, you are all the best!

Congrats! It sounds as if you are getting the best of both resorts!

I hope you enjoy All Star Music as much as DH and do.

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:

We just came back from ASMu a week ago and stayed at Broadway. Our room faced the back and it was really quiet. The preferred rooms are towards the main pool and I assumed would be quite noisy. And yes, there were movies at night. They also had activities most afternoons when it wasn't raining for kids by the pool. CMs were mostly friendly and eager to help. We find the rooms small for our family and would have loved the size of rooms for a moderate. Most times buses were not shared, e.g. MK, Epcot, Animal Kingdom. When we went to MGM and Downtown Disney, the buses were not empty when they got to ASMu. My only warning is to try to get to the bus stop early at night after the fireworks because the lines are veeeery long:eek:

From my experience, a recently refurbished room is worth its weight in GOLD. Now that I am planning the trips, I try to choose our resort based on which one has most recently been refurbished. It makes all the difference to have a fresh room.

I read that they try to refurbish each resort every five years. So if you time it right, you can stay in all of them when they are fresh and new. I wish there was a place to go with an easy reference for what's currently being refurbished. Sometimes I have difficulty finding that info.

Best wishes for a great trip!

The Pop has an area with a Goofy Statue with water that squirts up out of the ground. Keep in mind I have not stayed there yet, but that is what the picture looks like.:)
