OK...so where is the next DVC going to be??

I'm not sure what Screamscape's past record has been, but they posted the following today...

It's a rumor site.

That being said, I'd say they're right about 40% of the time. Or, rather, about 40% of the time the things they talk about actually occur (which isn't to say that, at the time they post the rumor, it isn't being considered). I don't think they have a lot of inside sources (especially when it comes to Disney) but there are a LOT of people who read the site, and they pass along info and sightings.

To elaborate: Blackstone Group (who also own a piece of Universal Orlando) bought 'em back in late '09.

This is slightly off topic, but seriously Sea World used to be a big runner against WDW for us. We loved it there. Since the Blackstone group has taken over (we were really sad about this ) it has really gone down hill in our opinion. We miss the care and pride that AB used to put into the parks. The personal detail and touches that made it so wonderful. We also feel like the cleaniness isn't there, the merchandise prices have sky rocketed (I know as a rule merchandise is expensive but seaworlds was reasonable) and the over all park feels cheap now.

With that being said I am going to assume that most who didn't spend lots of time there before the sell won't notice these changes but it's the same for us dis'ters who notice the changes like the lack of christmas decor at WDW in places this year and things like that. Not that these places still aren't wonderful and I am by no means bashing anyone. I just feel like they have let the atmosphere of Seaworld go and it has since gone down on our list of things to do if we have time to kill...no longer a priority. :sad2:

I think you're right, but I agree. It would be great to have a Disney Park in the Mid Atlantic region.

If I was Disney, I would build in the middle of the country if I wanted to build another theme park area. The east has WDW and the west has DL. How aboua mid-America park? There are a LOT of us who spend way too much getting to either coast to feed our Disney habit.

I have not been interested in adding anymore points, but if there was a park within easier distance for us, we would consider more points. Maybe the Dallas area?

What about taking down the other Contemporary wing and building BLT2? No good views? Not enough room?

Too much utilization of those rooms, especially by convention goers, for Disney to give them up.

I heard that a survey was done of the other Garden wing for a another tower like BLT, but the cost of building would be much higher because the ground cannot support the weight of a tower without more reinforcement. That means less profit so I can't see Disney building there.

And as to the convention goers, those rooms rent for a lot less and if a larger hotel could be built there Disney would do it. But it would destroy the views from the rooms at the CR facing east. Since the CR is near icon status, I'm not sure that Disney would build there and have a larger building overshadow CR.

Considering the winters they have in Dallas, I don't think it would pull in a lot of money in that season. I know at one time Disney owned some property north of Houston but less than 45 minutes from downtown. And the rumors flew about a Texas Disneyland. Then rumor has it, Disney sold the property in the last five years. To my knowledge nothing can be confirmed, except I remember reading something about the land being sold in one of the local Houston papers, but I can't find the article.

I saw a few posts referencing Disney's America. Those Samland blogs were awesome. I guess I have some fellow readers here.

I know all the new WDW resort rumors, but there are so many resorts there already. I think it makes more sense for DVC to expand globally at this point. So that would mean western Europe or the Caribbean. But who knows?

This was written on one of the other boards back in July 2010.

There have been some rumors floating around about a new Disney Vacation Club portion being added to the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Although details have not surfaced, word is that we could see an existing building converted rather than a full add-on to the resort.

This is the one that would get my vote!

Frankly, the weather in Florida hasn't been much better the past few years in December and January.

..Although Florida has not been sheets of ice sliding off the roof of space mountain, injuring guests in line bad..(Like Cowboy Stadium)

We met with a guide last week on the Disney Dream cruise. He confirmed that plans have been drawn up for River Country and the Grand Floridian. He indicated that if the DVC was built at the Grand Floridian, it would be very small. Similar to the Grand Californian.

I doubt that will ever happen because of a few reasons. Unlike the current Bay Lake Tower they can't build a skybridge to the 4th floor because of Chef Mickey's being in the way. Besides that the current Garden Wing building at the Contemporary had all their rooms fully renovated and you think a few years later they will get rid of them? Plus their Garden Wing rooms are the least expensive room category among the Monorail Resorts and are very popular, since they sell out fast. Finally if all the Contemporary was left with was their Tower rooms it would be a lot harder to get a reservation there and not fair for those who like to stay there. Also on that side is their convention center so I am not sure a second Bay Lake Tower would fit there and with the amount of convention guests which stay there the Contemporary needs their Garden Wing building.

We were on the Keys to the Kingdom tour last weekend and in the Utilidors they have a display of all the 'new' things going on in the world of Disney - CA Adventure expansion, Ko Olina, Fantasyland expansion, etc. One of the drawings was for a DVC they are hoping to build that are little cottages. Our tour guide didn't say where they are looking to put these (could it be the DC one?), but she did say that DVC has had in mind for awhile to build a resort that would be all cottage homes. So where would that fit? New England maybe?

I don't think this would be DC. It is an urban resort and all of the current hotels are multi story hotels.

Sounds like a great idea for somewhere in the Northest or New England!

There is enough room at the sight across the main road from DHS, but that is the only place I can thing of that could fit a townhouse or OKW/SSR configuration, although I would guess it would be a "blended" resort in any case.
