And how can we use it to our advantage when travelling with non-Disers (those who are NOT "in the know"). I'll start.

Don't drink the Beverly in Ice Station Cool/Club Cool..........but tell your group how good it is and have the camera ready when they try it.

OK. What do you know?

Oh my....the list is endless....

The geographical center of the property, why the shutters in liberty Square are actually slightly crooked, how the Magic Kingdom resorts "line up" with the Magic Kingdom lands, the "credits" along the upper floor windows on Main Street, the forced perspective used throughout the entire property....

Just off the top of my head, and it's 1am!

I know most of these, but how do the resorts line up with the lands? Is it just Polynesian=Adventureland, Wilderness Lodge=Frontierland, Contemporary=Tomorrowland and Grand Floridian=??????

That you can get into MNSSHP and MVMCP at 4pm if you want to?

What the meals at the restaurants look like (thank you food porn thread) and where to find all the yummy treats: dole whips, zebra domes

How to wake up Tinkerbell

Getting a drivers licence on the monorail

If I think of more, I'll post back,

A friend went last week and I told her this. Well she didn't listen she didn't get there til 8pm. When she came back I explained to her. If you go at 4 and stay til 11 thats 7 hours. She was suppose to take my DD12 but my DD got sick and I didn't let her go but she used Cait's ticket for her boyfriend instead. The tickets were $30 because we have APs. I said to her "you could have seen most of MK cheaper than most do now"

:confused3 Why do I bother? LOL

Especially: what is the "Food porn thread"? Sounds naughty!

Explaining the significance of 'Gertie', understanding fastpass properly (why do so many people not use it?) explaining the detail on the rides such as the chess scene in POTC, oooh theres too many to mention

ok, yes, please do share.. i would love to know why the shutters in liberty square are slightly crooked!!

i'll have to pay close attention when we are there next week.. never noticed!

When your in the lobby of ToT, and waiting to enter one of the library rooms. Take a look at the bottom of the anoucements board that's between the two rooms, at the fallen letters, and the word it spells.

Ok, some answers for you loyal DIS people.

1) Yes you can enter MNSSHP at 4pm just with a party ticket which they will exchange for a wristband at the turnstile. Have fun!

2) To get a monorail drivers licence: when you go to the loading platform for the monorail, ask a CM if you can ride up front of the monorail with the driver. Whoever asks first normally gets to do it and there should be room for 4 of you. The driver should then issue you with a drivers licence.

3) the "food porn" thread is a sticky thread at the top of the restaurants board that is photos of food from all over WDW. You will be drooling on your keyboard, go check it out.

Hope this has cleared some of it up,
Claire xx

hey madthemouse,

just thought i would say  .. noticed that we live near each other!!

You can get the monorail pilot license by riding in the front with the driver. Just go up to the front and mention to the CM up there that you'd like to ride up front (I think up to 4 can ride up there). You might have to wait, but it's a neat experience.

Oh, the "food porn thread"... go to

CAUTION!!! Do not go thru this thread when hungry!!!! I make that mistake all the time. It is especially bad if you are trying to diet!

That your child can wake Tink up in the Tinkerbell's Treasures store.

That you can use snack credits for F&W booth food items.

never heard of the lands lining up either( not really a full fledged disney geek i guess :)) although it seems to me gf should lineup with "fantasyland" considering the prices( just kidding)

i wonder how many "casual" disney goers ever notice the pavement changes between lands and parks, the sparkling epcot sidewalks, ect...i doubt many look down

Most visitors don't know that you can get copies of restaurant menus from Guest Services.

The geographical center of the property

It's at Epcot. I won't reveal more than that. :) Consider it a scavenger hunt.

why the shutters in liberty Square are actually slightly crooked,

During Revolutionary War times, the British stopped sending bullets. Well, those clever colonists melted down all the metals the British DID send. Well, the British got wise and stopped sending ALL metals. So the colonists used the metal on their window shutter hinges, and replaced the hinges with leather. As time wore on the leather stretched, et voila - crooked shutters.

It really only extends to the initial 2 resorts that were built. As Disney built up hotels, they sort of "fit" the new resorts into that mold. The contemporary was built so that the ONLY place you can see it from within the park is in Tomorrowland. The Polynesian, when it was initially built didn't extend as far east as it does now. It was considered to line up with Adventureland. And the Grand Floridian (this one was built in '88 I think, so it doesn't really fit) supposedly lines up with City Hall on Main Street. I should have said monorail resorts. The Wilderness Lodge doesn't really fit into that scheme at all.

Take a look at some of the names. You'll notice an M.T. Lott. (Empty Lot). This was the name of the CEO of the dummy corporations Disney set up to purchase the land that is now Walt Disney World property. And, because it's considered a show, Walt would have been the "director". So his name sits on the very last window. And it faces the castle - so that he could always see his creation.

Main Street was designed so it looks longer going into the park, and shorter coming out. The castle uses the same gag to make it look taller. Forced perspective is used ad nauseum in MGM Studios.

Check out the secrets thread! It's linked in the Sticke threads sticky at the top of the Theme Parks board page! LOTS of nifty trivia in there.

Well this is my first post.... longtime lurker and I am waiting to find out WHY are the shutters in liberty square slightly crooked?
