Curious...

We always clean out the refrigerator before ck out but does anyone leave unopened items in the fridge for CMs to take home? Are they allowed?

I have no idea if they are allowed or not, but it seems like such a shame to me to throw out unopened items that have been refrigerated properly. I left an unopened cream cheese container in the refrigerator and some bananas on the counter. :confused3

I usually go out to the parking lot (OKW) and try to find someone who is just moving in. I offer my unopened non-parishables and fruit to them. Anything that is partially used, I toss.

We toss anything open, but leave everything else, seems a shame to let it go to waste, we always seem to overstock on something (never seems to be the beer or wine though,hmmmm...) Hopefully all of us clean things out and leave the place a little nicer than when we got there.

We throw out anything opened. A few times we've left some unopened things hoping mousekeeping would leave it for the next person or keep it for themselves. But we were told by one person working at VWL that they just throw anything we leave out.

that is so nice - I will have to do this time...

of course I am generally leaving at 4 or 5 in the morning - not many people checking in then... :thumbsup2

I am awful - I take the sheets off the beds - but lots of time I just forget the refrigerator.....

the maids do it if you don't.

Disney does not require this - but other timeshare do require you to help their maids.

Well we always drive to WDW and have a cooler so we empty the fridge, but I guess if I where flying I would leave unopened things or as said try to find someone to give it to. :cool1:

dianeschlicht,
What a GREAT idea-thanks for sharing it!

I'll have to do that next time. Never thought about giving some unopened snacks or sodas.

Last year my parent bought the two of us 2-3 day universal passes. We only planned on going once and that's all we did. We gave the passes to people by the SSR pool when we were checking out. Didn't want those to go to waste.

I usually find a Mousekeeper and let them know that I have left unopened items that they can take!

The opened items, I take to the Garbage Room! along with all the rest of the garbage!

Towels in the Tub, etc.

We leave unopened items in the refrigerator or next to the refrig if it doesn't have to stay cool. We call housekeeping the night before to let them know that we are doing this. The first time that we did this, we were told that these items would be collected and given to "Second Harvest" or the like. Hopefully, that is being done!

our last trip we had a couple of unopened hoegardens in the fridge. It took me forever to give those away! Finally one of the valets took them.

The more kids we have the less we do at checkout. We don't totally empty the fridge any more. The more mess we leave the bigger the tip.

This has always been my methodology, a note saying sorry for the mess and a big tip! :sunny:

We left some unopened things in the fridge after our last stay, but since then I thought I read on here that the mousekeeping staff can't take "leftovers" for liability reasons?? My goal next trip is to not have as many leftovers...I bought too much on our grocery trip last time.

Most things we throw out, but I always offer any left over beer/booze to the bell hop who picks up my bags.
