When Istarted on the wish challenge my intention was to "eat half as much" as I used to.

Well that worked ok for awhile - but it was hard to stick to.

After getting my last A1C and fasting blood sugars for my diabetes - let's just say the Dr. was not pleased.

About 1 1/2 weeks ago I started low-carbs (atkins?) and as of today I'm down over 15 pounds from the time I started.

6 or 7 from "eating half" but much more progress from low-carb.

Prayers requested for those diabetes numbers!

WOW 15 pounds...that's a good start!

Here's hoping those numbers go where you want them to!

Wow, Trekker, 15 pounds in a week and a half is very impressive! :D I have heard very good things about low carb programs and the effect it has on bood sugar. Prayers are coming your way that this will be so for you, too. Keep up the good work!! :D :D :D

The week and 1/2 has been on low-carb - I did about 6 weeks prior to that with just eating less. The last week and 1/2 is responsible for about 8 - 9 pounds lost....

Love that new clip, Ron. I think you are going to find that controlled carbohydrate eating is going to keep your blood sugar under control quite well.

When Wilgus began following the Atkins plan his A1C was 9.2. Within a month it was 7.2 and after two months it was 6.1. He feels so much better and his physicians are thrilled with his progress.

We have a few other WISH type II diabetics who have had great success controlling their blood sugar by controlling the carbohydrate consumption.

It's great to see you here again, Ron. Don't be such a stranger, okay? I'm anxious to see how your blood sugar does.

I hope you will start posting your progress on our weekly check-in thread. I never miss that but sometimes I miss the posts announcing success that aren't part of that thread :(

I was just going to tell you to PM nativetxn as her husband has been doing terrific in controlling his blood sugars. I see she beat me to it. There was a thread going awhile back concerning Diabetes and Atkins - I'm glad I kept the link to it. Hopefully it will be helpful to you.

The following are some of my favorite low carb links....
