After looking here forever, I finally took the plunge and bought myself the small Cricut.   Of course, I also had to buy the Disney Mickey cartridges. ;) Oh I have the tool kit thing too.
Now to my questions. LOL
I seen a thread here, its been a while, that showed through your trials and errors the best settings to leave it on. Just basically cutting cardstock. Also if anyone has tips or tricks of how to use and best way to get cuttings off of the mat without ripping or tearing? I have a glitter stack of cardstock that I thought of cutting with it also. Has anyone done that or any thing I should know before I do. Please everyone just chime in with your best tips and advice for a total newbie to this. :confused3
ETA: The baby wipes for the mat, do you wipe after every use. LOL. That kinda sounds like a weird question.

I remember who posted the settings.. let me search and I'll find it..
Yes, I use the baby wipes after each session..not so much each use... so whenever I'm done for the day, I wipe the mats done.. let them air dry and they are ready for the next day...Also, since there are 2 mats.. if I'm doing two sessions that day I will rotate the mats..
Be back shortly with the info!

I tried the glitter pack and cut w/ it the other day.. the small stuff is awful... but I didn't try more than 1"... I need to cut some letters out tomorrow so I'll let you know how that goes.. it maybe something like chipboard where you have to just hit the load button again (not unload and reload) and cut it a second time...but I'll try some tomorrow...

The tool kit doesn't include the Cricut spatula, so if you didn't buy one separately, I highly recommend that you do. The only way I can get stuff off without tearing it is to use the spatula. I've been using the scraping tool that comes in the tool kit to scrape my mats when I am done. I think I've extended the life of the mats that way. I tried the baby wipes and it didn't work for me.

I cut some letters at 1 1/4" from the DCWV Glitter Stack. I had the pressure set to 5 and they came out fine. For most cardstock I use a pressure setting of 4, but I don't use really thick cardstock most of the time:).

There's also a message board- www.cricut.com with a great bunch of ladies who love the cricut- It has layouts, cards etc that people made and plenty of tips and tricks-

Thanks for the responses. Yes let me know tomorrow how it goes with the Glitter Stack. That is what I was planning on using. So Maybe if they are over 1" they will be fine. I will have to find the spatula. I don't have that. I'm not even sure what all the tools are for that came in the kit? :confused3 I cut out some Mickey Heads today. It was so exciting. I was as giddy as a kid with a new toy.

I've cut DCWV's Fall Glitter stack with it - I had to put the blade on 6, the speed on 3 and I think the pressure at 4. I did have to cut, then hit "load paper" then cut again to get it to cut through - it worked great (and I believe I was cutting out 1 inch or 1 1/2 inch letters). :)

Thanks. By this do you mean? You make one cut. Unload the paper and reload the same paper and have it cut it a second time? Please remember this is new to me. Sorry if that sounds silly. Also if that is not what you mean, what do you mean?

Not silly at all - I read about this on the Cricut board and had to print out the instructions and try it before it made sense!

Starting from the beginning, I put the glitter cardstock on the mat, load the paper, type what I want, then hit cut. When it is finished, do NOT hit "unload" paper - just hit "load paper" again - it will go right back to the same starting spot. Then hit "repeat last" and "cut" and it will cut directly over where it just cut your word or item. The 2nd time does the trick and it cuts all the way through.

Hope that helps!
