how do you find the exif data not only on your own photos, but those posted by others?

anyway. There are a few different ways to see EXIFdata. With Windows you can download Opanda or do a search for viewEXIF. After downloading a program such as these you can then right click on a picture on the internet and as long as the information is still embedded in the picture, it will give you the EXIF info. There are some picture hosts that strip this info. So you wont be able to see every pictures info.

If you use firefox, there is a different application that you can dowload for that web browser.

For viewing your own pics on your own computer, you should be able to use the imaging software that came with your camera. With Vista if you right click on the thumbnail in your folder and click on preview that info should come up on the bottom of the screen.

KUSO EXIF Viewer V2.0 is the one I finally went with after trying a couple the web site is in another language but the program is in english.

For picture viewing on my own PC, I always use Irfanview. (Unfortunately the "thumbnails" portion has a couple bugs on multi-core CPUs but it doesn't affect the main program.) It's a free download from the home site, grab the optional plug-ins too for exif support. It's small, fast, and does about 95% of what you need to do. It also has very powerful batch support.

Inside the program, just press "E" to bring up the exif information. (Or "I" for general info then click the Exif button.)

In Windows XP,

1) Right click on image to get pop-up menu
2) Select Properties
3) Select Summary tab
4) Click Advanced >> button

This feature is built into Windows XP, so no additional software is required.

There are additional fields in the EXIF that are not formatted by windows. You will need to install additional software to format the extra fields.

Not the op, but I was going to ask if anyone knew of a exif viewer plug-in or application for Safari for Mac. I use Opanda with Firefox, but I just got my first Mac the other day and I'm liking Safari pretty well too.
