Is it rude for the kids to ask for more than one autograph? We are wanting to get a few signatures for my neice and nephew, (not making this trip) but was wondering if that is proper........having my kids have their autograph books signed then having another set signed right after for their cousins.

Your thoughts?

I have to say I think it is kind of rude. The characters are only out and about for a limited time. I just think that if a lot of people did that, then many people who are actually at Disney waiting in line wouldn't be able to get autographs. Maybe and adult in your group could take up the books and have them signed? At least that way you would be counted in line as a person, kwim?

What you want to do is nice, but I think the lines would be a mess if everyone did that.

If there's a line of people behind you, it's rude. Maybe you could make copy of your autograph and put it in a scrapbook along with a picture of the character for the cousins.

I don't think it is rude at all, unless it was like more than 3 or so extra autographs. It only takes 5 seconds for them to do an autograph, it's not a big deal. People can wait 15 extra seconds so your child can get his cousins some autographs IMO. If they tell you no, just give 1 book to each person in your party, and have the adults get an autograph too. :thumbsup2

Sure, why not. It's no different than the family with three kids going up, each with a book in hand. And it involves less pictures.

Go for it! I would have the kids take their books and you be ready with the stuff for the others. If people can't wait an extra 15 seconds for another signature, then they don't need to see the character. It's no different than a family with a bunch of children. You wouldn't tell them that only 3 could get a picture with Mickey this time.

I say go for it.:thumbsup2

Really, how long does it take to have a book signed?

To speed up the process have all of the books open to the correct page and the pens ready.

If you're worried about the folks behind you in line complaining, you can just have everyone in your group collect autographs.

Of course then you'll have folks moaning about adults getting autographs.:sad2:

I like your idea. I may just do this during our August trip.:thumbsup2 I'll be the 41 year old woman standing in line with 2 autograph books. Oh, please ignore the 17 year old who I’m sure will be standing off to the side dying of embarrassment - that would be my son.

I think this is one of those "play it by ear" situations. The CM's who are assisting with the character will let you know if it's okay. Usually, they tell everyone to have their books open and pens ready to speed things up. I don't see any issue if there are four of you and you get four autographs.

That said, why would you really want an extra autograph in a book? I guess the purpose of this eludes me.

I think a better suggestion would be to buy a piece of clothing (hat, t-shirt, etc.) and have the characters sign that for your niece and nephew. That would make a wonderful personalized souvenir. You could even take a picture of the characters signing the t-shirt or hat to present to your niece and nephew.

I see both sides of the story here. Myself, I think I would feel guilty if there was a long line behind me.

Sorry, but I have to say that I also think it's a little rude. There are many souveniers that you can purchase while at WDW to take home for those not able to go. That little 20-30 seconds may not seem like a long time, but it may be the difference of someone being able to get into that line or not...someone who is actually there. Some people in those lines take a crazy amount of time as it is, lol.

For those who say it's rude. . .

How about if the yellow shirt has already cut off the line. There is now a finite end in sight. You are four or five groups ahead of the final autograph seeker.

Is it then alright to seek multiple autographs?

Or say it's a character with a stamp, I mean, that takes no time at all?

Or if you ask for extra autographs, but don't pose for a picture?

Or if they let everyone jump in front of them, until just before the last family, then go for the bonus signatures?

In the long run, asking for an additional picture takes up less time then when the yellow shirt is jumping in front of "non-line waiting photo snapping out of turn person".

I like to call that person a NLWPSOOTP. Between the DIS and the military, I get more than my RDA of acronyms and abbreviations.

Ooh, RDA, another one.

Well first of all thank you all for your wonderful input.....As a newbie who is trying to do what is best, I appreciate all the help I can get!!

The idea I was wanting to do was get the autograph books for my kids, and then get the mak-it plate "papers" signed for the cousins. (Remember the plates you would draw on with the markers and mail in, and would get it sent back as a hard plastic plate weeks later? LOVED THEM!!) Not only would my girls have the wonderful memories of being able to take the trip, but they would of course have their autograph books to reminisce in. Then to be able to share a little "pixie magic" with their cousins with a souvenir they would never expect, andone they could use over and over and not just have it end up in a closet or on a shelf!

OK--I think i got it-;)
I'm thinking that having my wife and I do the plate papers and the girls their autograph books...... Which brings me to my next question....Is it normal for adults to get autographs? Personally, I would think yes as WDW is for everyone to enjoy, right?

........ugh...my head hurts :sad2:

Yes adults can get autographs.

It's your vacation, your money, your time!! I think it's a great gesture!!!
I'm sure you'll play it by ear.

Some people on here just need to lighten up.

Yes it is. I do it all the time. And I've taken pictures for plenty of adults with the characters (both with and without kids). :)

It better be ok for adults to get autographs! We'll be there next month and I will stand in line for autographs-especially if they're my fave!! I will be stalking Sleeping Beauty in France for SURE ;)

Do you think it's rude for the parents to get autographs for the niece/nephews? If so, would it be rude if they wanted autographs for themselves? If not, what's the difference in time?

Or were you all thinking the kids would be getting multiples autographs?

I don't think it's rude.

I don't think I would get autographs in an autograph book for kids that didn't go to WDW. I could have bought another autograph book for my younger niece who didn't go. To me that is something that has meaning to the child getting it. It wouldn't have meant much to her at 2.5 yrs. I also know that she will have a turn going with me to WDW or DL. But maybe the cousins are older and would like a book full of autographs.

I think a t-shirt with maybe a few autographs that go with the shirt might be more meaningful. Especially, if you think the cousins will go to WDW sometime. I know my cousin's collected autographs at 9 and 10 (almost 11)when they went on their first trip.

I've been in the princess line behind a family that had three children with autograph books and two adults each carrying three or four scrapbook albums. It. Took. Forever. Try to explain to your 4-yr-old why she can SEE the princesses, but can't go up to them for 10 minutes- and then has to wait another 10 minutes to see the next one. That is an extreme example (who on earth would carry stacks of scrapbook albums around the parks???) but to say autographs take five seconds apiece is ridiculous. We were inside the princess room for over 30 minutes because of this one family.

That said, I don't think the few extra autographs needed to fill a plate are a big deal. And to the OP, just so you're not surprised when you get there, the autographs are usually pretty large- like the size of an index card. My first trip I was pretty surprised at how much space they took up.

I think it is fine. I have always done pillowcases for my kids ecah trip and will continue to do so becase I think it is a great souvie. Well last year DD wanted to have her own book too so she got her book done and me and MIL got the cases done for DD and DS. Really it is only seconds!

I would say have your kids get their autographs and you be ready to get the autographs for your niece and nephew. I have 3 kids and I am making a scrapbook for each of them. Now my 9 and 7 year old will get their own autograph, BUT my 13 mo old wont be able to walk up to each character and hand them the book (shes so small I'm sure they wont see her and who knows what she will do with the sharpie - probably eat it) So I have every intention of getting the autographs for her :)
