Ok to ask for more than one autograph?

One or two extra autographs is fine. But when there are 5 or 6 or so books Guests should be aware that their interaction with the character might be cut back because they are taking so much time to sign tons of books/t shirts/pillow cases etc. Same with multiple photos. The characters only have so much time and if Guests want to use it up with signing or pictures then that's that.
But I don't think what you are asking is a problem at all.

I would think your best bet would be to let your kids get there autographs and then approach them yourself with the book for your niece and nephew and briefly explain that it's for kids in your family who couldn't made the trip. I'd be hesitant to get separate autographs for each of them if they can't share one book. As quite a few other people have mentioned, the characters are only out for a limited amount of time and the more time they spend signing autographs for you niece and nephew, the less time they have to spend with other kids who actually are at WDW.

Personally, I feel like the autographs are special because they remind the child (or adult!) of the experience of meeting the character, though maybe your family feels differently. Still, I would think about whether going through the trouble of getting autographs is the best way to bring a piece of Disney home to your niece and nephew. Is there a souvenier they would really enjoy? Or maybe you could split the difference. Have them each pick out a favorite findable character, buy a shirt or hat or something with that character on it, and have the character autograph that one thing. That way, your niece and nephew each have a special autographed Disney memento, and you aren't holding up every line for the characters you get into.

Do you think it's rude for the parents to get autographs for the niece/nephews? If so, would it be rude if they wanted autographs for themselves? If not, what's the difference in time?

Or were you all thinking the kids would be getting multiples autographs?

I have found that just because you are in line for an autograph doesn't mean you will get one. One time we were in line for Tigger and Pooh. The CM running the line told us that just because we were in line, we were not assured of getting an autograph. Tigger and Pooh had to leave at a certain time, and if we didn't get our autographs by the time, we were just out of luck.

We ended up with our autographs, but if the families ahead of us wanted multiple books signed, we may well not have.

I can see bringing books for others as something that would quickly get out of control. And then people who are actually at the parks would have an even harder time getting autographs. So that is why I think it is a little rude.

But honestly, I agree with the poster who said you should play it by ear. See when you are there how long the character lines are. If they are short, go for it. But if there is a huge line of people behind you wanting autographs, I think that is not the time to whip out extra books for signing.

I know this has turned into a debate thread, but it's making me miss standing in character lines!! Come on, September!!

I have never heard of that happening, unless it was a certain reason why it was picture-only. Usually if the character is able to sign, they are supposed to sign.

I sure hope it's okay for adults to get autographs because my goal in life is to meet Ariel and have her sign my autograph book. :)

YAY!!! Another topic for the wand wavers!!!

I think it's fine, they don't put that much effort in it, we saw Jasmine sign looking in the other disection. Eeyore did his without looking (granted that one took a while), but for the most part it takes all of 10 seconds and it's done.
