ok, here is my question should I use the Lands End warrenty?

I'm kinda feeling the same way. I wouldn't expect a swim suit to last more than one season anyway.

My daughter has 3 Speedo bathing suits that have lasted her 2 years already and are still in good condition. She won't be wearing them anymore as they are oo small now so we bought her 2 from LL Bean. My youngest one has had several bathing suits from Target/Walmart and they also have lasted more than one season so much so they were passed onto friends who need them.

My DD has also worn suits for more than one year mostly because she always has 5 or 6 suits. However, if a suit wore out after one year of wear I would feel that we got our moneys worth and would not try to return it.

Same thing happened to DD's suit from last year from LE.
I just bought her another one and never even considered returning it.
I got my moneys' worth out of it.

As an adult, I expect my suits to last more than one year, but I'm careful. A kid's suit, not so much. Kids are hard on suits. One may last more than a season, but I wouldn't ecpect one to last more than that.

Also, not picking on anyone - but the idea of putting a suit in a washing machine made me cringe. I pretty much rinse them out after every use (pool, pond or salt water - any can be damaging) and/or hand wash with Woolite and hang them to dry. It's very easy.

I've tried to return Lands End clothes at sears before, but I couldn't. They said I had to return it through the catalog. :confused3

You can take it back to sears if your store has a lands end section.

I would reccomend dealing directly with Lands End. DD had a pair of the suede Mary Janes. The strap's elastic broke. I brought them back to Sears/Lands End desk and was told no they would not take them. Then I called Lands End. Of course we will take them back, I ordered the new ones, and they sent me a gift card.

I would absolutely return the suit. It is good business for both you and Lands End. It's not very often a company stands behind their products as they do.

I have returned 2 items under thier policy: a winter coat that I had for several years that I struggled with the zipper every time I put it on (which was just a few times because it was impossible to deal with) and a diaper bag back pack (another zipper issue).

Did the store have a lands end department? Did you have the receipt from sears or pack slip from an online order?

That is the only way it can be done. In a sears store without a lands end department OR if it does but you do not have any of the original payment information then yes you do have to ship it back direct to Lands' End. If it's defective they don't charge you shipping, if you just changed your mind or it doesn't fit there is something about a $6 charge.

If it was bought on amazon.com or through an actual lands end inlet sears won't take it back. HTH

Sometimes you need to have a manger help you if it's been past 90 days because the sears return system has to get an override.

I've done it almost a year later without an issue.

As for how long bathing suits last, if you never dry them in the dryer and wash them on cold they will last a very long time. I've had one last 4 summers that was used over and over going through both my daughters. It was a cheap big lots spongebob suit too. If you use them in chlorinated water you have to rinse them out after use because chlorine limits the life of the suit.

You should most definitely return the suit. With a company like Land's Ens even a child's suit should last more than 1 year. I would put them on par with the L.L. Bean suits or the Limited 2 (Justice) suits for qulality. We have purchased suits from all of the above and never had a problem with a suit making it through 2 summers unless the size became the issue.

I would send it back.

I have a similar dilemma...as we purchased a rolling backpack for dd this year back in like January or so. She gets so much homework that her bag gets REALLY heavy. Well, she apparrently had too much in it one day, and the zipper broke. I have NEVER had a problem with a Bean bag with a zipper before, but she did have this bag loaded...Not sure what to do about that one.

Good luck
