Okay, has anyone ever gone from POR to CBR and preferred CBR?

The MOD discussions always seem to fall into resort-loyalist camps, which I understand. POR was the 1st MOD we've stayed at (last year--we really enjoyed it!) and it always seems to be near the top on many lists as best MOD. But, I love the idea of the sand beaches and tropical plants at CBR. Has anyone actually preferred CBR over POR--or liked them equally? Could you tell me why?

I've visted POR but never stayed there, but I have stayed at CBR and its my favorite mod.

It has the nicest food court, I Love the themeing of the resort and it has the largest rooms of any of the moderates. Its also the most newly renovated I beleive. -Stephanie

I will watch this as we are staying 4 nights at WL then moving to POR for 7 nights and then CBR for 2 nights.

i went POR to CS and Prefer CS...The pool is much better and you have got to love PANCHITOS SUNDRIES

I have stayed at both and we prefer CBR. My kids liked it better at CBR also. I don't think you can go wrong at either one.

I have stayed at POR, which I'm sure is nice, but we did stay at CBR and loved it -- my DS14 and DS11 loved it too! You are right about the beaches and plants -- it's like a vacation within your vacation.

We have stayed at both and they are about equal. I would stay at either one.

CBR is a bit larger than POR.
The food court is a toss up.
We did not try to sit down restaurant at CBR which I don't think was opened for breakfast and we were not around the hotel during other meal times. The sit down at POR is nice.
One thing POR has over CBR is the boat ride that you can take to DTD.

Another vote for CBR over PO - DH and grown DD's also agree with this! The tropical theming of CBR as well as the spaciousness of the resort, is what we all love! PO is beautiful, but just not as "special" to us.

We started out staying at CBR and we really loved it! The tropical feel is just our favorite. It's just so light and airy kind of keeps you in a good mood the whole time you are there.

Well, 3 kids later and you guessed it POR AB section for us. We liked the resort well enough, but the trundle just didn't cut it for us and the AB section puts you all the way in the back of the resort. The decor really wasn't what I would like for vacation.

If I had to pick which mod to go with today it would definately be CBR

We have stayed at both, 3 times at CBR with our 2 kids while they were ages 7 & 5, 10& 8, 12 & 10 and loved the resort.

Now that the kids are in college my DW and I have stayed at POR 2 times, 2002 & 2003 and loved it. However, with children my preference would be CBR.

I agree with the post above, you can't go wrong with either choice.

You really can't go wrong with either, but after having stayed at CBR, I fell in love. We liked POR, but CBR is so lush and tropical. It was so great. Plus being able to relax in a hammock and see some of Illuminations, you just can't go wrong!

13 more days and I will be back "home" at CBR!

I would give the edge to POR.

I really liked the lush/tropical grounds at CBR. Beautifully landscaped. The rooms were slightly larger, and I did like the privacy curtain (shouldn't be an issue now since POR has been through a renovation and added these). I also thought the main pool was better at CBR.

I didn't like all the extra bus stops at CBR. There are 7 total I think compared with 4/5 at POR. I also liked POR's food court, store and marina area better. I think POR is laid out a bit better (slightly smaller). I also preferred the quiet pools at POR. Finally, I felt more relaxed and at home at POR.

I really think it comes down to a matter of theming preference over anything else. Both are great resorts. Depending on what is important to you family, you may have a different opinion. I give POR a slight edge mainly for the foodcourt and quiet pool areas, since we use these a lot.

The week before I stayed at CBR in April, a friend of mine stayed at POR. She said it was very nice, but that since she has a DD11 and DS9, she wished she would have chosen CBR after I told her about the beaches and the pool and the opportunity to rent boats and bikes, etc. Her and her husband liked POR and would return, but said that the kids were expecting a more kid-friendly resort.

We have stayed at least twice in all the moderates and our favorites in order are:

CBR, CSR, POFQ, POR ~

CBR and CSR are almost a tie in our family, the tie breaker is the food court, and the ability to book a preferred room at CBR. My dd's LOVE the pool area at CSR and the theming is terrific.

Since I often travel as the solo adult with two dd's I don't mind paying for the guarantee to be close to the food court, etc.

Food court - while I like the pepper market at CSR I don't like having to wait to do the refillable mugs and I don't like to beg at the checkout to have the tip removed when we order to go.

Neither would make or break our vacation, just mentioning the reasons why we prefer CBR.

We stayed at both CBR & POR & I would have to say my families favorite would be the CBR.

POR was pleasant but nothing to knock our socks off. Grounds were lovely but nothing extraordinary about it. We loved our stay there & since we are 5 now we'd probably stay there again but it just wasn't the same as CBR. CBR was so colorful & fun. There is island music playing...the outside bar area & fountain are a great place to have a drink or snack & watch the stars. The beach is nice & you can see Illuminations from there. Food court at CBR also appealed to us more with the theming..just felt like we were really on vacation.

No flames..I know alot of people love the POR just wasn't our favorite.

We have stayed at POFQ and hated the service. The resort was beautiful, but the CMS there were less then friendly or helpfull.

We have also stayed at CBR and loved it. The theming is very pretty, the rooms are the largest of the moderates. The Cms there were wonderful.

We are going back next month,and we are staying at CBR and I cant wait.

CBR was the first on-site stay we ever had. We loved it! We have since tried POFQ, and it just wasn't my favorite. I think I just like the theme of CBR better. Plus, those pedestal sinks drove me nuts! I couldn't get anything to stay in place! When we stay mod again, it will definitely be at CBR. I like the Jamaica village.

As far as the moderates are concerned, I have stayed at POFQ POR and CBR. CBR is my favorite, i love the tropical theme, so bright, colorful and i like the beaches. I have stayed at CBR twice recently and am staying overnight for MVMCP at the end of the month and am staying at POFQ, just becasue I want something different and smaller this time. But CBR is my hands down fave.

We were at POR in May of 04 LOVED it had planned to go back this year in June 05 but decided to let dd then 5 pick out where she thought she'd like to stay she picked CBR (lucky for me she didn't chose GF!!) Ok why not I like doing something new everytime so that's where we stayed. I am so glad she made that choice!! We are beach kind of people and this was perfect it was like being on 2 vacations one at WDW and then one in the tropics. The pool theming made dd think Jack Sparrow was going to show up (which would have been a plus!!) The whole atmosphere was just so laid back I felt. Being able to see part of Illuminations from outside our door didn't hurt either. I was not all that fond of the food court perferred POR there. The poolside bar was much closer at CBR if you'd like to sip an adult beverage while the kiddies swim. I can't wait to go back in May!!!

I am so glad to hear rave reviews for the CBR! I've stayed at POFQ twice and really enjoyed it. I was hesitant to try something new, but I eventually want to stay at every WDW resort. I am SOOO excited to stay at CBR at the end of the month.
