I'm going crazy because I used to make a little "cake" years back called "Monkey Bread" - it's something to do where you buy "bisquits" and you like "break them off into little pieces" and you put them in a bunt cake pan or something and your drizzle brown sugar or syrup or something over it and bake it and then you flip it out of the bunt cake and you just "pick" your pieces off ... (i.e., like a monkey I suppose).

Does anyone remember this and have the recipe or am I completely going BANANAS !!!

You basically have the recipe right... I have seen it with the Pillsbury/canister cinnamon rolls, pull them apart, ball them up, and then bake it.

I have heard though to take the little pieces that you break, and dip them into a bowl with brown sugar/cinnamon, and then put it all together then bake it

I do remember that recipe, but the one I remember was putting a small piece of creamcheese inside each of the little pieces. You used one can of rolls, cutting each "roll" into 4 sections and rolling each into a ball, placing the creamcheese inside. I remember melted butter, pecans and cinnamon going to the bottom of the bunt pan, then a layer of the balls, some cinnamon suger over that, then another layer of balls. Can't remember how long it baked.

It was one coffeecake that disappeared within seconds!

Yes - I make this at least once a month for my family! Everyone loves it! I usually double the recipe.

Ingredients
One 10-ounce can buttermilk biscuits
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Raisins (optional)
Chopped nuts (optional)
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine

Cut each biscuit into fourths. Put the sugar and cinnamon into a plastic bag and shake well. Shake the biscuits pieces a few at a time in mixture and place in a well-greased 8-inch round cake pan. (I use a 9x13 pan if doubled) Sprinkle raisins and nuts over the biscuits. Melt the brown sugar and butter; boil for 1 minute, no longer. Pour over the biscuits, nuts and raisins. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 15 minutes or until done. Turn out on plate. Do not cut. Just pull the biscuits apart with a fork and enjoy!

Take risen bread dough and roll out into oblong shape.

Take one money and put in a food processor. Process on "pulse" for 30 seconds. Add one banana, peel and all, and pulse for another 30 seconds.

Take "mixture, spread on dough, roll up and bake for 1 hr at 350.

After it cools, slice it and serve to family and friends who are "hanging around."

Is that the one? :p :p :p

My wife slices up some apples and places that in the pan with the biscuits, sugar, cinnamon, and pecans. We got the recipe from my uncle who likes to call it "Pluck It" instead of money bread.

Me too! It sounds delicious!

How funny that you posted this. I have never heard of/had "monkey bread" but I am reading a book right now, that just last night was talking about "monkey bread"... I just thought it was ironic... LOL! Okay, I'll go now! :o :p :o

Cool! I havent' had this since my great Aunt passed away. I can not wait to make it for my kids!!!
