OK Ladies - I have a pregnancy question...

I never made it through the first month with both of mine. I don't know what the "rules" are now, but when I had my children I was told to finish out the BC prescription and then use an alternate form of BC for 3 months to make sure it was "flushed" out of my system and then start trying. That's what we did.

I was going to say the same thing! Granted, our boys are 16 & 13 now so maybe things have changed? I was 24 & 27 respectively, it took 2 months the first time (I counted wrong) & 1 month the second time.

:thumbsup2 This is what I was told to do also--go off pills and wait 3 months to try. I have a 16yo.

I can tell when I ovulate and so, first try, I was pregnant. :) It was day 11 for me which I thought was a little on the low side if I had been trying with a regular 33/34 day cycle. Oh well, painful and uncomfortable as it is, I was glad to know because it can be stressful once you think you are ready.

Best wishes to you!

I had been off BC for a while, and the DAY we decided to start trying, the FIRST TIME, I got pregnant.

Good luck!

And I know what you mean about twins... I was so relieved when the doc said, "Just one!"

If it makes you feel better, your DH's family will not increase your chances of having twins - it depends on the woman's side of the family, and the genetic link to double ovulating. It's your body, not his body. Identical twins are also not caused by the male side of the family.

Also, twins are a genetic predisposition on the WOMAN'S side to release more than one egg at a time. If you don't have this trait, you won't have fraternal twins. Identical twins can happen to anyone. The skipping a generation is a myth.
Yes, anyone can have identical twins. Fraternal twins are 2 eggs released by the woman.

Also, that running in the family thing & skipping a generation.......not so sure what happened in our family. I'm the first to have twins. It has to start somewhere, I guess! :goodvibes

2 weeks.

Went off the BC pills and at the end of the first cycle I was pregnant. :rotfl: Fertility issues run in my family and I was sure there was no way I would get pregnant quickly. I am now 16 weeks in!

Yeah I know its a totaly different for everyone. I have been on BC for almost 14yrs, so wonder how long it will take...if at all. I am in my early 30's. We shall see.

what freaks me out...is DH has a history of twins in his family...and it has already skipped an generation..LOL..I cant imagine twins...:rotfl:

1st cycle with ds13 and dd1. Only time we tried with dd11.

I was on the pill for 5 yrs, threw away the pack halfway through the month, and was pregnant the next month, at age 23. I had ds13 at 24, nursed him for 18 mos, and got pregnant the next month (dh begged to try, I agreed, the next day we both agreed it was too soon and I was planning to use my prescription for pills after my next pd, but dd11 was already on the way).

Dh asked for another baby for the next 9 yrs, and finally at 35 I agreed. I knew if I didn't do something soon I might never get the chance. I had been on the pill for 9 yrs, and warned him that it might take awhile. The next month, I was pregnant. Have my precious 19 mo old next to me right now.

I have 3 sisters, and one of them got pregnant easily with her only child, one took awhile with her kids, and one never could get pregnant, and at almost 48 is childless and happy (I offered to be a surrogate, she turned me down). So really, you just don't ever know, even within your own family.

Both times I have come off the pill I ovulated within 2 weeks like clockwork...didn't take me any time at all to start back on normal cycles. This was after being on them 6+ years (both times).

However, due to other fertility issues we required IUI to get pregnant. Worked the first time, both times.

I think it was 7 months for us. But we were also told to use an alternate for a couple of months to be sure everything was back to normal.

Same here :lmao:

With DS#1 I used alternate methods for a few months per my Dr. advice. When I quit using anything I got pregnant in 2 months by charting my temps. When we tried the second time I got pg within a a month but had an early miscarriage. We weren't using any bc and I got pregnant again about 2 months after that with DS#2.

Took about 6 months with my first, IIRC. I was also in my early 30's and had been on the pill for about 15 years. I started charting my temps after 3 or 4 months.

Second time I went off the pill... well, it's been over 10 years now and nothing! (But I too, was diagnosed with infertility after about 9 months that time.)

Talk to your doctor about it before you start trying. Have her write you a prescription for prenatal vitamins and start taking them now, so they're in your system when you get pregnant.

Good luck! :goodvibes

The first month the first 2 times and the last time we weren't even trying and surprise! We were both of an advanced age the last time and it happened even on BC! The doctor was sure it was early menopause!

I went off the pill in February and was pregnant in June. We didn't chart or anything. I used the not-at-all-scientific technique where I divided my cycle in half and then...yeah....

I was 26 then and had been on the pill for eight years.

As you can see it varies GREATLY! The only advice i can give is be patient and don't become obsessed with it. Don't make the baby making act a chore. Have fun! After I miscarried I became crazy started charting and it took over my life for a month or so. I had to realize that there was nothing wrong with me my body just needed time t recover from being on the pill for 12+ years and then time to recover from the miscarriage. I was PG about a month after DH pulled me off the figurative ledge.

I'm the first as well, but since there is a 1 in 2 chance of losing one of twins, with no sign of m/c (vanishing twin syndrome - absorbed back into the body), and u/s used to be at 20 weeks instead of 7, many could've been initially pregnant with twins, and never known.

It took me four years, and I was in my early 20s. I wish you the very best!

Took a month with DD. We knew we wanted two children close in age, so we started trying again when she was about 6 months old. DS took over a year. :confused3 No rhyme or reason for it. Good Luck!!

About 6 weeks the first time and 3 months the second. Wasn't on BC for the other 2.

Our second month off the pill. I actcually have had 2 miscarraiges (just had the 2nd). I have longer cycles. My doctor is putting me on BCP so I can try again sooner (I have to wait 2 cycles), and said that most women are actually very fertile right after coming off the pill.
