but I can 't find the thread! I need some advice on renting points. We are taking my sister and her family with us in October. Currently have them booked in a studio but she has concerns about the room and ideally would like a 1 bedroom. Since I don't have enough points we would need to rent points. I've never done this before and understand it can be risky. Can someone offer me some advice! Thanks!

If you are already an owner get the points transferred into your account with the correct UY and resort. This way you can make the booking and have full control of your families reservation.

I want to make sure I understand. You are covering the room for them and they will fit in a studio. They want more (for whatever reason) and you are covering the cost?

Likely the best way to stretch your points would be to rent one or more nights on cash, possibly a weekend night. You could certainly pay to have points transferred to your account also, just make sure the points will work for when you need them.

Long story, but my mom is staying with sisters family in a studio and my sister has reservations (which I totally understand), and my sister will be covering the cost of the rental, I am just doing the research! I appreciate your concern!

browniemtb, I love your idea of a transfer! I am looking into that as well. Thanks!

Hi
We just had points transferred into our account. I posted the number of points needed on the rent/trade board. It is a little scary dealing with someone that you dont know anything about. You are giving them money and hoping that they will transfer the points. Our transaction went real smooth and we are now able to stay the extra night.
Good Luck

a little hi-jack here but you are right about getting nervous. I have found that when I look on the rental board there are people who only have 2 or 4 posts.
I think I would rather deal with someone who is on the dis board a little more than a few posts. Now, of course who knows someone could have thousands of posts and not give you your points/transfer either but to me i would rather
deal with someone with a little more than a couple of posts....just my thoughts :goodvibes

Renting/Transferring points is a trust basically between the 2 parties, if you feel it's a bad move, women's intuition, men's intuition, gut feeling, etc then simply decline. I have rented prior to becoming a member and always had outstanding experiences, the renters followed thru just like they said they would, and I sent payment as promised. But I had personal information such as name, address, phone number, email, etc. And as I stated, it all went smoothly, but if you don't feel comfortable with the transaction, then politely decline. Post count does come into play, but again post count doesn't mean you can trust the person... Just my opinion!
