OK it's a trip report, 5/13

So here we go. We arrived at boardwalk villas today. Our son is seven now and our daughter is three so I'm wanting to remember later when they get bigger. so I'm trying do trip reports this trip. More than anything, I was thinking that it would be a good keep sake for me to remember a trip by.

I'm not much of a writer, but we're arriving at boardwalk in a few minutes and I was thinking that I would try to do trip reports this trip. More than anything, I was thinking that it would be a good keep sake for me to remember a trip by. Our son is seven now and our daughter is three so I'm wanting to remember later when they get bigger. But I have some questions about format-

If ware staying at dvc, should a report be on this board or the dvc board?

Should every day be a new topic, or should the days just add to the same topic?

I'd like to put pictures in it.

Hi DR~

You'll get a lot of opinions here, but I'll start and add my two cents.

Every writer is different- some come here to create a keepsake like you say, some write hoping that it will help others plan, and still others, just love to write and tell their story.

There are as many formats as there are authors, so really do what you love to do, and tell your story how YOU want to. Because, there are also a variety of READERS too. Some love to read good or funny writing, some read because they know the writer and want to mainain a relationship, and still others will want to read super detailed/photo-filled reports. It's really up to you, and what kind of readers you want to attract.

I'd say, if you are GOING on a trip with doing a trip report in mind, I'd take LOTS of notes along the way, take lots of photos focusing on out of the ordinary subject matter- (we've all seen the castle- try a unique shot of it), and just be ready to throw in YOUR personality to it.

If you write the readers will come. Promise.

Oh yes, There are LOTS of DVC reports here. If it's a TR, do it here, I'd say.

OK, thanks. Well, here we are at BWV. It's a really pretty day, but hot. We drove down from Chattanooga, stayed in Cordele last night. It isn't that far from Chattanooga to have the stay the night, but we waited until our son got out of school and so that put us in traffic.

One thing I really don't get is the on-line check in. It would make sense to me if they would do it so that you could use the on-line check-in in the morning, then send you a text message when your room is ready, then you would know it was time to come and get your keys. Then you could go to the parks or to eat or whatever. The way they do it, you do the on-line check-in, then come to the hotel and pick up your keys, then you can go to the parks or whatever and they send you a text message that your room is ready. So you don't have to go back to get the keys because you already have them. But it makes more sense to me that you wouldn't even have to go to the hotel until your room is ready. I don't know, but I don't really see any advantage to it. When we arrived this afternoon there was no line at any of the cues, so I guess if the check in line was busier it might be a good thing to have or something.

Anyway, here we are. It's 5:15, we are thinking of eating and then doing something. Not sure what to do, we have a 8:00 at chefs of france, but my wife Melissa sort of wanted to order a pizza. It's her birthday. We weren't really originally planning on coming down until a couple of weeks from now for the star wars weekends. But then we saw the thing about the pixar weekend at the last flower and garden festival, and Melissa sort of wanted to go the flower and garden festival anyway, and so we thought we'd come for this weekend. At first we thought we'd go back home then and come back, but after the storms and everything we decided to just stay down here. So we have some different goals because it is a long trip.

Our daughter really wants to go see a sea lion and walrus, so we are planning to go to sea world.

Melissa really wants to go see the Harry Potter stuff.

I want to go to Vero Beach.

Our son wants to get a new light saber. Last year he got a star wars poster signed by Billy Dee Williams, and Jeremy Bullock, and Peter Mayhew. This year we want to get it signed by Anthony Daniels. He also brought a clone wars poster, so we'll probably try to get it signed by everyone. He really wants to see some of the Pixar characters that we don't usually get a chance to see.

So we have a lot of fun in front of us. I was going to post a picture but it is slow uploading and Melissa wants to look at menus.

So far so good, this will be a great memory for your kids but even more so for you and your wife!

Let Melissa go to WWOHP, it made my trip that much better!!

Well, we ended up going down to espn club. Which is kind of weird, I guess, but you know, simplicity. They were really sweet and brought Melissa a birthday cake with a candle to blow out. Pretty much standard pub grub, you know. They were doing this "pod cast" thing where they acted like it was a tv show and they went around with a camera playing a family feud sort of game, trying to guess the best sports movies. Our son is seven, he dug that. It started pouring rain. I mean a toad choker, pouring rain. We were going to go over to epcot, but I don't know if we're going now. It looks like it is clearing up. I was thinking about going to the pool but they haven't opened it back up yet. There was a good bit of lightening. There is probably going to be a lot of that the next few weeks, it already felt like summer today. I think there are a couple of more spring like days coming up, then it will be summer.

I wonder what time the pixar characters are out.
