Hi--
I rarely use snscreen on my face bacause it makes me break out horribly. Usually I just put it on my nose and wear a hat. I was thinking an Oil of Olay or nivea type facial cream with SPF added might work better for me and cause less breakouts. Do you think they provide just as good sun protection? Thanks! :)

The only one I use (and I use it daily) is the Neutrogena one. This is the only one which does not make me break out. It is only an SPF of 15 but that does help as long as I remember to reapply.

I use a lotion called Purpose. My dermatologist recommended it to me. I've always had super sensitive skin and I suffer from breakouts too, and I'm 27 years old so I'm way past the teenage skin problem years. I love this stuff. There are 2 kinds just a regular moisturizer and an alpha hydroxy one. I have them both but I use my alpha hydroxy one more. You can find it at many drug stores. It get it at CVS. Each has an SPF of 15. It is oil free and noncomedogenic. It is a water based moisturizer which is quite rare. Give it a try. Once you do you won't want anything else.

I Use Eucerin Face SPF 25 every day under my make up. I've had basal cell skin cancer taken off my face and I had complained to my dermatologist about using sunscreen year round and people commenting on the smell. She suggested this and I've been really happy with it and I don't smell like a Coppertone ad any more!

I use Oil of Olay and have for years. I love it. I use it as sunscreen on the beach (and everyday use), but also wear a hat. Apply often.

Also, as a tip, instead of wearing all that heavy foundation, try putting a small amount with your lotion. I've found this works great and doesn't feel "heavy". You need to get at least a shade darker than normal. I heard about this via Bobby Brown on the Today Show.

by not looking closely at the ingredient list. The moisturizer was listed spf15 on the front, but I was burned to a crisp very quickly.

Be sure to check the active ingredient list to see if either zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, avobenzone (which may also be listed as Parsol 1789 or butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane), or Mexoryl SX outside of the US. If one of those isn't part of active ingredient listing (it doesn't count if it is just part of the regular ingredients) you will not be getting adequate UVA protection.

:p

I have rosacea, which makes you extremely sensitive to the sun, plus I have really fair skin, so sunscreen is critical for me. I have been using Oil of Olay Complete UV protection lotion for years, and it is wonderful. My skin is very sensitive and breaks out in a rash when I use many products, but the Oil of Olay lotion never bothers it. Two (very white:p ) thumbs up!

I have used the Nivea for years and like it ( the Q10), but I also use Clinique a lot too.I think it is called "Weather-all" and it contains the Titanium dioxide. I also use Clinique "city stick" whick is like foundation in a stick, but offers great sun protection.

One thing you might want to keep in mind if you're wearing sunscreen when it's really hot out: Wear one that is labelled sweatproof. My understanding is the SPF in make up is there to help us not "age" as quickly and get wrinkles. I don't think the manufacturer's are thinking of protecting us from skin cancer. And take it from me: Even though they numb the skin when they take out the spot off your face, you still kind of feel it and it's not exactly pleasant.

If your skin is blemish prone, I would avoid any products with oil in them. The Florida humidity will make oil a much bigger problem, even if you are usually normal. A great thing to try is Mary Kay sublock. It is oil-free, fragrance-free, non-comedogenic, waterproof, and sweat resistant . I am a little partial to all things Mary Kay:) but this is honestly the best sunscreen I've used. Using a sunscreen will definately be a better choice for extended protection than beauty creams. They are not designed for intense protection.

I am 29 and still blemish-prone (WAH) and I have been using Neutrogena's Gel Based Sunscreen (SPF 30) for a couple of years with no problems. Since oily products really exacerbate my problem, I avoid most of the stuff out there - and that includes the "lotions". I have found that some of them (even Neutrogena) don't perform as well as a sunscreen only product.

My best friend who has very dry skin (and still breaks out - thank you horomones) needs something that has a little oil, and she got something from Clarins that has been great. SPF 30, I believe. Also, she uses the Eucerin sometimes.

Hope this helps!

I am going in 4 days -- the Neutrogena is already sitting out, waiting to be packed!!!

I love oil or olay for sensitive skin with SPF, city stick by Clinique is great too (just more expensive). I don't like Nivea b/c it made me break out (both the facial and body lotions) and I have read it has more ingredients that may be too harsh for sensitive skin. :)

Living in South Florida , I haven't gone out of my house in years without sunscreen on (even in winter). I use Olay complete or Olay total effects with SPF 15. Also, I wear foundation that has SPF 15. This combination of both really WORKS!! I am 35, but still look early 20's.

I love Olay Total Effects, but I'm not sure if it has an SPF in it, but it makes my wrinkles disappear!!

Olay total effects comes with or without SPF . I also would NEVER" lay out in the sun", ever!
I don't care how pale I am and living in FL you get plenty of sun, even if you are slathered in sunscreen!
