Ok, I am sure everyone is sitting in their seats laughing, I am 25 and I do not own an IPOD but I would like to purchase one and I am walking daily and in Aug we will be driving to WDW (18 hours!)

So, I need like an IPOD for dummies tutorial. How much are they? How much do songs cost? How many songs can you put on an IPOD? When you purchase an IPOD does it come with software so you could legally download songs, or are their websites for that? How much computer space does that take up?
Speak to me like I am a 5 year old hahaha, I am still listening to CDs. :rotfl:

The cost totally depends on the type and capacity. I would take a look at apple.com to see the different ones. Do you want to just use it for music or do you want to download movies, videos or pictures. Do you currently have a large music collection?

You would download itunes on your computer (it is free) and use that to store all your songs and then sync your IPOD through that to update it. You can either purchase songs/albums through itunes or download cds that you currently have into itunes. Songs prices are usually either 99 cents or $1.29 and albums prices are pretty much inline with what you would pay for in a store, sometimes they are cheaper.

I think I would just like one that stores songs. Do I need an apple computer in order to use an apple Ipod?
Great, if i have CDs I don't have purchase those songs again, I could just load them into the itunes?
Also itunes has those gift cards right? I could purchase those.

Nope you don't need an apple computer. I would take a look at the IPOD Nano's and just figure out which capacity size you want.

Yes you can just load the CDs into itunes, you don't need to purchase the songs again.

You can purchase the itunes gift cards. You can also link a credit card to your account to pay for purchases.

Hi! Thought I would chime in...

You don't need an apple computer to use itunes, it also works with PCs.
Yes, you can just load your CD's into itunes on your computer and then sync them to your ipod - you don't need to buy them again.
itunes gift cards are easy to use, and great to get as gifts ;) I believe when you set up your itunes account you assign a credit card to your account so that when/if you make purchases through itunes it just charges them to your credit card onfile. You do have to pay tax on every song purchase - just FYI - I didn't realize that at first.

I have an itouch, which has a much larger capacity than it sounds like you want/need, but I have a friend that has the Nano and LOVES it, and another friend that has the Shuffle and doesn't like it quite so well. The Shuffle is very small and lightweight, which she thought she would prefer, but she's found that it's actually a bit too small for her. She feels like she's going to lose it all the time. You also cannot create multiple play lists for the shuffle, which was something she thought she didn't need, but then found out that she'd actually like to be able to pick and choose certain songs rather than just hear a random selection from all of the songs that she has on there.

HTH's!

I was just looking at that one too and the computer and thought that it may be too small and i would lose it. Maybe I will go with the Nano. I just can't seem to find how many songs it could hold? O wait I found it 2000 songs/8 hours of video.

OP-- check on the apple website for the clearance or reburbished iPods. I have bought both. I have had a refurb Classic for 3 yrs and it has been great so far. They come with the same warrenty has the 'new' ones.

I second the suggestion of checking with Apple to see about refurbed iPods; altrnatively, you can check your weekly circulars to see what stores may have the best "add-ins" with their iPods. I know Target usually throws in a gift card (the amount depends on the model & capacity you buy), which can come in handy to use to buy accessories, like a case, car dock, etc.

My first iPod was a pink first-generation iPod mini back in 2004 and I fell completely in love with them and have never looked back. :goodvibes Happy shopping!

O thanks, looking right now!

DH would ask if you really want an ipod, or if another MP3 player would be better? He hangs out at anythingbutipod.com, and it's where he found out about his beloved Cowon D2 mp4 player (better sound quality than ipod, and upgradable memory unlike ipods). He would really urge you to research the different players, if you want quality, unless you just want the little white status symbol.

Wait...::blonde moment:: :lmao:
I can actually TAKE pictures and record videos with the Nano?
O it is so on!
