ok western cruisers which was better east or west?

Hope you all had a great time! Now for my big question.Which was better the Western cruise or the Eastern? We did the Eastern last Dec. and are doing the Western this Dec. I am concerned that I am going to miss that extra day at sea, and I so loved St. John. So which was better? Ann

Mom and Dad like the Eastern better, more to see as far as land goes. They love seeing mountains along the sea.

DH and I loved Western, we had a blast with our snorkling excursions. The water was so clear. We didn't do any snorkling or excursions on our Eastern last year.

Mom, Dad, DH and I have booked a cruise for next year!!!

We are going May 17th on the Eastern.

So you think the water is clearer on the western? Well that is good to know as we were not going to go to the beach in cozumel but were toying with xcaret, maybe we will go snorkleing instead. I know it sounds silly but it seems like when you look at the map that the eastern is so much farther away and the western is so close to florida I hope it still feels like I am in the tropics!

is Cozumel was clearer than Grand Cayman. I am not sure about how clear the water is for snorkling in the Eastern. We didn't snorkle last year on the Eastern. We will for the next year trip!

We snorkled in St John and it was crystal clear ! But I also like Cozumel for snorkling ! I think there are + and - 's to the western and the eastern. IMHO shopping is best in the eastern, I like the mountains in St Thomas and also the island tour. I'm not crazy about St Marteen. It's a very poor island ,very sad. The beaches on the French side are beautiful but not for families..they're topless. Considering everything, I'd have to say IMHO swimming & snorkling are best in Grand Caymen and Cozumel. We're on the western in Jan. Toooooo long !!

We've only taken the Western, so I can't say personally, but I did hear at least 3 people on separate occasions say that they liked the Eastern better - one said it was because there were more days at sea.

However, the folks that I overheard saying this were a bit older than DW and myself (probably about 50+), so they might not have enjoyed so many excursions/trips to port, but my feeling is that you can just stay on the ship!

Anyway, I'm sure you'll have fun no matter which one you try.

My biggest fear is (other than truely missing the third day at sea- it was so great to spend two full days getting to St. Marteen) is that the western itinerary seems so close to the U.S. while it was quite a distance to get to St. M. Did the western seem as tropical and paradise like ( I am referring to St. John which was just beautiful)

No - haven't rebooked yet - am thinking either Land & Sea starting May 15, 2003 or the Eastern on May 17, 2003. We're bringing the In-Laws, so we're letting them decide. Should know something by the end of the week.

I was surprised that I liked the western route better. Much better diving. I did miss the extra day at sea.

St. Maarten/St. Martin
St. Thomas
St. John
Castaway Cay

7 Day RCCL's Voyager of the Seas Western Itinerary:
Labadee Haiti
Ocho Rios, Jamaica
Grand Cayman
Cozumel

We loved both cruises and itineraries just about equally. One of the differences in the Disney Western is that the islands are all flat. Out of all the islands we say on our cruises Jamaica was by far the greenest and most lush. Also very moutainous. St. John coming in a close second. The water in St. John was prettier than in Jamaica though. Cozumel definitely has the best snorkelling and probably shopping too although I loved the shopping in St. Thomas. I really think you can't go wrong wither way.
