OK, I guess I will start the Waiting for OCT-DEC AP rate thread

We are in Canada too-our schools JK-Gr8 had to complete an extended absence form (from the district school board for any absence > 3 days). The teachers were then informed and most were very good about providing info about lessons that would be missed/catch up work.
In HS there is also a Board form but this has to be completed by each teacher for every subject covering what will be missed and how to catch up, then it goes to the VP for "absence approval" and then back to the parents for review and signature.

I too am from Canada and we take our kids out for two weeks at a time, and sometimes twice a year. We've never had a problem. I don't ask them if I can do it, I just tell them that he'll be away for these days. I get all his work ahead of time and he often does it before we go and whatever he doesn't have done he takes it with him.

I am stunned that some constituencies have such tough laws. Is there a problem with people not bothering to take their kids to school there?

All I know is that I'm going in November, my son's going to miss 10 or 11 days of school and I WANT an AP rate.

Do you think they'll have AP rates of Super Soap weekend?

There is a whole thread on taking the kids out of school or not on the Attractions. Any other info from the CM's as to when these rates will be out? This is torture

Debbie,
What a coincidence! My daughter started 2nd grade today, too. All I could think last night is that it won't be long before she's driving. Okay, I know I'm a little ahead of myself.
The school handbook was so harsh about missing days and unexcused absences that I'm a little concerned about her missing a week.
Hoping for discounts for October 30- November 7.:Pinkbounc

We are fairly new to our current school district - we moved to Westfield from Indianapolis in November - and our previous school district was very lenient about missing school for family vacations.

The district we are in now had been pretty strict about unexcused absences but they are becoming more lenient. The old policy was that a student would receive NO credit for work made up for an unexcused absence. However, this Spring they changed that policy and now a student will receive FULL credit for all make-up work. (School administrators didn't want to punish the students when they have no control if their parents take them out of school for vacation.)

Next week we'll attend the "Meet the Teacher" night and let DD's teacher know that DD will miss 2.5 days of school (we have a 3-day Fall Break at the end of October).

Sorry for getting off topic .... back to AP rates .... let's see 'em!!!

Debbie

I just called my school on this too. We had taken the kids out in Feb 2003 when they were in Kindegarten and it was for 6 days because of snow they only missed 2. I havent taken them out since and plan to take them out again in Oct. I had mentioned this to the principal at the end of last year. I was told I need to write a letter explaining why they are missing school and I will let the teachers know when they are missing so we can work while on vacation. I try to make it as educational as possible. Actually they have really made it hard this year to work around "breaks" They have no days off until Thanksgiving with the exception of election day and labor day. They used to have teacher work days and have taken them away for the year. These poor kids need a break!

I agree lets keep this thread about AP rates and discounts. School worries on top of no discounts is too much.

Please excuse me. I didn't realize that we weren't allow to post on any other issues relating to our trip:rolleyes:
I'll just go back to lurking.

Erin, I was thinking the same thing but then realized that I guess we were getting kind of OT. Please keep on posting. It is a free board and no one owns it except for the people who moderate.

I've most certainly been guilty of getting off topic on threads before, but the problem with doing this on this particular thread is that people are anxiously waiting the release of the codes and every time there is a new posting and the thread jumps back to the top, people get a bit excited, only to read the new posting(s) and find out it's about something not related to the topic at hand.

I can understand about staying on topic, but if anyone hasn't noticed there has been NOTHING to write about on topic. NO discounts...

If not for the occasional off topic post, this thread would be on page about 400 by now and we'd never find it. Anything that keeps it on page one is fine with me.

I guess it's like waiting in line for concert tickets. Pleasant conversation makes the time pass. If no one is being rude--what's the harm? Personally, I'd rather read about whatever, than post after post saying, "bump" or "nothing today."

No one will have to worry about finding the info if/when discounts are released because that's all we'll talk about then.

I agree dpic!:)

I called CRO for other reasons...but asked anyway...still no new rates.:(

I'm sure that if and when a new discount is released, even if it is mid-day, there will be more than one brand new threads started that say "AP DISCOUNTS ARE OUT!" in the title. It won't be a secret! Not to mention that the last couple of sets of discounts we've know about them the day before they are released. I bet these are the same way.

I'm that the one who brought up the whole off topic issue, I was only trying to explain why someone did and didn't want anyone to take it too seriously and go to just lurking. Like I said I've been guilty about posting off-topic posts on threads (I get distracted easily ;) ). Of course there will be lots of new threads when the AP rates do eventually come out. At least I hope there are--I was out of town when the last codes came out (wouldn't you know it) and was so confused when I got back to the boards trying to figure out exactly what types of codes, for what dates were out.

Won't Disney just take pity on us????

I'm not really going to be a lurker- I was just annoyed and said that. (I have way too big a mouth to be silenced ;)
I agree with Dpic in that at least it bumps it back up to the top. When I see that there's been a new post, I don't get excited. Sorry if other people do. I just figure its somebody bumping it to the top or posting that they called and was given a guess about when AP rates might be released.
Personally, I haven't been interested in AAA info or airline info occasionally posted, but I feel that people have a right to put that info out there without being told to keep it on topic.

Have they ever released the AP rates in mid day? It's bad enough I have to get on the phone every few days at 7AM.

Mike

I'm not 100% sure but I think that AP rates have been released mid-day in the past. I'm sure someone here knows for sure .....:wave2:

Edited to add: I just saw the following on a different site "Spoke with CRO today and the CM sounded VERY confident that we'd be seeing the rates for October November and December this week.. Just a heads-up to those interested...".

:hyper:

While we are waiting, I need help.
I am arriving on Oct. 31st and staying until Nov.. 8th. If rates only come out for say Oct 1-31st, will the rates apply to my whole trip or just the 31st?
I know that when you book a trip and your arrival date is considered value season, then your whole length of stay is considered value. It usually depends all on your arrival date. That makes me curious to know if special rates work the same way?
Any ideas?
Does anyone think , gee sometimes it is less stressful if you don't know about all the deals you can get. I can remember my first few trips I have planned (booked a package thru disney!!!!!!!$$$$$$$$) and everything was less painful! Nowadays, I have every book, log on here every night and worry if I'll ever get a good rate on my ressie. Is it really worth it? I SURE HOPE SO.
I haven't had luck with the infamous postcard I got. " no available rooms". Anyone want to give me your opinion how lucky I may be to get AP rate applied to my CBR rrom? I check here constantly and I'm ready to call at 7AM when they do come out. -can you tell I am losing the faith?
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxcrossing fingers for rates soonxxxxxxxxxxx
my fingers are turning blue..........:(

I just posted a new thread titled "Discounted DreamMaker Package Coming [Sep 30-Dec 25] (???). It's info from a post on another site (poster is a TA) and she references AP rates - an expected date of release anyway (Aug 26). Check it out!

Debbie

...and that, my friends, is all it takes for the excitement to build again!!!:)
