Ok, This is not testing anymore, enough

Had 4 FP- for Space Mtn that we couldn't use before we had to head over to POLY for our ADR at 'Ohana, so kept searching for a family of 4 heading that way, and ended up finding two teenage boys who looked at me skeptically when I asked them if they could use some FP for Space Mtn? When I explained we were going to be unable to use them because we had to get to dinner, they looked exactly as you described, and after I handed them the FP and we started to walk away, they said hey, THANKS, and then both took off RUNNING towards Space Mtn! It was fun.

My DD5 did the same when we had to leave for the airport, she found a little girl in the lobby that was just checking in, and she gave her the balloon we had purchased on Main St. our first night, and told her, I have to go home, so you can have this! The girl couldn't have been more than 2 or 3 yrs old, and here eyes were like saucers! And her mom was almost in tears! It was great!
We had a couple of passes for Soarin' but we had to go and couldn't wait. I saw an older couple coming into Epcot and explained that we unfortunately couldn't use them. These people were so thrilled!

And no we didn't do this on a regular basis before someone complains.

I don't think it's a question of fair or unfair. It's a question of whether or not Disney wants to spread out the FPs across the masses, which I think they do.

Why would someone complain? I think it's great when people do this.

All indications are that it will probably be like this but hopefully not this holiday season. Let us get our trip out of the way first! :)

I would, probably plan on this for the holiday season.

Well, it definitely seems that your trip is affected by the new MyMagic+ system, but I wouldn't say it has much to do with the testing phase, but the whole system in general.

Agreed, my personal issues are with the whole system.

But I have philosophical issues with a company that closes a headliner like Test Track with very little advance notice. Or closes the monorail with little notice to the guests paying top dollar at a monorail resort. Or removing FP- for guests at a given resort with no advance notice.

I wasn't there for any of those specific things, but I can not like what that tells me about that company....... that they think people will not like those things, so they are willing to withhold the information until the last possible moment, leaving people with no chance to reconsider.

If Disney wanted to spread the FPs among the masses, they could have programmed FP- to only allow X FPs per ticket. Or only one FP per attraction.

I know those of you who like to sleep in and arrive late think Disney saw your plight and wanted to even the playing field, but for this sort, I really think it's just a happy byproduct.

They're testing every avenue and possibility to perfect the system. There's no going back on this but they want guest feedback to provide the best vacation experiences. These rules for FP and KTTW are tentative until they decide which is the best. Pop, being the cheapest resort, is the first to get this new stipulation, just like epcot is the first park to get the tier system. More resorts and parks will adopt these systems in the near future, but it's likely they won't adopt the same exact terms. Maybe they decide after gathering data and opinions from pop/epcot tests to increase FP+ allotment to 5-6 a day, allowing for park hopping. They could make adjustments to the tier system suitable for MK, and begin to phase out paper FP on a large scale, and then, fully implement the newly perfected system to AP and off-property guests.

Some guests don't think people should be pulling paper FP if they also have FP+, despite being told by CM that you should ABSOLUTELY use your KTTW cards to pull paper FP in addition to the 3 FP+ you get, because offsite guests can pull as many paper FP as they like, why shouldn't you be able to as well.

maybe the want to reduce wasted paper. :)

I don't think Pop is the cheapest resort. But I do think it's the largest. That's my guess as to why it went first.

I don't think it's for the people who like to sleep in and go late as you say. I think it's for the people who spend $10,000 because it's their once in a lifetime trip and they get there and don't know how to work the system like others.

And yes they could have, but it's antiquated technology. MM+ and MBs are what they are planning for the future. You see it as a by product. I see it as part of the bigger plan.

ETA... Here's a question... if you think they don't want to spread them out, why not just incorporate the FP machines to work with MBs? Then they'd work just as they do now, but you'd scan your MB on it instead of sticking in a ticket??

Why do you think they are limiting the number at all regardless of how they're doing it, if they're not trying to spread the FPs out?

This in bold is a choice. How is this unfair to anyone but you?
You said that the new system is more fair. I disagree. It may be more fair to you because of the choice that you make. Not researching your trip before going is also a choice that someone can make. But after one day of seeing and learning how the system works, the next day you enter the park, you are on the same playing field as everyone else. This will no longer be true. Those that planned weeks ago will have already taken up some of those FP+s. Just as those non planners have a very hard time getting any good ADRs, the same things could very well happen with FP+. It seemed that paper FPs were pretty fair to those that researched, those that didn't research (because they could catch up the next day), those that like to be at RD, and those that liked spending the whole day in the park.

So FP+ may be more fair to those that tour like you, there are many that it is more unfair for. So again, let's not pretend that FP+ has anything to do with being fair.

I don't think the system is fair or not fair. Fairness isn't a quality I really believe in, because of the whole "life isn't fair" thing. I misstated that. I think it gives some people that didn't have as much of an opportunity to get a fast pass the opportunity to get them now. Let's not forget that everyone didn't know about FP- before either. Some people knew about it and knew how to take advantage of it, others didn't. I, for example, have a limited amount of walking I can do before I start having walking issues. Walking to Space Mountain, getting a FP, walking somewhere else, then walking back to Space Mountain isn't something I consider worth it. I'd rather just wait in line. FP+ allows me to do it from my phone, or at home...which is more appealing to me. No system is ever going to make everyone happy.

I never said FP had anything to do with being unfair or fair. I said that some people may consider it to be more fair to them. Disney is all about profit, that's what FP+ is about. They could care less about fairness.

That I get. I thought she meant people would complain because she gave the FPs away. I didn't understand then, sorry.

AP holders, non-resort guests, Cast Members, and more still cannot get Magic Bands and FP+. Also, not all resort guests get the same thing (Example: some get KTTW cards, some don't).

Put out the rules, put out some dates so people can plan and know what to expect.

Actually, Disney is constantly changing the dates of when they expect things to happen at this point.

Sounds like it's still in testing to me.

No, I think she meant people complaining about giving FPs away. Well, not "people" so much as one particular poster..... :cool2:
