I getting ready for my first trip to WDW and have a dumb question... what is Spectromagic? I've seen this mentioned in other posts but don't know what it is. Is it a parade?

Thanks!

That's not a dumb question ;) . Spectromagic is a dazzling nighttime parade held at MK. All of the floats and whirly balls are covered in changing lights, and the whole thing is choreographed tp wonderful music. The parade features Mickey producing the "magic" in his energy ball to power the entire parade. I think all of the main Disney characters are featured in this parade. Some of the floats even change forms. Cinderella's carriage is also featured. My description does not do the parade justice. You will not want to miss this. Stake out a spot about an hour in advance. Hope this hepls!

I just noticed that we're both from Louisiana! You will have a wonderful time at WDW. I like the Spectromagic parade better than almost any Mardi Gras parade.

Thanks so much for letting me know what Spectromagic is. It's only running one night during our stay at WDW, so I'll be sure to catch it. It sounds wonderful.

Is there anywhere that we can look to see pictures/further description of this? I looked on the DIS site, but didn't find anything. Then again, I'm still new and navigation is not one of my better skills. Seems that my "searches" are too broad!! Oh well, what can I say?? I usually get the answers to my questions right here, so why try so hard/??????

sure, go to your browser the "search" button at the top of your screen, type in spectromagic and you will find something like this:

Not to be missed

It is a beautiful parade - this one starts at Main Street at exits near Splash Mountain (the exact opposite of Come Share a Dream parade - afternoon one)

We find watching from the bridge near Splash Mtn works well for a decent view - also gives us some fast turnaround time rides on SM and BTMRR leading up to the parade time

thanks

I always tell my kids, "The dumbest question is the one you never ask."

We caught it sort of by accident during our last trip in 01/2002. This time around we had to re-arrange our parks schedule to be sure to fit it in... it was at the top of my "DO NOT MISS" list! Fit it in if you can!....P

I (think) I remember a parade with lots of lights when I went in the late 80's, but don't remember it being called that. Is it the same thing? I think that the one I remember was sponsored by Kodak (???). My brain is like swiss cheese at this point, so I don't know if it was a dream or if it really was there!

You might be thinking of the Main St. Electrical Parade.
