Ok I know It's probably stupid What are crowds like in late august

But How many of Us are going The Third week of Aug 2006 Looking at booking for the 13th through the 20th at the poly and would like an Idea of how many Disers will be here and also if anyone else has stayed this time of year what are the crowds really like Ive heard conflicting stories some say the closer to the end of aug you get the Lighter the crowds is this true

My DH and I will be there that week along with 10 of our closest friends. That week, being near the end of summer vacations, has traditionally not been as crowded as the beginning and middle of the summer - but it will be hot.

Been there many times in August. 3rd and 4th weeks are not crowded. Many things are almost walkon, but the HEAT IS AWFUL. Not having the crowds makes it bearable. We choose to go then, because all summer is hot, but the crowds are less. Last time we went those weeks, the only people left were from NJ or England. Everyone else must have started school already. NJ doesn't start till after Labor Day.

Does the crowds pick up significantly during labor day weekend? Would it be better to leave just before the w/e starts?

I went during the same week in 2004. We had booked Friday the 13th as the day we would leave. Well guess what? The hurricane hit and we didn't get there until the 15th! The crowds weren't too bad when we were there, and I didn't think it too hot, however, it did rain alot. It seemed like it would rain for quite a while, at least a couple of hours if not more. On our last day, it rained from about 2 until 9pm. In all, I would much rather go in August than June or July because of the crowds.

We have always gone the first and second week of august. VERY HOT and VERY CROWDED! Last year we went for the first time august 20 - 30. This is way better. As others have said it is still very hot but the crowds were great. Except the major rides most were walk-ons. We will now be going this time from now on.

We have been a number of times in August and the crowds are minimal. Yes, it is very hot and often rainy. I would plan to be out of there by Thurs or Fri before Labor day weekend. They will be busy days.

August is our standard time to go, the crowds are very manageable, and as other have stated, it is very hot and humid. Not to mention the rain and huricane season.

We went the 13-20 last year. Everything was a walkon. I think partly due to the free dining promotion that started the day after we left. Yes it was hot but we got to the parks at opening & left at lunch. I wouldn't call it unbearable.

No rain all week though - not a drop!

I'm glad to hear about the 13-20 of August as in 2007 we are looking at that week. We are going to do an annual pass and go end of August 2006, then use it earlier the following year and we have never been there at that time.

We were there from August 19-26 2006. We had 11 in our party. We walked onto many rides, but got to the parks first thing in the morning.

We were also able to get every reservation we made at the resturants.

It was very very hot and humid, I swore we will never go again in August, but looks like were are going again in 2007.

Was a little worried that we would run into mega crowds this time of year but I knew I would get the correct scoop from the disers hope we dont have weather problems now ???

I just had my work vacation planning meeting yesterday and looks like I got what I wanted Aug 13th through 20th and will be confirming everything soon

My family and I go every summer the second to last week in August through Labor Day weekend in September and the crowds are very managable. Since most of the states with the excetion of the northeast states are back to school already. We experienced the first 2 weeks of Aug. this year and found the crowds to be much more heavy. This being said we are going the last 2 weeks of August this year. Only slight problem is that it rains often and it is still very hot. Now don't get me wrong, Splash won't be 10 minutes but it also won't be 2 hours. It will be about an hour most of the time. That goes for pretty much all of the popular rides. Just use your fastpasses and everything will be fine. Good luck!

We were there Aug 21-28, 2005. It was HOT! We bought the misting fans to keep everybody wet and cool. My kids were 2 & 3 1/2 at the time, so we went back to nap and use the pool in the early afternoon everyday...it cut out alot of the heat and exhaustion. We are early risers, and did early entry almost everyday we were there...walked onto most every ride and didn't miss anything.

The only time I noticed a heavy crowd was on extra magic hours before the park closed to the general public. Otherwise, it was not very crowded and so enjoyable. The only thing I noticed was with the popularity of the dining plan, most people without ADR's at sitdown restaurants were turned away.
