Ok...So how fast is the Tower of Terror, really?

I was chicken too...but I rode with my DD's 12 and 16, DNiece 35, and DGNiece 10 and DGNephew 8...
Who can be chicken when an 8 year old is running toward the line yelling "C'mon Aunt Jenn!"

I could ride it again...It made me feel a little like a yo-yo...but fun...

Hi Princess, The ride is fast enough that my-bride-to-be almost tore my arm off she was squeezing so tight. Also to this day she tells everyone that she was not afraid. But I have the bruises to prove it. Hope you had fun on your trip and when you go for your honeymoon also.

This is without a doubt my most absolute favorite attraction at Disney. I LOVE TOT. On Thursday, I rode it with my mom (Her first time since she rode it when it was ONE drop) and we had a great time. We dropped at least 5 times, and yes I mean BIG drops. I took air on all of them. :)

I have never dropped that many times and the subsequent littler drops. It was a blast. There was a woman who's daughter conned her into going on. She was in Row 2 (front row) and I was in 3. When she found out she was in the front row, she asked to switch, of course I agreed. She was terrified, but once the ride commenced, She loved it. She was giggling when she got off.

If you can screw up the courage, do it. it is the number one thrill on the parks. (that is until Expidition Everest opens!)

The coolest time is to go at night. The view is spectacular! My DW is the biggest chicken there is, no coasters, nothing, and she loved it and can't wait to go on again.

I must have rode ToT at least 40 times over the years but last month was the first time I rode it at night, during EMH. It is awesome! My favorite WDW ride, with RnR a close second!

I am a huge ride chicken - hate drops (even Pirates takes some building up to for me!). I did do ToT once and liked it, but haven't gone back yet. Why? Well, my friends sitting next to me loved it. Because they had never heard a grown man screem so loud nor so long. I recall hearing them laugh as a stopped screaming, but only to catch my breath and scream some more. I know when the picture was taken because I could suddenly see shadows of the heads in front of me through my closes eyelids.

That being said, it was a really smooth ride, and had I been able to quell the scream like a maniac switch that obviously flipped, I think I might have enjoyed it! (the fall itself - the rest of the ride was very cool)

It is worth going - I don't think it'll make anyone sick, as it is really smooth, and even a screaming maniac like me can still survive it!

I'm also a big chicken. The most terrifying part of the ride is the anticipation of dropping. As for the drop, not that fast and lots of fun. :) I felt like I was bouncing. :Pinkbounc I recently read that the drop is only 30mph. Do it! ::yes:: It's a specatular ride and the views from the top of the elevator are not to be missed. I'm afraid of heights but I felt very secure in the elevator.

I think I read that it falls faster then gravity

well we braved the TOT when we went to MGM a few weeks ago. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. my husband to be went around telling everyone that he wouldn't go back on it...but now he's changed his story to he would try it again next time just to see how the "computers change the sequence".....riiiiiiight.

anyway, we will be towering again....

I'm one of those that actually thought it wouldn't be too bad to ride it. I did it once and hated it. Decided I needed to do it again next trip-- I hated it more. However, I'm glad I did it. Otherwise I would of never of known how much I hated it. I say give it a try once-- and then you can at least say you did it.

I avoided TOT for our first few family trips. Our DS was not quite 7 during our first trip and he always wanted to try it. I am not much for drops or coasters but we have always enjoyed Big Thunder. Anyway, finally in 2002 with DS now almost 12 I decided I would give it a try. I was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo scared I cannot even describe it. After that first ride I was HOOKED. I can spend all day on TOT it is so awesome. The theming is incredible and the suspense builds as the elevator leaves the first shaft and proceeds down the hall. The technology to do this is amazing. I agree with all the other posters that the scariest part is when your car enters the drop shaft and you sit there in darkness. There is no way of knowing if you will be going up or down and how many times. Let's face it, there are many rides that lift and drop people. Nothing compares to the Tower of Terror. Disney deserves a lot of credit for this truly amazing ride.

Can anyone tell me why it's scarier sitting in the front row? Our whole family has been chicken, and we've yet to to ride TOT but are trying to build up courage for our trip in December.
