OK Pete, I'm ready for the E ticket app for Android

(Oh and the 2.1 rollout has been pretty much done for over a month now..at least)

Completely done? One of my colleagues was pretty sure she hadn't gotten it yet as of last week. I don't know the status of the one I'm getting yet. They kept delaying it...

While hoping/waiting for E-ticket, does anyone know if the DISboards supports mobile phones well in general? I know the software supports a MOD called "Tapatalk" that is supposed to work well with various breeds of smartphones, including Android, Blackberry and iPhone...

Everyone I know that has a Motorola Droid (we tend to find each other! :thumbsup2) was upgraded well over a month ago.

As for DISboards on the Droid (haven't tested others) it works great. The Droid's large screen allows for viewing in "regular" internet mode in the browser that comes w/ the phone, as opposed to a "mobile" view.

Has anyone else noticed how....... "quiet" Pete is about this subject? I know Kevin will pop into these "PRO DROID" posts once in awhile and say "NEVER", but Pete wont say anything. Are they just unable to produce an android app for E-ticket, or just too brainwashed by IPHONE? I would wager a bet that the majority of DIS'ers hate hate hate hate hate hate hate AT&T like me.
I really wish we could have an "official" response by Pete on this matter. Android app Pete?

I was at DISapalooza and asked Pete and he did say that they were going to do Eticket for the Android platform. Also, Pete has been very busy this spring. Now that he is back from his cruise and giving a few days to get settled hopefully he can get a Droid app going.

An Android version does present a bigger programming challenge, as not all Android phones are the same. Different screens, resolutions, Android versions, etc.

But hopefully the API is close enough that the bulk of it can be converted easily.

Count me among the happy droid users that is anxiously hoping for e-ticket. Would be happy to beta test for ya! I'm really hoping that all the work already done to create the original app will be portable to the other platform....and that it will be easy to make it an app available for android...but I live in the real world, and I understand that things don't generally work that way. But I live ever hopeful...

Will happily pay for it as soon as it is ready. I downloaded an app that is a "mini guide" to Magic Kingdom just to have something on the phone, but it sure doesn't satisfy...

e-ticket sounds AMAZING.....

Fingers crossed in Chicago!
Thanks
Brooke

Is this where you sign for the beta testing? I'm in. Just ordered my new Incredible Droid. I just love saying it....Incredible Droid! I guess they are flying off the shelves, they are quite popular. Pete, you really need to corner the market on this disney app before it gets out of hand. ;)

Just to point out, Android has overtaken iPhone in overall market share of smartphones :)

...would like to add that I would be willing to beta test as well. We will be in "the world" for five days next month so there is time to fine tune the app before we get there!;)

I'm about 90 percent sure I'm getting the Incredible also. I'd love to hear all about it when you get it. Ohh....and yes....I'll need eticket also, although Verizon does have the mobile magic ;) (think that will get him fired up?)

I'm torn between the Incredible and the EVO 4G. The $20 savings per month on the Sprint network might be the deciding factor.

I was able to get a great deal with Verizon. We had an aircard with sprint, my wife bought the Palm Pre and it comes with a built in hotspot for no extra cost. So that saved us 60 bucks, plus a discount for being a school employee. We dropped from 260 for two phones on separate contracts to 145 for two phones on a family plan with data on both.

That deal sounds boss.

Ok I had to bring this back up since I just ordered my new Android phone!!! Woohoo! I am getting a Motorola Backflip for my work phone and will still have an iPhone 3GS for my personal device. I am excited.

:confused3: Isnt Corey in charge of this stuff now? I really wish they would announce something for us about the Android platform. "EVERYONE" (well mostly everyone) has Verizon. Verizon, by far has the best coverage and the best phones. Eticket would really be great for Android. I cant believe I have an APP to remotely start my car, one to record my Directtv shows from my phone, one to play old TV shows on my phone, but I cant get eticket.
Its really time for the DIS to catch up and launch already.

You need to realize this isn't something that should "just work". It's like the old days of a PC vs. Mac. They are different platforms. They are programmed differently. It takes time, effort and money to port from one to the other. And now Apple is of the opinion that if you want to write a program for their iPhone, you shouldn't be allowed to do it using anything that would make it easy to develop it for any other platform.

but it's been over a year since Eticket release and not even a hint about an Android app? that seems a bit excessive.. there are numerous threads about android eticket and there is never an official response. I understand that the crew is pretty biased towards Apple, but I would wager that the majority of listeners are Verizon customers. AT&T may work in Orlando, but everywhere else around the states, its hit or miss if you will get a signal.

I think I have the right to rant about this, Ive been asking for an official response from the DIS for over a year. "Hey Pete, or Corey, how about an Android Eticket App?" :confused3

I thought Eticket was fairly new to iphone. I checked the official eticket website and it was rolled out to the public on 12/7/09??

Corey and Pete-pretty please can you start the development of the droid platform.

Again, I'm available for testing :woohoo:
