OK what happens next?

OK we have purchased direct form DVC. Got all the paperwork from DVC and signed notorized and sent it in. Our Closing date is Novemeber 18 or thereabouts.

Was just wondering if anything happens or I just call up member services on my close date as we are paying off then?

You should be in DVC's system within a few days of paying your deposit, at which point you can call MS and start making reservations. Depending on which resort you purchased there may be a restriction on the earliest date of stay. For example, if you purchased AKV then your Unit at AKV may still be under construction. Your earliest date of stay using your AKV points would be the occupancy date of the Unit you purchased. If you got developer points with your purchase then those can be used right away for dates within 7 months of when you book.

If you purchased one of the "sold out" resorts (BCV, BWV, HHI, OKW, VB, VWL) then the occupancy date is not an issue. If you purchased SSR occupancy date may or may not apply.

I knew about being able to make the reservation already did that for a stay after a cruise. Was wondering if there was any other paperwork or I just had to call to set up payment and dues for prorated part of year.

I just agreed over the phone this morning to my first purchase and I'm wondering how long it took for you to receive the package of papers to sign and notarize? And how was the closing date chosen - do you know?

I just bought last month and it took 10 days for my package to arrive. My closing date is November, 18th and I have no idea how they decide upon that. The closing date was on a form in the package.

Thanks for your answer - hope you don't mind a followup question. When did they charge the down payment? Was it immediately, or when you got the packet 10 days later or once you returned it? The reason I ask is because I'm trying to get the Disney Visa $500 bonus and hope the down payment gets charged before Nov. 30th when the offer expires.

They charged my account immediately.
Did your give your guide your rewards ID cardmember number? They need this special number to put in their system for you to receive the $500- rewards.
This number is located in the middle of your chase statement, on the right hand side.
 
Also as for the $500 in rewards. They told us on phone it would take a month or 2 for it to show up in rewards so not to panic when you do not see it on next billing statement.

I would just save the statement as a precaution if a problem arises later on.

Thanks again for the answer! I did give my ID number so I hopefully should be set for now. I am going in February (paying cash for WL - would switch to VWL with points if available, but doubt it - guess I'll find out after closing) so hopefully the reward dollars will post before then so that I can use them on that trip. $500 will cover a lot!

I didn't finance so I'm not sure how/when that gets set up. Re: the pro-rated dues for 2007, if you are paying in full then some time after you have closed they will send you a bill. As I recall, you can mail in a check, call MS to pay by credit card or pay via the members' website (assuming that part of the members' website comes back online sometime this year -- but I wouldn't count on that and probably wouldn't trust it even if it did!). If you are having the dues deducted monthly from a bank account, they will send you a notice shortly before they make the first deduction. You will owe dues starting from the later of your purchase date, the start of your Use Year and the occupancy date of your Unit.
