We have a friend who is in charge of emergency preparedness at a large NYC hospital. He knows I'm a weather geek, so anything there's something interesting brewing he forwards me the warning they send out. That's how I happen to be on top of this.

Yesterday was rainy but awesome - didn't even think about the heat - got to try some coffee drinks without igniting - crowds were lower than I expected. Overall a great day.

Making up for a dry spring. Looks like just a rain maker. Been pretty wet over here on the space coast. Make sure to use that mosquito spray...bumper crop this year.

We were there during Debbie Downer too, and it was one of our most fun and memorable trips. I felt very sorry for the lifeguards at the Contemporary pool, who had to stay out there during the whole thing and do their rounds. We had a great time, though, especially at Animal Kingdom. We put on ponchos with baseball hats over them (keeps the water out of your eyes and holds the hood in place) and just went on with our days. We also wore athletic sandals so we wouldn't have to worry about soggy shoes. We walked on to just about everything and had the most wonderful day in the pouring rain.

The emptiest I've ever seen the MK was during a tropical depression downpour in September 2001. We often couldn't see a single other guest. It was also the week following 9/11 which probably didn't help.

We're here and it's been drizzling rain with a few hard rains here and there and cloud covered. Having said that, the temperature is absolutely perfect. Last night cleared up to be beautiful with now rain and low crowds at MK for Happily Ever After. Some sun would be nice for the pool but I was prepared for the blazing August heat and this has been a pleasant surprise
