We are in Canada too-our schools JK-Gr8 had to complete an extended absence form (from the district school board for any absence > 3 days). The teachers were then informed and most were very good about providing info about lessons that would be missed/catch up work.
In HS there is also a Board form but this has to be completed by each teacher for every subject covering what will be missed and how to catch up, then it goes to the VP for "absence approval" and then back to the parents for review and signature.

). Of course there will be lots of new threads when the AP rates do eventually come out. At least I hope there are--I was out of town when the last codes came out (wouldn't you know it) and was so confused when I got back to the boards trying to figure out exactly what types of codes, for what dates were out.
